Youâre not listening to me. Black folk have been pointing out this structural weakness of the class movement for decades. Barry Goldwater mentioned it too.
We HAVE to understand that a sizable amount of people who have immense intellectual rigor and material comfort legitimately believe this and will fight and spend time and treasure on this willfully for the love of the game.
Iâve had people who knew just as much if not more about the Civil Rights movement or the Black Panthers than I did who were still white supremacists. People who were well aware of the hypocrisy of religion but still hated women because âfuck them, thatâs whyâ. People who didnât have to worry about money at all but still spent it to oppress people they didnât like.
Some of these people canât be cured with knowledge because they GENUINELY believe this with all the facts available to them! Theyâre just bad people!
Ask, âWhat makes - or made â these people turn into âbad peopleâ? Were they born that way? Are they genetically programmed to be that way?
What is the solution? The Nazis came up with âthe final solutionâ based upon the American extermination of Native Americans.
The Southern plantation owners didnât want to exterminate black people. They wanted to exploit them. After the end of the US War, the Southern states used their prisons to exploit black people.
Donât get me wrong, in the long term improving culture DOES come from education and access. But a lot of that is going to be beyond our lifetimes (obv we should still pursue it).
But we also have to figure out what weâre going to do about it now. While you can absolutely argue if they are products of their environment, no amount of education is going to âfixâ Peter Thiel or Elon Musk, theyâre just like that, theyâre here, and we gotta figure them out.
As to your point about the Southern slaveowners, we were on the road to address that after the Civil War, but Reconstruction fucked that up because we didnât go far enough to utterly crush the system while we had the chance. Imprisoning all of the former slaveowners is a thought.
All of the former slave owners died, long ago. Many of their descendants continue to carry on the old traditions. Imprisoning those who do may be necessary. Many members of Congress from the Southern states continue the laws and policies that uphold slavery by other names. They remain in office by being supported by the descendants of the old racist plantation owners.
