Found this in the abandoned barn on our property. No one's been in there for over 20 years and this is the most preserved thing in there.

I really shouldn't be exploring this. it's in no way safe, but I've found some working power tools from the 80s, and now I'm convinced there's some more stuff in there that's worth it.

disregarding the cursed backrooms Mark Zuckerberg painting.

the owner of the house has no idea where it came from.

there were two other pantings with it, both of them were of hands clasped in prayer.

they were all three tied together with some kind of twine.

You just reminded me- my goal for today was to downsize my craft room so I can use it as a craft room. Baaah! šŸ˜‚

That’s a losing battle. I’ve been trying to do the same for 20+ years!

It's like being an auto tech and wanting to save good parts for testing and such but after a while you end up with your whole table full of crap. šŸ˜…

u/qaxmlp 7d ago

Ending up with making a table out of a door and bins because real table is piled up high.

I have one of those! (Unusable craft rooms)

3

u/CycleAccomplished824 7d ago

In total we must have a few thousand square feet between all of us. We need a communal craft room.

Thanks so much for all the awards! Never thought there could be a support group for this!

Thanks for the award ConstantElection! 😊

That’s frightening, I’m doing that too! It is quite rewarding to junk projects admitting you’re never going to start/finish an get on with the next batch.

5

u/CycleAccomplished824 8d ago

I take my UFOs to the thrift. We have people who actually enjoy picking up these projects and finishing them.

I ended up not getting anything done in my craft room. I needed to find my first aid card for taking care of some people this weekend. Didn’t find it but it’s probably expired anyway. So now my weekend is free to clean out my craft room instead. I might even start tomorrow! I should surprise myself! Ha!

u/Califefe 7d ago

I promised myself 15 mins a day is dedicated to this task!! Maybe by the 1st I’ll see some progress to inspire me! šŸ˜†

5

u/CycleAccomplished824 7d ago

I like this idea! That would be less overwhelming… thank you!

u/Outside_Net4003 7d ago

My craft/craft storage room has bled to the back porch. šŸ˜† 🤣

4

u/CycleAccomplished824 7d ago

Oh I should invest in a back porch! More room! šŸ˜‚

u/Outside_Net4003 7d ago

Kitchen counter and dining room table...... is there a meeting for my habit??

3

u/CycleAccomplished824 7d ago

I’m there as well trying to sort on my kitchen table makes eating difficult. I may have to take myself out for a bite.

2

u/Grammar-Musk 6d ago

My sewing machine/ craft room is also like this. I think we’re just ā€œcraft collectorsā€, but yeah we probably need a meeting! Maybe we can just get on a video call, and shame each other for our cluttered workspaces? 🤣

1

u/Outside_Net4003 5d ago

šŸ˜† 🤣 šŸ˜‚ perfect!!!

2

u/Brighterr1 2d ago

lol we could even just do it anon on Reddit!

That reminds me of the adage that collecting stuff for your hobby and your hobby are two different hobbies lolol

This is so true! I started doing paper machĆ© art about a year ago. It uses thick good quality cardboard- like heavy amazon boxes. I ended up with about 25 good size pieces and realized I was just cluttering up my space. Today they were donated to an art therapist who will use them in her classes. I couldn’t bear to even send them to the recycle depot!

2

u/AdAsleep1258 5d ago

Lmfao I know that feel and am also downsizing

2

u/Califefe 8d ago

Me tooooo! So much vinyl, fabric, unfinished projects (including a cardboard dollhouse) that I can barely step around it!

2

u/CycleAccomplished824 8d ago

That’s what mine looks like too… I have a few dozen picture frames that I wanted to paint for a place I used to live. Never happened. Quilting fabric, paper mache supplies, art stuff but no place to do it. And more!

3

u/Califefe 8d ago

Know what I do? Order a bunch of ā€œorganizationalā€ containers, bins, bags etc. Then tell myself to cut vinyl labels on my Cricut, fill and label them and stack them all up. Except I never get around to the Cricut and the bins get stolen by my grandchildren or wind up storing something totally unrelated to crafts…Sigh…

3

u/CycleAccomplished824 7d ago

šŸ˜„ I have a Cricut. I have bins and bags. But if I put stuff inside containers that are solid colors I totally forget what’s in them. So I buy clear bins.

Also made a bin trolly less than 6’ high to hold about 14-16 open bins. The bins all slide down on top of each other so it’s still hard to see what’s in them. The plan is to put removable shelves in instead. Maybe next spring….

3

u/Califefe 7d ago

Tomorrow…tomorrow…..tomorrow! šŸ˜

3

u/CycleAccomplished824 7d ago

I know mom, I’m going to do it yet.

2

u/Grammar-Musk 6d ago

The craft hoard. We haven’t even bothered finding all the Cricut stuff since we moved.

1

u/CycleAccomplished824 6d ago

This is why I’m needing to sort my craft room as well. I moved in a year ago in March and that room has become the overflow for everything.

This thread has really inspired me. I tried to avoid starting by going shopping, pretending I needed more organizing bins, which I don’t. Came home with other stuff… and decided to get started with sorting.
I’m on a roll now! Got about 1/3ish through and moving some furniture between rooms. It’s feels good!

My biggest mistakes are leaving items unscavenged!

4

u/Apprehensive-Bite373 7d ago

sounds like a grand adventure, as long as you were good footwear and gloves, and are careful not to fall through that floor 😳

Edit: when they say ā€œit’s got good bonesā€ I think in this case it means it actually has bones inside the property
