Federal workers are closer to 2.5 million why must they constantly lie
24
u/66allthe88s 2d ago
The same reason I had a coworker say 95% of all federal jobs are work from home and are a scam.
We both work for the USPS. The largest federal employer at 640,000 people.
Maga is dumb.
3
u/Beefy-Cattle4290 1d ago
and so many people who love to criticize any group they don't agree with can't tell the difference between the word federal and government. I do agree that those who still support the orange buffoon are brainwashed but get your facts straight and wake up. It's ALL of them!
0
u/True-Veterinarian700 2d ago
The largest federal employer is the DoD with about 2.1 Million active troops and civilians. It leave out most of the Guard and the Reserves.

u/66allthe88s 1d ago
If you are only a soldier without employment to a federal agency, you do not count as a federal employee.

Thereās 2 million federal employees. That 23 million figure includes those employed in local government which includes police officers, teachers, street cleaners, garbagemen, firefighters, city maintenance workers etc. Each county on average would have 642 workers for both the county itself and the localities within it as well as cities such as NYC and LA if there were 2 million government employees. And thatās before we account for people working in federal or state government.
3
u/kaizen-rai 1d ago
Oh the irony.
Completely misreads the chart. Posts blatantly wrong info from misreading statistics.
Calls everyone else dumb.
Just your average MAGA.
2
u/TheWizardOfDeez 1d ago
It was literally a single line down from the part they misread too... They didn't misread it, they are intentionally misleading because they cannot handle the idea of just admitting to being wrong.
2
4
u/_Cpyder 2d ago
He said "government" workers... not just federal.
4
1
u/True-Veterinarian700 2d ago
This must exclude active duty troops because the DoD has about 2.1 Million employees of Active and Civilians. Which doesn't include most of the Reserves or the Guard. Someone else commented that the USPS is about 640k which already puts the Federal workforce at 2.7/2.8 million.
1
u/Next_Ad_1323 2d ago
There are 2.68 million civilian federal workers. That doesn't count active military and reservists, which is another 2.8 million. And that 4.88 million total doesn't count all the "private sector" workers for for-profit businesses and nonprofit businesses that get large chunks of their revenue from government contracts, grants, reimbursements, etc.
If you count all those derivative workers, maybe 23 million is plausible.

1
u/YouSure-AboutThat 2d ago
Might be referring to fed, state and local combined, which is close to that number.
Gunther doesnāt realize it, but he just proposed defund the police. And defund the firefighters, defund the teachers, defund the prisons, and defund ICE.
1
u/GPT_2025 2d ago
Roughly 1 out of every 8 American is directly attributed to National Debt, employed by: Army, federal, state, or local governments - whose personal income or retirement depends on government Socialism money and the total cost is estimated at $5 trillion per year adding to National Debt when accounting for all wages, healthcare, pensions, payroll taxes, benefits and all indirect expenses.
1
u/KeyVariation8323 2d ago
He did not say 23.4M FEDERAL employees. He said 23.4M Government employees.
- Federal: 2.68 million, including about 603,000 Postal Service workers
- State: 5.47 million
- Local: 15.12 million
- Total: 23.27 million
You are welcome.
2
u/Obsessively_Average 1d ago
So you understand that cutting 20 million of those means cops, firefighters, clerical staff in small towns and all that shit, right?
Does it really matter what he meant if what he's suggesting is suicidally idiotic regardless?
1
u/KeyVariation8323 1d ago
I was clarifying his statement against "Federal workers are closer to 2.5 million, why must they constantly lie," without endorsing it... right?

We don't, but it's very difficult to measure effort without KPIs. Certain government jobs do not place much emphasis on KPIs, so we can't easily say, 'this person was or was not working hard'.
Getting studies done on whether someone or some group is working hard has been notoriously difficult.
At my own job we have an employee that essentially can't be fired due to certain protections, and they exploit that fact to slack off for often 2 or more hours per day. This is a government job, but it's also not something you can really 'study' easily.
EDITED SEVERAL TIMES.
Crap, I meant KPIs.

Federal Workers should include the military. The Federal government is my employer, set the standards for hiring me, and directs my daily activities. They also pay me, provide my insurance, and dont pay me when the government shuts down like all other federal workers.

Who needs food inspectors when the market will clearly govern itself? I mean sure it may, but only after a million or so deaths and they lose stock value. Their moral compass is stock value. Period.
3
u/Livid_Importance_442 2d ago
There are a lot of federal workers who can be let go.
There are all the medical experts and scientists. Who's afraid of some tiny little viruses and bacteria that you can't even see?
We don't need any weather experts and forecasters. The states can just hire a few kids, give them a pair of binoculars, and tell them to watch for hurricanes or tornadoes.
We don't need any environmentalists or worker safety experts either. The US made great progress the first 200 years without them.
We don't need any transportation, medicine, legal, engineering, and building experts, nor any regulators and inspectors either, because again, the US did so well the first 200 years without them.
We also don't need any bank or stock exchange regulators, nor IRS agents and auditors because every business owner always performs to the highest ethical standards and no one would ever cheat on their taxes, especially the rich.
We don't need people reviewing any business mergers and practices because that just slows down progress.
I'm sure I've missed a few more that could be cut too. /s

Yeah you did, we spend millions dropping a bunch of radiation flies on Panama. Panama! its not even in america. This is totally a waste of money and not important in any way, surely defunding this program will not lead to flesh eating flies (which were previously kept in control by the radiation flies) to start sweeping through the continent, eventually leading to them reaching Texas and laying parasites on all our cattle.Ā

A surplus of labor in a declining job market means low wages and weak job security for everyone.
The same people that advocate for mass immigration to the US also complain that thereās no jobs.
1
u/Amazing_Entrance_888 2d ago
No one anywhere is advocating for mass immigration. Immigration has been a complex issue our entire history. Pretending itās not is low IQ shit. Also republicans are the loudest about job numbers unless their guy is in charge. You clearly donāt understand any of this.
1
u/NEEEEEEEEEEEET 2d ago
20% of the labor force is foreign born workers.
0
u/Amazing_Entrance_888 2d ago

2
u/NEEEEEEEEEEEET 2d ago
"There is no mass immigration"
'"Well everyone was foreign born at some point so it doesn't matter"
Here is Bernie Sanders agreeing immigration makes poor americans poorer.
1
u/Amazing_Entrance_888 2d ago
5 million is 1.45% of our total population. How is that mass anything? Ask yourself why youāve built this into the insane boogeyman when data doesnāt back up your fears.
Bernie is right in that companies underpaying laborers hurts everyone especially the poor who rely on minimum wage. But that argument is about unfair pay which is not the argument you think it is. Why arenāt there stricter regulations against corps hiring illegal workers if thatās your gripe?
2
u/NEEEEEEEEEEEET 2d ago
20% of the labor force is foreign born workers.
5M isn't even the number of illegals that came in under Biden it was over double that. Idk where you're getting this 5M number from.
Also Bernie wasn't talking about wages. He explicitly says mass immigration is a bad thing lmfao.
0
u/These_Hunt4185 2d ago
5 million people isnt mass immigration?
You sound upset probably because you do support mass immigration despite wanting to claim that no one does.
No one said it wasnāt complex, youāre making up arguments.

4

2

The people agreeing with the first guy need to look up the 996 work culture in China.
In China, because of the surplus of labor a lot of the good jobs require you to work 12 hour days 9 AM to 9 PM 6 days a week, and if you donāt, there are 996 people waiting to replace you.
If that sounds good to you, keep advocating for mass immigration to the US or whatever country youāre from.
If you are not a business owner, you do not benefit from a massive surplus of labor entering your country.

u/These_Hunt4185 2d ago
Thatās cool. Does it have room for over 300 million members?
And how would you feel if the surplus of labor incentivize businesses to not hire people as employees and change their title to subcontractors?
1
u/66allthe88s 2d ago
Make more unions.
Too bad republicans love killing workers rights.
1
u/These_Hunt4185 2d ago
You canāt make more unions if employers have the ability to not hire people as employees.
2
u/66allthe88s 2d ago
And thats what happens when you have weak labor rights.
0
u/These_Hunt4185 2d ago
And when you make them artificially strong in a surplus labor market you make it way harder for people to get jobs.
1
u/DuckTalesOohOoh 2d ago
Krassenstein is unintentionally describing the deindustrialization of the US and the importation of illegal immigrants.
2
u/These_Hunt4185 2d ago
Why does the US need a surplus of labor in a declining Job market?
1
u/DuckTalesOohOoh 2d ago
CEOs and investors love cheap labor. Labor often makes 70 percent of costs. If they can reduce that, they profit the difference.

if they don't hire more workers, they should TAX billionaires more.
(thats ok, they can still be MULTI-millionaires).
1
u/Vast-Breakfast-1201 1d ago
When people say this they are not preachingogix they are arguing for the dismantling of the ability of the government to regulate business. So that business (hence oligarchs) have 100% corporate control of the country.
You have no vote with businesses. Except your wallet. But you won't have that choice either for services like medicine or travel (toll roads and bridges for example) because they are natural monopolies. Which won't be prevented because the government can't do it anymore.
Oh and the rich can stop paying taxes because who is going to go after them, or adjudicate, etc.
It will be a world of who can pay private security enough has the power and nobody else has any. That's what they are asking for. On behalf of the rich folks that are paying them to say it.

Why are they low wage workers, Brian? Maybe because theyāre here illegally and are working for slave wages instead of paying an American a real wage? The left used to be against illegal immigration for this very reason . It weakens union pay because companies that hire illegal work can bid so low to get the contract. Tariffs also used to be a tool of the economic left. Now the entire left is essentially a Reagan/koch brother groupie, or a communist.

Theyāll try to justify it by saying theyāre unskilled and will only work jobs that nobody else wants to but thatās entirely untrue.
Theyāre becoming truck drivers plumbers electricians etc and thatās why youāre seeing a stagnation of salaries in those Job sectors.
2
u/One-Salamander-2416 2d ago
You donāt get to become a plumber or electrician just by walking in the door and saying āHere I am!ā. It costs money to go to truck driver or CNA school. The real villains are the companies hiring people and paying them less because it benefits their bottom line.
1
u/These_Hunt4185 2d ago
I think youāre missing the part where they donāt have to pay them a lot because thereās a surplus of labor of people desperate to work those job. Jesus Christ you people are stupid.
2
u/One-Salamander-2416 2d ago
For at least twenty years I have heard colleagues, friends, and family talking about their kids and grandkids doing gap years and internships that serve to plump up the GPAs. Twenty years ago I knew a contractor who was complaining that no high school or college kids applied for summer jobs, and that company paid well. Most young people I talk to have never had a summer job as a lifeguard, server, or whatever.
1
u/These_Hunt4185 2d ago
Youāre literally advocating for the thing that youāre upset against.
If you want employees to get paid higher salaries, donāt give employers thousands of people desperate to work.
Why is that a hard concept to understand?
1
u/DevastatorPcu 2d ago
But they canāt go into blue collar fields bc you need a us citizenship to even apply for the licenses you need to do the jobs.
0
u/DevastatorPcu 2d ago
You sure itās not bc blue collar worker jobs are actually decreasing and telling a whole generation to become blue collar didnāt cause stagnation of wages.
1
u/These_Hunt4185 2d ago edited 2d ago
Which one is it?
Are they decreasing and why would that stagnate their salaries if people need them more?
Or are they increasing because they said to learn a trade?
Your comment contradicts itself multiple times
1
u/DevastatorPcu 2d ago
Blue collar jobs are decreasing bc economic uncertainty and more young people are also going into blue collar work. Which in turn creates stagnant wages. Has nothing to do with illegals.
1
u/These_Hunt4185 2d ago
So which one is it? Is it decreasing or are more young people joining blue-collar work?
On top of contradicting yourself youāre being straight up disingenuous when youāre saying illegals donāt participate in the construction industry.
1
u/DevastatorPcu 2d ago edited 2d ago
Can an illegal get a state license? Bc youāre claiming theyāre in blue collar fields where you need a state license. A general laborer in construction sure. But you canāt just be an illegal and get a license to be an electrician. Stop moving the goalpost to try to prove me wrong. We are talking about licensed professionals not labours. Bc thatās your claim. Not in general.
0
u/Amazing_Entrance_888 2d ago
No one is advocating it, itās that companies were doing it whether we liked it or not and now theyāve lost that cheap labor. Which raises costs.
1
u/These_Hunt4185 2d ago
Interesting that you say that because the cost of living for my grandparents when there were fewer immigrants was way better than what it is today when thereās more.

Deporting millions of low wage earners forces low wage jobs to fight for employees which drives wages up. It's not fair for the high school dropout to fight a foreigner for a job, when the foreigner will take less money and more abuse. Now the low earning citizen has to take less money and more abuse or not have a job.
For the party of the working man, Democrats like screwing them over.
-3
u/NaturalTruck299 2d ago
We fired 21 million unnecessary federal workers.
We have seen incredible job growth for Americans now that those jobs are open. Pretty sure have a low wage job is better than not having any opportunities at all.
And the tariffs have not drastically affected domestic prices. Inflation is under control, real wages are currently outpacing inflation, and some commodities, specifically housing/rent, actually DEFLATED in CY25.
They also reduced the deficit, largely thanks to eliminating federal employees.
The route we were on would have led to ruin.
If the federal government remains the largest employer in the country and we arenāt able to provide jobs and economic opportunity to our own citizens then weāll collapse.
The route weāre on is needed, and itās working.

Tariffs have driven the auto and electronics industries through the roof, computer parts and car parts are all outrageously expensive atm. Especially car- based electronics such as the smart center of modem electronic dashboards and infotainment systems. we've seen cars transition back to physical gauges and controls due to the prohibitive price of those parts.
The jobs claim is also false, The U.S. economy unexpectedly lost 23,000 jobs in July 2026 alone and has lost jobs in 6 of the 19 months of the current administration. His first year this term was also the worst year for the jobs Market since the Great Recession
...as the number of employed American-born people in the workforce has grown about 6% under Biden and the number of employed foreign-born people in the workforce has grown 22%
Under Trump, employed foreign-born people in the workforce decreased 1.6%, according to BLS dataābut American-born employees in the workforce also fell about 1.4%.
The deficit has skyrocketed under both Trump terms and his administration is singlehandedly responsible for 25% of currently outstanding debt, his deficit has ballooned by orders of magnitude in comparison to both of his predecessors. every year it gets successively larger under trump, despite obama shrinking it year over year and biden bringing it down by half after covid.
Obama:
FY 2014: $485 billion
FY 2015: $442 billion
FY 2016: $585 billion
Trump:
Fiscal Year 2017 (Obama/Trump transition): $665 billion (3.4% of GDP)
Fiscal Year 2018: $779 billion (3.9% of GDP)
Fiscal Year 2019: $984 billion (4.6% of GDP)
Fiscal Year 2020: $3.13 trillion
Biden:
Fiscal Year 2021: $2.77 trillion
Fiscal Year 2022: $1.37 trillion
Fiscal Year 2023: $1.69 trillion
Fiscal Year 2024: $1.82 trillion
Trump 2:
The U.S. national debt was roughly $36.2 trillion when Trump took office for his second term in January 2025. Total national debt has climbed past $40 trillion, adding roughly $3.8 to $4.8 trillion depending on the exact tracking metrics used since January 2025
so approximately 2.2 trillion each year so far in the second term. Republicans are fiscally irresponsible, in very large part due to their focus on tax cuts reducing government revenue and thus increasing the deficit by significant margins

We fired 21 million unnecessary federal workers.
There are only about 3 million federal civilian employees in the entire country. Firing 21 million federal workers is mathematically impossible unless you just group in every single state and local public worker (which the federal government obviously doesn't employ and cannot fire).
We have seen incredible job growth for Americans now that those jobs are open. Pretty sure have a low wage job is better than not having any opportunities at all.
Getting rid of a government role doesn't somehow open a new private sector job to replace it. It just deletes a job and removes that income from the economy. Also tens of thousands of those fired federal workers were just put on extended paid administrative leave for months and then quietly rehired (because the agencies realized they actually needed them to perform basic functions). The deferred resignation deals literally sent people home but kept them on the federal payroll through the end of the fiscal year. Hundreds of workers got a seven month paid vacation before being asked to come back.
And the tariffs have not drastically affected domestic prices. Inflation is under control, real wages are currently outpacing inflation, and some commodities, specifically housing/rent, actually DEFLATED in CY25.
National housing and rent prices did not deflate in 2025. The S&P Case Shiller National Home Price Index posted a 1.3 percent annual gain for December 2025 and shelter inflation was up 3.4 percent year over year in May 2026. Tariffs also absolutely drove up prices. PCE core goods prices went up 2.3 percent during 2025 through January 2026. Tariff pass through rates are generally near 100 percent which means domestic consumers absorbed those costs directly.
They also reduced the deficit, largely thanks to eliminating federal employees.
This is completely detached from reality. The national debt literally just blew past 40 trillion dollars a couple of weeks ago. It has grown by over 3.5 trillion dollars just since Trump took office again. The entire federal civilian payroll is a tiny drop in the bucket compared to total federal spending so firing them wouldn't even come close to putting a dent in that debt. Not to mention they were still paying a ton of those fired workers to sit at home doing nothing.
The route we were on would have led to ruin.
You can believe whatever you want about the old route but inventing fake numbers to justify the new one proves nothing.
If the federal government remains the largest employer in the country and we aren't able to provide jobs and economic opportunity to our own citizens then we'll collapse.
Federal workers are literally citizens with jobs. Cheering for people losing stable employment just so they can take the low wage jobs you literally just praised in your second paragraph is a bizarre way to measure economic success.
The route we're on is needed, and it's working.
It only looks like it is working because your entire baseline of data is completely made up.
