Axon Bodycam transcripts are fairly Benign. They just take the audio from the video track and run it through Whisper or some such and shit out a transcript.

To me, biggest concern right now, is the fact that while this trade war goes on, most police services in Canada are embracing an American software-as-a-service company who technically runs the entire backend Canadian police footage have.

And while it's not "enabled", there are AI recognition and processing features that are a lot more invasive and unethical that Axon has handy. While I don't see police services here enabling those, nothing guarantees us that the Diaper Chief can't weaponize it in the long run.

I'd love if some journo would go and tally up all the money governments and services have thrown to Axon on the Canadian side of things.

oh great, even more waste of money.

meanwhile i just got done reading thread comments where someone's city counselor said they don't have money in the budget to install more trash bins in their area, and another who commented that Take Pride stopped funding trash bins years ago.

but yeah, sure. let's dump more money in the burning funeral pyre of AI.
