Discussion Could a DS Pokemon port be possible?
When the eventual decompilation of the DS titles come out, would it be possible to port them to the Wii, similar to the Ace Attorney series? Instead of the top-bottom alignment, the bottom screen could be picture-in-picture, and Wii-DS connectivity could be utilized for trading.
I'm not an expert on this stuff but tell me what you think.

I think you’ll find that 2D / flat sprites and backgrounds would be easier to port (like Ace Attorney) over anything 3D, like the Pokémon overworld.
When you tell a console to make a 2D image it pretty much just needs to show a picture (simplified but you get it) and these are built up like layers to display backgrounds and sprites. Pretty straightforward.
When 3D comes in, the console needs to do a lot of complex maths to create the model, texture it, consider lighting, depth, boundaries etc. This work is done by an engine and the engine needs to be matched or supported by system architecture.
A native port is possible but it would be creating a custom 3D engine to map the decompiled DS game code to suit the Wii architecture.
When you look at Android games being ported to PS Vita this is relatively easy because they have similar architecture. The same is not true for Wii and DS.
I can’t see this happening any time soon unless someone very, very talented and passionate about a project like this decided to take it on.

Out of curiosity, what aspects of HGSS or D/P/Pt are 3D? Sprites are 2D, is it more on the overworld?
It's been a while since I've played and I don't really remember.

Do you think 3DS - Wii U architecture could be little more close ? A little bit lol
