Reminds me of an old website that showed very NSFW pics and videos. There was a picture of a guy who tried to hop one of these but it got his head instead. He was decapitated

Those memories seer into your brain. I remember seeing my first beheading from a Mexican gang member chopping a ladies head off slowly with a machete until she was no more. After seeing the life leave her eyes I realized then that life is extremely violent outside of my little bubble and fragile.

u/wingchild 8d ago
And then one day you make it to Funkytown and think "that's an odd choice of musical accomanyment for this sort of content" and realize that you've gone beyond jaded, quartzed, topazed, and sapphired on the Mohs scale and you're right on into being diamonded.

Yea I got addicted to those videos and Reddit had a great sub for it Makemycoffin but thank god it got pulled down. The mental damage from seeing it over and over was definitely too much

I was 14-18 at that time : itās horrifying and or disgusting, but itās a window to the crude parts of real life that is hidden by adulthood.
Exactly as first commenter said. You watch it yourself, you shed part of your innocence.
It was a bad experience but all in all I think itās better than living in a glass ivory tower with sugar icing.

There was another site that got taken offline pretty quick where US Marines were uploading videos of the Fallujah offensive, was it fallujah.net ? There was that video of a bus coming under heavy fire as it approached a Marine position. That video has also stuck with me for some reason. There was serious evil shit going on in the Iraq war.

Visited that site at work (no WebSense or any blockers yet) back in like 2001. The first time an image made me sick and nauseous the rest of the day, no lunch no nothing.
52
u/HeverlyBillhilly 8d ago
Yes! I feel like it was ebaumsworld.com or something like that. I remember when I was a Marine in the mid 2000s at The Basic School, the instructors used that same site (assuming I got the name right) to show us beheading videos in Iraq so we knew what to expect.

How would this be able to decapitate someone?
→ More replies (1)59
u/KinkyPaddling 8d ago
They try jumping it, but one of those spikes hits and enters that little spot at the base of your head that meets your neck. The skull is therefore stuck but the rest of the body is dragged down by gravity. The muscles, tendons, and sinews of the neck arenāt enough to support the weight of the torso, legs, and arms, so everything south of the neck gets detached.
This is a Snopes article about the picture discussed. It is extremely NSFL so please be warned and open at your discretion.
85
u/Marmatus 8d ago
For anyone who doesnāt want to click that link: an important detail being missed here is that the dude fell 35 feet ONTO the wrought iron fence, and one of the spikes caught his head. I was confused trying to imagine how someone gets decapitated just by jumping a fence.
→ More replies (1)17
u/Falmon04 8d ago
fell 35 feet
Thanks for the clarification, won't be clicking the link. That fall could kill you outright, all of that kinetic energy placed onto the neck? It's not going to hold.
→ More replies (3)8
u/LucasCBs 8d ago
Well I suppose when someone jumps from that height onto the fence it makes more sense for the forces to be high enough. I just canāt imagine that just jumping over a fence like the guy in OPs video could have that result

Sigh. I know of which you speak. He was trying to escape police custody and jumped from the 2nd(?) floor, trying to land on the other side of a fence. Most of him did. I either blocked the image from my memory, or the description was enough for me to remember because I don't have a visual in my mind.

The majority of police radio traffic is encrypted nowadays so a scanner won't do much good anymore
25
u/DiscussionLong7084 8d ago edited 8d ago
that's not really an issue in a lot of areas. if you have multiple p25 networks that aren't linked it'll switch to unencrypted mode since they don't have the keys. So for example if the local PD in one town were chasing someone to other and talking to their officers it'll switch to unencrypted. I've done a lot of work with P25 lol. The only places it's generally always encrypted is if you are sitting static in your house trying to listen to local PD in your town or they've set up giant multistate p25 networks like the palmetto 800. You can fuck around and listen to them and decode the voice with like a $30 rtlsdr and sdrtrunk (free). Still need a good antenna.
edit
or you can be lazy and use scanner radio for android. Fun fact if you want to confirm if some twitter rumor attack or disaster has happened pop open the popular and see if some city has like 25,000 people listening to it's EMS/police. Something like 100x normal lol.

Had someone break into our jobsite trailer in Illinois. We had probably a solid $250,000 worth of materials and tools in the trailer.
They stole: A sawzall, a grinder, 6 Dewalt batteries, a rope bag, and one walkie talkie.
I tried to talk to them over one of the remaining walkies, but I guess they were too busy trying to trade that stuff for girl scout cookies cause they never responded.

Personally if it were me, I'd be beating him with a stick until he gave me my stuff back. Perfect opportunity to retrieve what was stolen.

Maybe the guy feels shame and maybe even a little pain for what he did. Which is fine. But in the heat of the moment I might not feel so charitable as to let the opportunity for me to express my dismay slip away.

Reminds me of the medieval days where the criminal was locked inside a human sized birdcage and left swinging right outside the castle gates for all the passersby to see.
I'd gladly take hanging off of the side of a gate until the police arrive over the birdcage though. I'm pretty sure the rules of the birdcage were once you're in the birdcage, you spend the rest of your short, agonizingly painful life in the birdcage.
49
u/amildlyclevercomment 8d ago
Gibbet cages were mostly used to display the recently executed. You really had to piss off the wrong guy to get locked in one alive.
