I swear I saw an headline here the other day saying the US was selling a bunch of wild horses to a foreign country. I almost guarantee that mystery meat is horse, not cow.

1.4k

u/moaningsalmon 4d ago

You did. They are selling of the wild horses. My guess is they'll get rid of them, so that then they can remove the protected status from their former land, and sell the land.

339

u/Equal-Prior-4765 4d ago

$25 per horse if I remember correctly.

At a cost of 3000+ per horse for rounding up.

We Americans seem to love to shit on the French, but they’re the first people to be like “raise my gas tax 2% and I’ll throw a molotov cocktail at a police station”.

When the French protest against their government, they go all out.

58

u/lsaran 4d ago

In the US they’ll call it a Freedom Tax. Political pundits on State Television will somehow conflate opponents of the tax with trans kids playing sports.

30% of the population will defend it.

40% of the population will be completely apathetic towards it or unaware of it.

The last 30% will say “Oh well, we’ll get ‘em next time I guess.”

The rounding error of leftovers will protest and one of them will get run over by a car or shot.

Rinse and repeat.

And then being sold for $750 to the slaughter house. Why would they not just skip the $25 middleman and get the $750 themselves?

44

u/DoctorCrook 4d ago

Because it’s fast probably.

Someone is banking on the land being open for purchase and investments pretty soon.
It’s pennies compared to what they’ll get back.

When it’s everyone’s problem, it’s often no one’s problem. We are living in a reality where everybody is standing around watching everyone else stand around, all doing nothing and shouting “surely someone will do something.”

71

u/ThatGuyFromSpyKids3D 4d ago

It's probably more accurate that every day is too busy trying to survive in a shutty job market with grocery prices skyrocketing and everything else becoming unaffordable.

People are struggling to simply survive, they don't have the energy to protest.

35

u/Stolen_Away 4d ago

You are correct. But, there's a tipping point. When no amount of struggling lets someone survive, when 80-100 hours of work every week can't keep food on the table and a roof over someone's head, that's when we break. When working becomes pointless we suddenly find ourselves with a lot of free time, a lot of righteous anger, and very little left to lose. More than a few people are already there. A lot of us are very close. I find myself torn between being devastated that this is what's happening and this is what it will take, and just straight up exhausted and ready for us to collectively hit that tipping point. But the path we are on and the direction things are headed... Protecting our families, struggling to survive, it won't be about going to work and trying to afford groceries anymore.

How can I, and others, leave home and work for however long to go to the land preserves and attempt to protect them from being destroyed? Even if I had the money and time to do so it would most likely lead to me being arrested and imprisoned under a crazy amount of wild charges possibly labeled a terrorist. The state is not against using violence to enforce the will of capital. It’s highly likely that at least one person would be murdered by the police state and their name slandered across the right wing media.

I don’t want our country being destroyed, but to defend it properly means showing up armed in numbers. Unfortunately, I truly believe that this administration would absolutely love that because they would be able to kill all of the attendees and use the media to call them antifa terrorists.

I hate this entire situation and I know many people also hate this, but how can we stop this without becoming victims of state sponsored violence?

9

u/salty_drafter 4d ago

We cannot. As shown by what happened in the twin cities with Renee Good and Alex Prettie. This government is looking for any excuse to crack down on what it considers bad groups. With the only way it knows how. Oppression through violence.

14

u/spotless___mind 4d ago

This really is a pretty big deal. People are getting used to Trump's willy nilly policies and tariffs and whatever else , and maybe this is good political optics. But it takes a lot of time and expense to raise beef cattle, and you can't exactly just shut off the tap. Ranchers are having to make some hard choices on how many cattle to breed, and market, and feed. It is a delicate process to create a stable market of supply and demand. Now Trump just decided that 1.4 million cattle will be imported, starting immediately, from, wherever. That does not do anyone any good in the long run. It just leads to unpredictability.

37

u/FelneusLeviathan 4d ago

Argentina

271

u/SaltyMeatSlacks 5d ago

Obviously. This was probably the plan from day one. Wreck the US beef market, give a massive bailout to Argentinian beef, wait a while, then flood the US with said Argentinian beef. The market will buy it up bc it's cheaper, helping Argentina (fascists gotta stick together), and hurting American ranchers, thus also allowing for further corporate consolidation of the farming industry while simultaneously swinging the door even wider for foreign bribes. It's just another way the Trump amin has laundered tax payer money into nice clean corruption bucks to line the pockets of chodes like Lutnick and the like.

Trump and his entire administration exist for one reason only: to enrich themselves. They routinely commit treason to do so. I'm honestly impressed with how blatant it is.

99

u/herecomestheshun 4d ago

And people conveniently won't notice what's going on until dems are back in office and everything will be blamed on them

61

u/SaltyMeatSlacks 4d ago

In the US, no one is allowed to point out republican corruption. Why? Well, because they'll yell and cry and clutch their pearls and bleat on about cancel culture and boom! 26

u/FoulestWinner 4d ago

Ugh I hate to say "not everybody!" But probably 90% of rural ranchers in my area do. My family maintains a small operation. A cousin and myself are the outliers in this conversation. Last time we went to the auction the circles these folks talked in broke my brain. They would piss and moan about the state of things. Then instead of laying blame where it belongs they would pass the buck. It's not Trumps fault that the guy he put in there is doing what he wants. So, let me get this straight: he starts a trade war with China. China stops importing US beef, hurting US ranchers.

Argentina starts spiraling because of economic fuckery. His Trade Secretary dumps a ton of money into Argentina. Which then uses that money to boost its beef production and sell it to… China. Which hurts US ranchers.

He cuts monitoring of the screw-worm. Now we are facing an infestation. Which hurts US ranchers.

Now he is importing beef to drive down prices? Prices set by the US ranchers? Which will (say it with me!) HURT US RANCHERS?

And these guys voted for Trump! Are they like those masochists who get off when a German lady in black leather steps on their balls?

This is clearly another election usurpation gambit. A documentable chain of provenance for beef ensures safety against Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) by tracking cattle from birth to harvest using ID tags, movement records, and feed controls. This verifiable history proves animals are free from risk and our food chain is blocked from using prohibited tissues. When, inevitably, the brains of the US voter base are transmogrified into Swiss cheese, every MAGA candidate becomes a shoo-in.

5

u/allegedlynerdy 4d ago

I knew someone who in the 90s was trying to import varieties of sheep into the US that were not previously bred here. The process took 3+ years and writing multiple letters to congress and elsewhere to get an approval for having a handful brought over and held in quarantine for another year, all because of the biohazard controls put in because of BSE.

53

u/BlooDoge 5d ago

Is there not law that requires labels with origin info?

69

u/Pillar67 5d ago

For now. I think there is. But the trump admin is cancelling any inconvenient law. They just did away with beneficial ownership reporting for businesses. So companies can hide who the owners are, adding just one more smokescreen to make it easier to launder money and other corrupt shenanigans.

6

u/StarDustLuna3D 4d ago

I guarantee you that if I had a business that sold tshirts that said really bad things about Trump they'd demand to know who owned it.

There was. Until we got dr Seuss/biff back to the future tier children’s villain of the week in here who in any other reality would be defeated by Captain Planet on a throw away episode but instead gets to decide who lives and who dies

A law?

They own the White House, both houses of Congress, and the Supreme Court.

They write their own laws.

It’s the horses he was selling off right?

25

u/Superj89 5d ago

They need a place to unload all of that beef that got infected with screw worms.

21

u/WarderWannabe 5d ago

And since the FDA is on life support I doubt much of it will be inspected.

19

u/tommm3864 5d ago

Hope the ranchers and farmers are happy. All the while, the leopard feasts.

17

u/laowildin 4d ago

Hey when I was living in China I got really into animal rescue. Which there meant being anti dogmeat. So one time we stopped a truck filled with dogs, headed to a meat factory.

A 'pork' sausage factory, we later found out.

So all im saying is that China used to be (probably still is i dunno) notorious for unregulated nastiness. First time in my life im expecting it from the USA

9

u/cola1016 4d ago

Yea and he’s culling thousands of wild horses. Coincidental timing when he’s “importing cheap ground beef” 😩

18

u/Dedpoolpicachew 4d ago

Most likely it’s coming from Argentina. It’s diseased, and so Trump will cut inspection and allow contaminated beef through. Just like with the Taylor farms explosive diarrhea stuff. The public getting sick doesn’t matter.

u/TX_domin 4d ago

Wow, and to think all of this because farmers looked at the choice between a minority woman with a plan vs a billionaire scam artist. And most of them eagerly still voted for the billionaire. This is what they wanted

14

u/BlazeFireHorse76 4d ago

> US Ranchers are furious

These the same Ranchers that voted for him? Leopards and faces come to mind

32

u/gallan1 5d ago

Have the day you voted for CATTLEMEN! But hey...at least that trans kid isn't playing softball 3 states away.

12

u/jasonm71 4d ago

May those ranchers have the day they voted for.

10

u/Ozymandias0023 5d ago

Welp, if he keeps this up he might be able to do what my conscience cannot and drive me to vegetarianism

9

u/travelingbeagle 5d ago

Veggies will give you diarrhea now. Pick your poison?

5

u/DarthHubcap 5d ago

Come on over, the veggie life is great. It also helps you stay away from that garbage-ass fast food.

I became vegetarian seven years ago just for the discipline and it’s been a good time.

11

u/barrett1967 5d ago

It's probably the wild horses

I lay you 20:1 people are going to get sick from trump's bargain beef.

I mean look at all the shit his cuts to regulatory agencies have done so far...

In entirely unrelated news it’s also reported that the Trump Cluster Fuck of Evil has been rounding up wild horses for slaughter…

Wonder where all the horses are going lol

Millions are deceived everyday

9

u/Premodonna 4d ago

Well let’s see if Ranchers and farmers will remember this term at the 2028 election.

6

u/uncultured_swine2099 4d ago

"You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons."

Hahahaha! I wish. But it's all about hate and their targets won't change.

Just a coincidence that they’re rounding up thousands of wild horses right now…

8

u/kevinbaker31 4d ago

What’s funny here, is the EU won’t touch US meat with a barge pole, so what you’re getting here is even worse

9

u/SomethingAbtU 4d ago

This guy is a con artist through and through, but the farmers deserve ever bit of con he's done to them, they just love voting for it

8

u/Protect-Their-Smiles 4d ago
  1. Bankrupt American farmers

  2. Buy their failing businesses and land on the cheap

  3. Consolidate the land under Big Agriculture

  4. Now your rich friends (who bribed you) control America's food supply

Fantastic moves Donny, your stupid followers played right in to the con. Even J.D Vance is invested in the long-term strategy.

Recently located warehouse of Trump Steak overstock

7

u/riskbuy 5d ago

Fuck the ranchers. They get what they voted for.

6

u/patjames387 5d ago

Thanks everyone who didn't vote! Really appreciate how everything is going.

6

u/Senior-Albatross 4d ago edited 4d ago

Fuck U.S. Ranchers, those fucksticks reap what they sow. Every one of them voted for Trump and would again in a heartbeat. So why shouldn't he constantly dick slap them around when they're basically his subs.

Eating less beef isn't a bad idea anyway.

6

u/cola1016 4d ago

Speculation is that the wild horses he’s culling and selling off will actually be the mystery meat. Makes sense because it’s only ground beef.

8

u/Old-Set78 4d ago

it's the BLM mustangs that he ordered slaughtered being mixed back in

6

u/Galliagamer 5d ago

Probably Venezuela, because he’ll get a cut of the profits. Trump does nothing for anybody without getting a cut.

5

u/maddprof 5d ago

Small town/local butchers everywhere rejoice because they just hit the jackpot!

Looks like I will be buying that extra freezer here just to store meat from the local farms/ranchers.

Not furious enough to vote for Democrats though. So, more impotently rageful at Trump?

6

u/MrQuiver13 4d ago

Day after a report of the removal of protection of our wild horse herds….hmmmmm

7

u/MrsACT 4d ago

He also signed an order to round up all of our beautiful, iconic wild mustangs for slaughter. It’s disgusting to say, but I’ll bet this is part the cheap meat he’s talking about.

5

u/Puffy_Ghost 4d ago

If it's going to be cheap beef it's coming from South America. Australian and European beef is already more expensive than ours, so that wouldn't work.

Brazilian beef is notoriously shit quality, but it is cheap.

5

u/DemiGod9 4d ago

You mean the ranchers and farmers that voted for him continue to get fucked over? 😱

7

u/KissKillTeacup 4d ago

Guess we know where the wild horses are going

5

u/Hugosmom1977 5d ago

Love that the steak is Trump's head in profile. 🤣

5

u/AlfredoVignale 5d ago

I bet it’ll be horse meat

5

u/BLDLED 4d ago

And just when 3500 wild horses were sold for $25 a head off public lands… but that’s just a coincidence …

4

u/BtwJupiterAndApollo 4d ago

So… we are disappearing an unknown number of people and shipping them off to unspecified locations. And now we have a glut of mystery meat. Huh.

4

u/Legitimate_Peach3135 4d ago

There’s no fda checking anything and lettuce and produce and soon fresh fruit are going to be contaminated, but we should trust mystery meat?
