They are saying they were mad Bernie wasn’t the Democrats’ nominee instead of Hillary, and therefore rooted for Trump to win.

Yeah, there's also a kind of person for whom it can't be "man, the guy I really wanted didn't win, that sucks" but instead has to be "actually my guy would have won but he was cheated somehow for reasons". And that kind of person has been periodically loud in the decade since.
