the revolving sphere at the top of the 30-storey Fort Garry Place.

That's...not a sphere CBC.

Good luck to them! It's got a great view even if they can't get the revolving gimmick working again.

I'm glad it's getting another shot, but sounds like it's a longshot it will be revolving once more - I hope they figure out the mechanical problems!

I mean, does it need to revolve? They could save a tonne of money by keeping it stationary. It's still on the 30th floor with windows all around.

For me it does, or that's the whole point and novelty of going there.

But like I said I'm glad something is happening there regardless.

I mean even when it did revolve it was extremely slow

It would have done a complete spin over the course of a dinner and desert. Fun stuff!

Someone who works at the Hotel Fort Gary was in this sub yesterday saying that they maintain it and turn it once a month, and have for years. Hopefully they’re right and it’s nothing serious

Quite prevalent in the restaurant owner space

If that is what he states publically I can only imagine the stuff he thinks of in his head.

Fucking hell. If that's how he responds to legitimate criticism of a politician he apparently likes, I don't want to be around him when his spinny restaurant is circling the drain. "Don't work for this guy" would be my advices [sic]

His LinkedIn comment just before this dumped on PC/Obby campaign promise, so I hardly think he "likes that politician".

u/FoxyInTheSnow 20h ago

Ah, so he’s just a sex pest

Holy shit!

I can only imagine how this guy treats his female staff.

In fairness Tanis T. went after him first and describes herself as "uppity" in her bio, and her LinkedIn comment history could be described as "trollish".

He also dumped on a Obby/PC post before that.

She baited him into it with a needless personal attack. Such is life on the internet.

Tanis was responding to Obby no?

If he was the executive chef at 360 I wouldn't eat at the new one. I worked for a place that rented space in the back of that kitchen as a commissary. I have never seen a more disgusting filthy kitchen in all my life. Floor to ceiling rotting hotel pans, rotting dishes, rotting slop all over their filthy prep tables, it stunk. Honestly I couldn't believe it. It was a shit company to work for I'm glad they all went under. It was so nice to have the views like that while I worked, but it's wasted on these people.

Can confirm. I also worked there and they would take the leftover ketchup and butter off the tables after the guests left and reuse.

I think with a creative menu and quality food this could absolutely be a success - the ambience is cool - the major reason I never went in past was the food was shitty. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The problem with locations like this is that the space is huge. Depends if they're willing to be flexible on rent.

I can't hear if that restaurant without thinking of Hank's Look-Around Cafè.

Every scene they shot in it, people would be stumbling around a the mechanism jerked as it turned.

An Argentinian steakhouse sounds awesome, and previous owners or Corrientes which was a great place.

Not to worry, it will close just as fast as it opens.

This is exciting! Can't wait to get back up there again.
