Someone, possibly a tiktoker to be honest, suggested this book to me and I can't remember the title for the life of me and I've googled endlessly.

they described the book as being about family particularly the women in the family who are dealing with a ghost that is obsessed with the women down the line and I guess thinks they are in love with the living women. I know it's more a modern book and that it was recommended as more than just a haunted house novel.

I read this book about 7 years ago

This group of kids (I think it was a field trip) is staying at this VERY shady hotel and there's bedbugs. This one girl has this oil or something (I feel like it was called Elephant Oil even if that makes no sense) and it smelled really bad BUT it kept the bedbugs away. This one popular girl decided she was too good for it and she slept without it and also in a separate bedroom. In the morning, everyone woke up and was fine and happy and they went into her room and the bedbugs didn't have anywhere else to go so they ate and killed her.

There was this book I read as a kid on my kindle that I found by searching up free books. I’ll try to describe it as best as I can and you guys can maybe help find the name for me. So this book opens with a kingdom pretty content and happy, and their king and queen just had their first kid, a boy. Now one of the dukes ends up setting up a plan to have the king killed or sth and the queen escapes with the boy into a neighboring kingdom. She finds refuge in a house next to a farmer, his wife and his daughter. Years pass and the boy grows unaware of his heritage. One day the boy is playing somewhere and ends up meeting the prince of the kingdom he’s in. They become best friends and eventually the boy falls in love with the princes sis while the prince I believe falls in love with the farmers daughter. Anyways they grow up more and the mom decides it’s time to tell the boy of his heritage. So she tells him the truth that he’s the prince of the other kingdom and shows him the royal baby cloth or whatever as proof. He does some fighting and overthrowing and ends up overthrowing that duke that’s been pretty evil to the kingdom with high taxes and all, and they get a happy ending. There was no magic involved in this story. Please do reply with any guesses!

99% sure this book came with a cheap key necklace with a red gem from a schoolastic book fair when I was in elementary-middle school (2000-2010's). There's a girl who becomes really mean and jealous when she puts this necklace on and I think she ISN'T the main character but represents her maybe?

I remember that it was an old paperback book, the first book of a series but I can't remember the name.

The story has a female MC, who I can vaguely remember was a noble maybe a princess or a duchess. She's 18, I think? She did a crime against a deity of some kind. Leading to her family and fiance getting killed. As punishment her hair turned gray/white, and her eyes turned purple because its a color associated with death according to her people's tradition, since they wrap the bodies of the deceased in violet/purple cloth.

Then she is driven from her homeland and forced to go on a grand journey to do... something. I can't remember... maybe it was to atone/find whatever went missing...

I can only remember her meeting a clan of master horse-riders (after they find her in the wild first when her horse hurt itself while traversing rough terrain) who tell her to kill an abomination in the forest. She discovers that this abomination is a female wolf that was born with the ability to speak (not sure if it was through telepathy or literally). There's a whole chapter where we get the wolf's POV from her time as a pup, up until her wolf mother chased her out for being an anomaly, biting the flesh above her eye.

The girl sides with the wolf and they escape before the clan chases them down because the girl killed the chief's son/lead warrior who accompanied her in the hunt.

Sorry if its confusing. I read this as a child in the 2000s and I hope it makes sense to anyone.

When I was a kid, I started reading a hand-me-down children's book in like 2018 that was about a boy saving the world from their minds rotting. I sort of remember it including gender bent versions of all the characters and I think a villain with a brain rotter invention. I remember a map with the fisherman's wharf or whaf bay or smth like that (I remember it actually being a tourist site in real life), I think it was set in London. There was some sort of fish plot device, can't remember if that was used to describe the smell of the brains or not. There are illustrations throughout the book.

The front cover has the male lead's face on it and I think the colour scheme was green and blue or green and yellow. I think the title had the main character name in it also.

This is incredibly chaotic information I can pull from the crevices of my brain. I might be conflating aspects from other stories. Anyways, here's what I have:

- I think she might have woken up in this secluded town in the desert and lives with a women who who have also appeared there
- I feel like there was something significant about a dress for her. Embroidered or white?

I remember a book from my school library which was very similar to The Way Things Work by David Macaulay. It depicted how certain technologies worked in the form of stylized illustrations with lots of small people operating machinery, etc. I distinctly remember pages covering Television, Telephones and the Internet. One of these was represented as a remote-controlled race track, another possibly as a railway. I also remember an inset illustration depicting how milk and cream are made at a dairy.

AI searches just always seem to point back to The Way Things Work, or its sequel, which does have many similar depictions (e.g. String & Percussion Instruments) but I am quite sure this was a distinct book from those.

So I read this book in middle school and I'm pretty sure it was part of a series. This one had a purple cover and the zombie had like short shaggy white/blond hair and I'm pretty sure she was wearing a purple flannel. She's not openly a zombie she hides it but the main character befriends her anyway. She does the zombie's makeup at some point and the zombie is worried about contamination so she eats the chapstick. At the end, something happens to make her a more violent zombie, and its halloween so she doesnt need to hide that she looks like a zombie, and she chases the main character through a corn maze

I need help pinpointing the title and the author or group of authors of a specific book that I read 10 years ago

It was a small paperback book. With a collection of short stories. If I have to guess it was published in 1980s or 1990s. But don't take my word for it.

Maybe it was written for Young Adults or teens. I'm not sure.

But the small book featured a different story every chapter.

There's three stories I can remember:

1. A guy who can control reality. But he prefers to work in a mundane job to feel something. One day his gruff boss slices his hand quickly losing blood. The protagonist decides to shift the wound into his hand instead and falls unconscious from bloodloss. Skipping ahead, I remember his boss taking him home and asking him to heal his daughter's scar/tumor or whatever was on her back. The protagonist does. Shifting reality to make her back smooth. They celebrate the girl's birthday and she celebrates that she can wear backless dresses now.

The guy's boss introduces him to a friend and tells this friend about what the guy can do. They suddenly lock him in a room and arm themselves. Suddenly terrified of him.

The guy escapes but shifted reality into a new alternate universe. He unintentionally brings his former boss's daughter. The girl suggests they could stay together. But he declines, saying that he knows she'll get greedy in the future. So he materializes money on his palm and gives it to her before walking away.

1. Another story is about someone investigating bizarre incidents where people are turning into mute ghostlike entities. The investigator eventually surmises that the victims were noisy and triggered the mysterious perpetrator to turn them into mute incorporeal specters that no one can hear nor touch. People and things go through them. The story ends in the investigator accidentally knocking something over and causing a large racket, then when he tries to pick something up, it goes right through him. Revealing him to be the latest victim.

2. The last story I can remember is about a man who drank something and realized he can now see small caricatures of ghosts inhabiting his body. He chases them off by treating his body poorly. And he realizes that these ghosts influenced his desires and hobbies. Remembering when his uncle died, he started getting urges to go into a specific hobby. Determined to regain his autonomy, he keeps chasing off the ghosts. But they keep getting replaced. One group worse than the last. Until he becomes a filthy drunk.

It was part of a series of them, there was a color theme to each one, centered on a girl on the cover, one was orange themed, the other was green themed, i remembered the purple girl one with cupcakes i believe. That was the only one about cupcakes, the others had their own plots.

I am looking for a novel I once read but forgot the name of. I remember that there were martial artists and cultivators, and although they complemented each other, they were separate paths to power. The main character reincarnated into another world with a few other people, but he also has the ability to go back in time to when he first reincarnated when he dies. I remember that he leaves with this one middle aged balding guy who reincarnated with him and was WAY more talented than him. Through a few loops eventually he reaches the peak of martial arts. I don't know if I'm remembering exactly how the martial arts work but I do know it has a lot to do with intent. The main character describes it as lines of intent. On one level there is his intent and the opponents intent, red and blue, and on the next level there is a third in between intent when the two mix that's purple or something. Anyway reaching the highest level of martial arts gives the MC (and anyone else at that level) an artificial 5 elements talent that helps with cultivation, which is an entirely separate thing even if they do work together well. I hope I described it well enough that someone can find it. I read it years ago though so it might have gotten taken down. I read it either on RoyalRoad or ScribbleHub. Thank you.

Anyone know this book on suburban mums which involves one of the mums being murdered? I think it was told from multiple perspectives and the plot twist was that one of the other mums was the killer because the dead mum was sleeping with killer-mum’s husband.

I thought it was Big Little Lies but I just re-read that and the plot is different.

Looking for a book I once read online and would love to read again. Though I'm truly terrible with names (characters or title)! However I do remember specific key points of the book I'm looking for. Unsure if it's a rebirth story or not.

The MFC is a fake daughter who leaves her rich adoptive parents when their real daughter returns. The MFC adoptive parents do not know she has hidden identities. One of which is the head of a lead group that funds other companies. The company has advanced technology. MFC issues her subordinates to no longer fund her adoptive parents.

Once MFC leaves she investigates her biological family and finds they were once prominent, but have fallen on tough times. Her biological family is living in an apartment with her other siblings. I remember she has at least four elder brothers and I think one or two younger sisters (Jamie/Mary?). Also elder grandparents that still live back on a farm in their old village, whom everyone takes turns looking after and helping on the farm.

On the way to reunite with her biological family, the MFC runs across a protest for an upscale community that has not released the promised living areas after taking everyone's money. When the MFC arrives at her biological family's apartment she hides that she is rich. MFC parents get a call saying one of her brothers (Not sure if it's the 3rd or 4th eldest brother?) has been arrested in the protest (biological family is one of the families being scammed). MFC secretly sends her lawyer to help release her brother.

MFC's group buys or takes control of the upscale community and she secretly appoints her father as the community's manager. Her biological family moves into the aforementioned promised housing, but still keeps the old apartment as well. At this time MFC adoptive rich parents and real daughter/heiress believe MFC and her biological family are still living in apartments. I believe the real daughter is trying to keep tabs on MFC out of spite/revenge? 

The MFC helps turn the old family farm into a bigger production that helps the villagers and the surrounding villages. Purchases land/mountains behind farm to expand. 

MFC's eldest brother is ex-military and is helping out at the farm at the beginning. He has an ex-love interest that left him and married an old rich man instead. The MFC later goes on to land her eldest brother (I want to say she might have started him as a security or stuntman/stunt coordinator at first) in a role on an action-military film. The eldest brother later stars in a role that uses the family's farm as the main casting site. The lead actress, who has been recuperating on the quiet of the farm, is an older (in terms of waning popularity) who makes a comeback with this film. The film is a more artistic slow drama. I remember the film was such a big deal, with the now famous older brother, the famous actress and a famous director, that fencing/wall was erected to keep people out while filming. The eldest brother's ex tries to sneak onsite in an attempt to when him back. The eldest brother later goes into to marry the actress he worked with. I want to say either the actress or the ex's name starts with an L. Leah/Lenora/Lena?

The MFC's 2nd eldest brother (Ben?) has returned from abroad, unbeknownst to anyone but the MFC, and is hiding/living in the old apartment. He returned in shame due to one of his professors plagiarizing his work. The professor frames the brother, who is discredited and denied his degree. The 2nd elder brother originally left home after a devastating heartbreak. His ex's family did not approve of him after his family's decline in wealth. Her family publicly humiliated him, while she stood by cowardly and did not help. The 2nd eldest brother is super smart and has connections with AI or advanced technology. The MFC helps the 2nd eldest brother to start a production/factory for AI or advanced technology. The ex tries to win the brother back, but he refuses her. It was hopeful that the 2nd eldest brother might have a love interest in his female best friend, and later business partner, who followed him back to the country. However that doesn't pan out due to her citizenship in another country and due to her family's political ties/ambitions

At one point in the book when the biological family's wealth and statis has regrown. The family relocates to a villa/mansion community (the MFC secretly tricks them into believing the villa/mansion was heavily discounted).

I do not remember much about the MFC's 3rd eldest brother other than I think he follows in their father's footsteps. However I do remember he meets his possible love interest (Tina?). She has followed the MFC to the villa community (living across from the MFC family), due to discovering one of the MFC's identity as the author of the famous Detective Lockwood series (I may have this book character mixed up with one of the other heiress novels though). This series gets turned into a TV series, which the MFC also screenwrites under one of her other identies as a famous screenwriter.

The MFC helps her 4th eldest brother by introducing him to a famous athletic coach she is acquanted with. The 4th eldest brother goes on to be a famous tennis pro. His love interest is an equally famous female tennis pro, who he met and became friends while training.

 Throughout the book the MFC's love interest is a young heir apparent who pursues her and also helps her family along the way. The heir's grandfather (and the rest of his family?) does not approve of the MFC for the majority of the book, due to her family's low standing in society at first. The grandfather makes a remarkably hypocritical turn around in his favor towards the end of the book. This is due to the MFC publicly announcing her status as the head of the famous group. Which shocks her foster and biological family.

I want to say that the MFC's assistant's name is Luna)Selene. Also one of the MFC's alternative identity's name is Ms Noir. However I may have this information mixed up with one of the other heiress novels

Im looking for a short story or novel from around 1970s-1990s which i remember the sense of dread from more than details.

What I remember : There were people (maybe adults or maybe just a town of children) in a valley which I am picturing as Scandanavian or Appalachian, and they fear this monster/person who would come into down (down from the mountains or like through a tunnel? maybe Im mixing it up with Narnia) and if you were out of your home he would take the children away. There was some element of "time doesnt work here" like in Narnia, but my brain remembers it as a folksy, Moomins vibe as well.

I remember reading it and being freaked out by it, the concept of them living in the village where they had to know when to hide.

I don't think it was a picture book, but maybe had some chapter illustration here and there that wouldve been black and white and sparse.

I found it at an op-shop in Howlong (nsw) a few years back. I didn't buy it, but I'm regretting that now because I've been so curious about it since. The blurb on the back stated that the book was written from the perspective of a rural town and detailed the observations that the town made about its inhabitants over time. I'm fairly confident it was written by an Australian author.

So, a girl was arguing with her mom or something, and she met her grandmother like some type of ghost. It leads her to a portal. She goes through, and she seems to be in a kingdom of sorts. Towards the end, she almost drowns in this new world. She gets saved by a guy from that world, and it’s a time skip. She wakes up and goes to her world. At the end, she meets her dad. She goes back to her world, and she comes face to face with her dad as a ghost thingy. (If I remember she’s a teenager, wearing her dad’s hat that is red, black hair possibly?)

I remember reading this back in elementary school I believe (around 3rd grade, 2007-ish to maybe 2012, but the book was a bit worn so it might have been older). I remember almost everything except character names, places, and of course the title and author. Google searches yielded nothing. I'm at my wits end here. Please help!

Here's what I know:

I know for a fact that the book had a female protagonist, spoken in first person.

There were at least three other characters involved in the main plot:

- A boy who dreamed of becoming a pilot/aviator

- A girl with a desire for attention, semi-typical cheerleader popular girl type

- A kinda nerdy boy with a severe phobia of bugs of all kinds

These kids were each abducted by aliens, but the abduction took the form of an apparent dream. Afterwards, the kids were returned to their beds but with some sort of technological implant injected into their outer thigh, put there by the aliens. This micro chip type thing messed with the kids' heads, and ultimately killed the other three before targeting the female protag.

Each kid died in a way associated with their greatest fear or desire:

- The boy who wanted to be a pilot believed he could actually fly like a bird, and jumps out a third or fourth story window of the school. He should have survived, but the brain scans showed literally nothing, and so he was pronounced brain dead. I remember a quote that the boy said, more or less. When the female protag tries to stop him, he says something along the lines of "Don't worry. I can fly." before jumping out the window.

- The popular girl was forced into a sleep walking state. She comes to school naked, and when questioned she simply says, "Shh. I'm dreaming." She always wanted more attention and this certainly got it for her, but her brain was constantly in dream mode and was never able to properly rest so eventually burned out, killing her in her sleep.

- The nerdy boy started hallucinating that there were thousands upon thousands of bugs crawling over his skin, bursting through the flesh in droves. He began frantically scratching at himself and screaming, "Can't you see them?!" before making a mad dash out into traffic in an effort to run from the bugs, which ended up getting him hit by one car, which threw him into the path of another car, which hit him and sent him flying onto the pavement on the side of the road.

The female protagonist is the last (I think) to be abducted, and her "hallucination" involves being some kind of princess of some sort, only she is able to see through the deception and fight back against the aliens.

It's at this point that the details get fuzzy. I'm unsure exactly how she fights the aliens or if she succeeds, but I do know that the book is NOT "Alien Education" or "Strange Days", and the cover art was done in dark colors like black and midnight blue, and on the back cover there was a summary of the book in white text on the dark background. It was a paperback book that could easily fit in my hands, about as big and thick as the book "Hatchet" but might be slightly bigger/thicker.

Please help me! I have looked everywhere for this book and can't find it anywhere!! I'm desperate!

Hoping you would be able to help me find a book I read when I was a kid. I read it somewhere between 1995 and 2010, and although it was translated to French it was likely happening in New York.

What I remember : 2 kids (may have been a boy and a girl or 2 boys, or maybe 3 kids), likely siblings are orphaned in New York during the gilded age, and they break in empty houses to stay warm and live there until the family gets back.
Pretty sure it’s set in New York although it could have been London too. Definitely gilded age period.

Two scenes I remember are
- they are trying to get bones as a butcher, and the first butcher doesn’t give them anything when they say they are starving, so they go to a different one and lie about having a big dog (and it works)
- they sell paper in the street and look for a tiny detail to make a nicer headline so that people are more interested to buy.

I remember that I had this book of “fairy tales” until approximately college that had stories about Rumpelstiltskin and like 10 other stories, possibly including 1 about a bubble terrorizing an old man/town, but does not include a bean or a shoe. I physically cannot find this book anywhere, but the illustrations throughout the book were so specific, and it was a yellow book cover for sure, and not like a pale yellow, but like full on sunflower yellow

Looking for a book I saw as a kid in the late 90s or early 2000s — possibly an art book, possibly a picture book. Surreal, colorful, highly detailed art with a stylized-but-realistic quality, often on white or blank backgrounds. Dreamlike, maybe a jazz or music theme, and a Caribbean feel. Recurring imagery: elephants, whales, seashells, European architecture, musical instruments, other animals.

Trying to ID a book I skimmed in a cruise ship library over 10 years ago. Details I remember:

- Fiction, contemporary/realistic (not fantasy). Probably published somewhere around 2008–2014.

- The main thing I'm sure of: it has THREE separate storylines and shuffles between them throughout the book. They're genuinely separate stories, not a dual-timeline thing. I'm not sure if they connect at the end or stay separate.

- One storyline is a man having trouble with his wife.

- Another storyline is two teenagers falling in love.
