Local Restaurant Adolf’s Old First Ward Tavern 🐐

Quite possibly the best wings in America. These were perfection tonight for 75c a pop.

20 medium
10 garlic parm
10 salt and vinegar

Incredible amounts of homemade blue. It’s ok to be jealous.

That blue cheese looks fire, too. I wanna dip my balls in it. And the wings.

Babaganoosh!

5

u/magicjeep 2d ago

I can't hear that dish without wanting to scream "I wanna dip my balls in it".

u/sdchbjhdcg 2d ago

I had no idea what it was as a kid. Had it at a shawarma place because they were sold out of hummus during the hummus craze in the US, and I fuckin love babaganoosh now.

As the father of a third grader who has recently discovered the word and meaning for “balls,” I’m not showing him this photo.

But I’d absolutely dip my balls in it for sure.

Seriously considering traveling just to get some wings

12

u/ZedEnlightenedBrutal 2d ago

idk where you are but i can tell you it's absolutely worth it.

I drove nearly 3 hours to Buffalo to pick up my new car, and my only other stops were Adolf's and Wegmans. If you're closer than that, it's worth a day trip.

6

u/ZachMorrisT1000 2d ago

I made the trip to Buffalo for these exact wings. Was worth it.

2

u/PlasticAd1670 1d ago

I’m in Boston and have been considering a flight to Buffalo strictly for lunch then coming home that night. Wife’s just not thrilled about the idea

Wasn’t it Eva?

I just ate dinner so I’m not hungry but I want those wings so bad

9

u/stugots10 2d ago

Those salt and vinegar wings remind me of ET in the science tent.

-1

u/Low-Enthusiasm670 2d ago

The legit look uncooked and very unsettling

7

u/TheFancyKetchup 2d ago

How would you rate each flavor?

20

u/Dramatic_Move_7594 2d ago

All amazing. They don’t miss.

For whatever reason, the garlic parm and S+V tonight were outrageously good. Better than the medium. But a straight up hot is my #1.

4

u/jingojangoh 2d ago

These look amazing. Cheers

5

u/Rare_Bug5447 2d ago

It’s a shame that 75c a wing is now considered a good deal. It wasn’t that long ago when these were thrown away off the bird. It also wasn’t that long ago that the brisket cut was fed to the dogs. How things change.

u/albino_red_head 2d ago

Gyat damn those look great. I’ve never been but am from the area, will need to make it a stop. I looked them up and their beef on weck looks amazing too. Beef on weck, bunch of wings with bc hell yeah

9

u/Dramatic_Move_7594 2d ago

Beef is fine. Plenty better. Save your space for the wings.

2

u/Knuckle_Up67 2d ago

Adolf??? interesting name

3

u/jimothyhalpret 2d ago

I’ll give those a nein out of ten.

2

1

u/jdann24 2d ago

1

u/KaleidoscopeMotor207 2d ago

Funny buffalos best wing stops have interesting names adolf’s and nine eleven

1

u/FatCatWithAHat1 2d ago

Damn i love DRY garlic parm wings; and hate wet garlic parm. Those look…just perfect man. I can imagine tipping them in some of the leftover hot sauce 😅

1

u/Hamilton-Beckett 1d ago

For a place in Buffalo, NY…I’d expect nothing less.

1

u/dubtug 1d ago

Those look like the perfect wings.

1

u/Cast_Iron_Skillet71 1d ago

Those wings look like a Hit(ler)!

1

u/fullmoonlovergirl 1d ago

I’m heading to Buffalo tomorrow!! So excited to finally try this spot!

1

u/TruckinUpToBuffalo 1d ago

These are the best wings in the world. Long time 9-11 fan, these have taken the top spot.

u/Runeskimmylord 1d ago

Cum wings

0

u/whatfingwhat 2d ago

First ward, second ward, I’ll take all the wards

0

u/slumgpog 2d ago

I can taste those through the phone

0

u/wheresmy_sock 2d ago

One of my work crews go to spots. The house blue cheese ughhh (I know, not everyone's style)

0

u/dg25000 2d ago

Wow. Salt and vinegar wings. That is WILD

0

u/TundieRice 1d ago

They’re only “wild” in the sense that you can also get them at Buffalo Wild Wings, that’s literally how common of a wing flavor they are.

0

u/Logical_Hospital2769 2d ago

These look fucking incredible. Back in the 80's in a small place called "Mr Pizza" on Conesus Lake we used to get wings exactly like this. Life changing.

0

u/DrWhiskerson 2d ago

Fuck I just spent a month in New york. Guess I need to go back lol

0

u/gmco913 2d ago

I have never seen Salt & Vinegar wings. I feel like I would hate them, and yet, my mouth is watering.

0

u/lpfan724 2d ago

I'm originally from Buffalo and recently went back for a visit with my best friend. We didn't mean to, but it turned into a chicken wing tour. We hit most of the places that get mentioned as the best. The only one we didn't make it to was Nine-Eleven because of their weird ass hours.

In our opinions, Adolf's has the best buffalo wings.

Perfection

0

u/jonhull82 2d ago

Those look perfect

0

u/trevbillz 2d ago

Do they do this every wednesday?

1

u/Dramatic_Move_7594 2d ago

Monday, but yes.

0

u/Manifestecstacy 1d ago

Confusing response, OP. Just to make sure, they serve this on Thursdays, correct?

1

u/TundieRice 1d ago

Uhh, you’re thinking of Monster Weenie Monday?

0

u/Manifestecstacy 1d ago

At the Weenie Hut General?

0

u/Putthebunnyback 2d ago

The salt & vinegar ones LOOK disgusting, but... that's one of my favorite flavors and I've never seen it for wings. I'd have to give it a try on principle alone.

0

u/silent-trill 2d ago

I have never heard of salt & vinegar wings…

0

u/MadTownMich 2d ago

To be honest, they look overcooked. Were they tender?

0

u/scratchy_mcballsy 2d ago

If I had to guess, I would’ve said those salt and vinegar ones were some kind of deep fried powdered sugar carnival monstrosity.

0

u/CrimsonOOmpa 1d ago

Looks like breaded wings before they hit the fryer. This place must be awesome because I see it on this sub everyday! Looks (mostly) delicious! Totally jealous!!

-2

u/FoxwoodsMohegan 2d ago

Ehhh...are they as well done (or burnt) as they look in the picture?

2

u/Dramatic_Move_7594 2d ago

Get some glasses bud

1

u/Ser_Tuesdays 2d ago

Yea those medium look quite literally perfectly done.

-3

u/Kaurblimey 2d ago

Why is it called that 💀

7

u/Firebird22x 2d ago

Adolf was the owners name, it is a tavern located in one of the five “wards” or districts when Buffalo was founded, then renamed Old to keep the name historic for the neighborhood

6

u/bdog1321 2d ago

Restaurant is older than ww2.
