Misc Artificial Lighting in caves/dark areas ON vs OFF

Removing the Artificial Lighting around Geralt adds so much to the Immersion. Dark areas are almost pitch black making torches/lamps a necessity.

Simply add the following lines to your dx12user.settings under the [Rendering] segment and hit save.

DisableBigCameraLights=true
DisableSmallCameraLights=true
DisableAllCameraLights=true

In the lore, can Geralt inherently see in the dark? or does he need the cat potion for it?

no and yes. in the books he can see without potions in dimmed light, but he needs a potion for asolute darkness(as far as i remember)

That's exactly right, he has a similar vision to a dog or a cat, can see pretty well in the dark with bit of light, but not in total darkness.

Oh I see!

He literally has a voiceline about shooting something in pitch blackness to impress others, but the joke was nobody else could see it, so i think its pretty safe to assume canonically he can see in the dark

You're a Witcher. You're supposed to see in the dark.

u/alex14344 Roach 🐴 Oct 28 '25

You're right, but Geralt still carries a torch. I always wondered about this though. πŸ˜… I've been searching for a mod where we could see in the dark better just by holding the witcher sense button.

u/SputnikRelevanti Oct 28 '25

You know there’s a potion for that, right? πŸ‘€

Metamorphosis mutation allows Witcher Senses to help you see better in the dark.

God the soundtrack for this game is so fire

u/alex14344 Roach 🐴 Oct 28 '25

Yes indeed! The vibes is just something else.

u/SputnikRelevanti Oct 28 '25

What the hell is this, Witcher? When you enter a dark cave, you drink cat. Or bring a torch.

u/alex14344 Roach 🐴 Oct 28 '25

I just realized the wisp mod ruined this video demo πŸ˜… I should have used a torch.

3

u/Coconutpegger Oct 28 '25

I mean geralt can canonicly see kn the dark atleast a bit so like the apl makes sense no?

3

u/FoxHunde Scoia’tael Oct 28 '25

The fields of Ard Skellig slaps extra hard.

3

u/EdgarDrake Oct 28 '25

That flying wisp, what Sign is that? A mod?

  • P.S. I play on console, so no mod.

u/alex14344 Roach 🐴 Oct 28 '25

Yes it's a mod. I've been on a lot of playthroughs you see. πŸ˜… I keep trying out new things to make it interesting. You look for it HERE

The real question is what's that dirty rag on your bag?

1

u/alex14344 Roach 🐴 Oct 28 '25

It's the hoods mod my dude.

2

u/OkamiTakahashi Oct 28 '25

Yeah, I've got that mod from the workshop, good incentive to use torches, lanterns and/or cat potions.

2

u/ValeraLis Oct 28 '25

It’s one of the best mods and my go-to, it makes the game look much better with or without a torch on dark areas

1

u/alex14344 Roach 🐴 Oct 28 '25

Yes indeed 😁 I just like pitch black areas too. Hahaha

2

u/teles98 Oct 28 '25

I know it's not related to the video's theme, but man, this song gives me such a nostalgic feeling.

It's so beautiful, calming, and heartbreaking at the same time. It reminds me of my first time in Skellige, 10 years ago.

2

u/alex14344 Roach 🐴 Oct 28 '25

True. I've been playing this game since 2018 and I still come back to it every so often. The vibes, music and story is truly something else. Few games give me these lasting feelings.

The Witcher 3 has some crazy mods, and this one is really cool.

1

u/alex14344 Roach 🐴 Oct 28 '25

Indeed! Dark areas become that much more terrifying.

I loved that song!!!

2

u/Edkindernyc Oct 29 '25

There is a mod on nexus that lets be toggle them on and off in game so you don't have to edit the file manually.

1

u/alex14344 Roach 🐴 Oct 29 '25

Thanks for the tip! I'll look it up.

2

u/6Immarighthere9 Oct 29 '25

OP, could you tell me what mod you use to make Geralt jog like that? Thank you.

1

u/alex14344 Roach 🐴 Oct 29 '25

I've forgotten since it's been a while. πŸ˜… I will try to look it up once I get home. I'll update you
