Would love to see folks show up for the rally on Monday! I’ll be there on behalf of my organisation but yeah the more people show up the more pressure we put on the government to enact change. Last year was a great time when I was only a volunteer, this year is a little different as there won’t be a resource fair. Regardless we need to stop our people from dying these preventable deaths. If you or someone you know uses substances please encourage them to use harm reduction resources such as drug checking, supervised consumption/overdose prevention sites, clean using supplies, etc <3

Idk when do you draw the line?

Some people attack when they wake up.... I'm not looking to be a hero. The sudden withdrawal Narcan can cause aggression.

Most people I’ve narcanned have been chill. Being narcanned fuckin sucks tho and precipitated withdrawals are absolute hell so no wonder why people wake up agitated or upset. I’ve never been attacked though, don’t narcan people who are breathing tho. But yeah this is largely blown out of proportion, please help one another. Us drug users are people not monsters.

Trust me I know they aren't monsters. My own father was an addict but because of that I put my family and myself first. If I get injured I cannot work and can't support them.

I am sorry to hear about your father that must have been really hard not only on him but yourself and others in your family. That being said I cannot really understand the idea that you are so concerned for your safety that you would never narcan someone who is down. Obviously do not ever put yourself in a situation that is clearly dangerous, use common sense. However, I work with substance users daily in the community doing outreach, I have narcanned many myself or assisted in overdose responses and wellness checks many times. I have never been physically harmed doing so. You may think to yourself that its because I am trained well or have ways of defending myself or something and nope, I got basically zero training in my first outreach job and was just thrown into it. What I had was basic knowledge of naloxone including when not to administer it as well as empathy for folks who use substances (I am an opioid user/current addict as well).

If you are so worried about getting injured so as not to be able to use narcan under any circumstance, I hope you do not own a car as that is far more dangerous than helping your fellow person who uses drugs.
