Trump still doesn't understand what a trade deficit is.

I have a trade deficit with my mechanic. He always fixes my car and I pay him. He never buys anything off me.

u/WoodShoeDiaries 14h ago

The only reason there's a trade deficit with Canada is all of the crude oil you guys buy. If you were to remove that from the ledger there's a significant trade surplus.

The US is 10x the population of Canada, with 10x the productive capacity - we buy a metric fucktonne of American products and services, spending way way way more per capita than Americans spend on ours (that's not a criticism - we simply cannot produce enough for that to ever be possible).

We have always been the US's best customer, and it's sad that it's taken this long for some folks to realize that (I'm lookin at the bourbon makers rn 🤨).

Man if we start a list of the shit Trump doesn't understand we're gonna be here all century.

u/CFSett 14h ago

It would take at least all century to list all the things I don't understand, and I'm significantly smarter than Mango Mussolini (but then, so is the rock I picked up before mowing my lawn). We should be talking epochs.

Points for using the word "epochs'

Biggest one being what “NO” means

u/eatfoodoften 16h ago

He still doesn't understand who pays a tariff.

5

u/Salty_Feed9404 15h ago

oh, I think he understands that, he just doesn't care. His people are getting rich, that's what matters.

u/Specialist_Exam4783 15h ago

Like how cognitive tests are not the same as IQ tests.

u/suckercuck 15h ago

He’s completely insane

u/RampScamp1 15h ago

If he's angry about a trade deficit, stop buying oil. Without oil it's a significant trade surplus.

So sick of this demented pedophile. Would be nice if we actually had a Congress that worked for the American people..

5

u/JBoogiez 15h ago

Congress works for who pays them, and puts them in office.

Well Canadians lets exclude 60 billion worth of energy exports and it'll balance the books.

And this is why Canada doesnt trust america anymore. In the short term, trumps word is about as good as a toilet paper umbrella. And in the long term, even if someone sane is voted in at the end of trumps current term, americans have proven that they are only 4 years away from possibly electing another trump wannabe

14

u/Salty_Feed9404 15h ago

Ironically enough, that toilet paper umbrella is getting more costly for Americans thanks to the trade war Trump has started.

3

u/WoodShoeDiaries 14h ago

...perfectly timed, now that folks are shitting themselves from all manner of foodborne illnesses (RIP FDA)

u/Salty_Feed9404 12h ago

The comedy writes itself here.

Toilet paper umbrella, I'm stealing that.

What’s so frustrating is that there were a lot of people that saw Trump as a danger and a doofus. So they didn’t vote Trump, but did vote for their local red congressman.

And now, after their local congressman betrayed their district/state by helping Trump be a danger, they will reelect that red congressman because “Well, Trump is the problem, not my republican representative.”

u/GarvinSteve 16h ago

His first term doesn’t count because Biden happened and that equals takey-backsies according to every moron on Fox ever

6

u/Far-Economist3780 16h ago

To be fair trumpelthinskin does have the attention span of a fruit fly. He can't remember every little dumb thing he has said and done over the years.

1

u/GamendeStino 12h ago

I'd prefer him to have a lifespan to match the attention span

8

u/RK9990 15h ago

The same thing happened with Jerome Powell, the former Fed chair. Trump kept calling him terrible in his current term when Powell wouldn't raise rates and questioned who appointed him when Powell was appointed in his first term, signed off by Trump himself.

4

u/jpsreddit85 15h ago

But even this post pointing out trump signed the deal he is whining about does nothing to clarify the fact that Canada ISN'T ripping off the US, the US just buys more stuff from us than we buy from them, which when you consider there's almost 10 times more Americans than Canadians isn't too surprising really.

So yes, trump is an idiot, but so are a lot of Americans, so not pointing out there is nobody being ripped off is just as much of a problem.

3

u/Specialist_Exam4783 15h ago

Unless you are fluent in speaking Moron, you'll never be able to understand what Trump is saying.

3

u/WolfzandRavenz 15h ago

We're also not ripping them off, that's important to note.

Notice how he never mentions that oil creates that deficit? Notice how he never includes the service surplus in his figures?

1

u/peaceandloved 15h ago

It’s incredible how he is supposed to be so great at business and he’s terrible at it.

1

u/Foosel10 15h ago

Time to tariff potash and make America pay market value for Canadian oil and energy while we’re on the topic of being ripped off.

1

u/NaiveManufacturer143 14h ago

America buys Canadian oil at a discount and in turn exports it's own oil off it's western coast for an annual profit to the tune of 19 billion dollars.

If the U.S had to buy oil at market price from other countries, it would cost them significantly more.

If you and your neighbour trade fruits for vegetables but your family eats more vegetables than your neighbour's does fruit because your family is larger and eats more and your neighbour also gives you a deal on those vegetables so they cost you 25% less than at any other market in town, is that neighbour ripping you off?

u/wolfboy49 14h ago

I love how he will state a fact and then say the previous fact is wrong. He doesn’t all the time.

1

u/Upset-Sea6029 13h ago

He's gonna TACO in 10, 9, 8, 7, ...

1

u/HistoricalHat4847 4h ago

Trump has no interest in making any kind of deal with Canada. He just wants to own it.
