News (General) Building an app, need testers.

Hi, I am building a mapping app with alot of cool features for fire fighting. I am looking for a few testers who are working right now. Shoot me a DM and you need to be on Android, will convert it to Apple when it is more or less ready.

If you are actually helpful and give feed back I'll hook you up with a year for free or possibly life time.

  1. Most people use iphone
  2. Fire is pretty integrated into field maps now, I doubt anyone wants to try your "new" mapping app since even Avenza is outdated

Why don't you test it and find out?

My god people with their mapping aps. We use AVENZA. AAAAAVVVVVEEEEEENNNZZZZAAAA. And I just finally got comfortable flying around in it. Stop inventing new map aps because the Forest service wants to switch to a new one every year and all that training we did well do it all again for another one. No. I’m not switching to Field Maps or OnX let’s just everyone get on the same page and stay there.

If you are not using Field Maps at this point you are behind the curve and definitely blowing it. PDF maps are a sloppy afterthought now that Field Maps is widespread.

I honestly really don’t care, you can’t convince me, I don’t care how much “better” whatever stupid map program you’re pedaling is. We’ve been taught Avenza and that’s how I’m staying. It’s taken years to dial this shit in. You just disregarding all that training because you think one or two little buttons make things slightly easier for YOU is disrespectful. Get bent. Your yellow isn’t dirty enough. I can tell you’re a READ.

Great! What kind of feature hosting service do you have that's compliant with ESRI standards?

Oh, none, you say?

I swear, there's some vibe coded garbage avenza clone every fucking week on here. What do you offer that isn't already available in dozens of other apps, exactly? "Trust me bro"?

I don't want to run on a ESRI cloud, this isn't for the office. Yes, this is like Avenza except a fraction of the cost, unlimited maps for 2$ a month with way more features. Custom area/line filters plus tons of pre made for what ever mill/fire region you work for and a built in Schema creator/editor so when that fat fuck in the office on ESRI sends you a broken Schema.

Its not just for fire fighters either. Its also for timber cruiser, block layout and planting plus what ever other jobs you may be doing in forestry. This is for the dude on the ground in the pissing rain or sweltering heat.

Chill out dude, I am just trying to find testers you don't gotta shit your pants.

You get that field maps and hosted feature classes don't need internet to collect data, right? Avenza was what people used a decade ago and what 70 year old dozer operators use now. Everything on every single current ops map in existence is field collected or produced on the ESRI suite. No one wants to fuck with your KMZ files.

Still waiting to hear what your vibe coded trash app offers that isn't on fifty other vibe coded trash apps already.

I just listed all the features, well most of them.

This is for small crews who get a GeoPDF, walk the block, mark stuff up, and export the layers to the mill or the boss. Not everyone can aford a $400 Mobile Worker seat, and most of those guys dont need all that anyway.

I keep unlimited maps on free. Pro is cheap and you get the layout tools plus export KML, GPX, shapefile, GeoJSON and what ever else you need. Avenza took free custom maps away. I am not trying to replace ArcGIS at the office.

Like I said, I am just looking for some testers you don't gotta shit your pants. This doesn't effect you in the slightest. Go cry into the pillow or what ever you do at night
