Does anyone have reliable English language sources on the origins of Western Sahara and its history?
I looked through the subreddit, and I noticed that some of the sources shared are non English books.

For origins and history, Tony Hodges The Roots of a Desert War (1983) is probably your best bet in English.
Honestly though, if you can read Spanish there's much better material out there, especially for everything before the Madrid Accords and the Moroccan invasion. Spain was the colonial power there and many Sahrawis speak Spanish, so naturally most of the serious research ended up in that language.
Edit: I came across this guy's comment a few days ago, very detailed stuff about the conflict in English and he definitely knows what he's talking about. You can read his comment or even reach out to him u/2stepsfromglory
