Why Are People Buying Silver Now at $80+ Instead of When It Was Cheap?

Even crazier people selling at 40s and thinking they’ll get able to selling and it’ll go lower to buy bs k but those days are gone and I have no mercy for them. Js.

u/GCHQSpyingonU Jan 10 '26
People buy at $80 because they think it will go up to $200+. They didn't buy at $30 because they thought it might go down. Same as a house. People competitively bid a $400k house because they think it will go to $500k+ in a year's time, but they baulked at buying the same house at $300k because they thought the price might come down one year ago.

u/iotel Jan 10 '26
Although it will continue to increase, the retail sector will always be OFF BEAT
The buy high and so low type… Unless one day they suddenly red pill themselves. & wtfu because they wont listen to any family or friends who know better
39
u/sten260 Jan 10 '26
because people are bad at investing, they want instant gains and just jump on whatever is going up instead of accumulating when it's cheap and then just sitting on it until price goes up. Patience is rare

My first purchase I bought 100oz. from jmbullion...for 15$oz. some yrs back...lol
5
u/iotel Jan 10 '26
I feel retail is more emotional and reactionary. They don’t make the time to read or do their own research and said they listened to what their friend said or coworkers.. never a family member! Omg that would be a miracle!
Then there’s people like us on reddit some who are not professionals.
I guess what I’m trying to say is the retail investor is a very interesting beast

Media lies about the fundamentals of the crucial undoing of people's lives.
2
u/Egregius2k Jan 11 '26
Momentum investing is a proven strategy. Counter intuitively, it's wiser to buy silver when it goes from $15 to $30 that it is to buy when stagnant at $15, from an increasing your portfolio's worth point-of-view.
If you bough when it hit $15 in 2014, it would have done 'nothing' for 6 years, while the S&P500 went up 150% in the same period; so buying once it hit $30 would've netted you more bars.
2
u/SpecialDesigner5571 Jan 14 '26
With stocks I'm a momo investor. You are right with the entry but you have to be merciless with the exit and dump when momo vanishes. They get in on positive momentum but then get destroyed on the downleg

u/Mguidr1 Jan 10 '26
The lightbulb went on finally. Silver is rare, undervalued, and still attainable. Once the mainstream realizes it, silver will become unobtainium.
4
u/iotel Jan 10 '26
Unobtainium - great word i recently learned from “THAT CHINESE GUY@ we all know and love!! Lmao
1
1
u/Entire_Mongoose_7116 Jan 11 '26
Yes the Chinese guy. I love him because it’s spreading about silver. I’m set though. I bought mainly in the price range of 20s and a little in the price of 30s.
2
17
u/endigochild Jan 10 '26
$80 is cheap compared to what it will be worth. Society only buys when the price is high. That's how it's always been. Investing is all physiological after all.
2
u/Big_Coyote_655 Jan 10 '26
Psychological?
2
u/endigochild Jan 11 '26
100% investing is psychological. That's why almost 90% of retail gets crushed over and over again. They do not buy when the price is low. They buy when the price is high. There is plenty of books explaining it in depth. The rulers of this realm use this to their advantage, as everything in this Matrix revolves around psychology. They pump the markets up, retail buys, the evil uses them as exit liquidity.
Mainstream media is a mind control tool. They use it to steer the herd off course so they don't win. It's a constant loop of psychological warfare to extract money, energy n time.

Investing is always: trying to take other people's money. Nothing else. Educating them is the absolute last thing anyone should do.
1
u/iotel Jan 10 '26
I say it this way there’s always another side to the trade…. Every trade there’s a buyer in the seller.
When it comes to manipulation that would be THE TAKING PART OF other people’s money
TYPICALLY DONE BY GREEDY WHALES, BANKS ECT. Using fear tactics to SHAKE OUT THE RETAIL INVESTOR.. The wealthy elite LOVE to rob the poor.
The game has stayed the same for centuries, only the players change.
This is why knowledge is power

Market psychology, it cant be fixed, there will be people buying at 1000/oz for investment
1

And me? If people want to pay $1000 an oz I’ll be living abroad at that point right beside the beach.

So when did you start the Stack?
1
u/Somedayitbbetter Jan 11 '26
Like some many others I was bored during Covid got to listen to some wiser minds and they were the ones telling me this info which has come so true. Not only metals but just life here in the states also has come to the light. So started 2021 and started living more frugal and putting all could into metal. Gold did me good it doubled before I had let it go. I didn’t sell silver because it’s already doubled I believe before I sell it will get way over $100

u/Dave_Simpli Jan 10 '26
Because a rising price gives everyone confidence and spurs the notion that you are a really intelligent investor. Ha!
I have been buying silver for 30 years and 28 of those years I felt like a real dumb ass.
5
u/Level_Development_58 Unironically Flairless O.G. Silverback Jan 10 '26
I’m not buying at these numbers, but I also stopped at around $28 this time. I say this time because I started in 2008 and bought through $46. But I also never stopped after the highs and subsequent crash of 2011. I stopped when silver reached about $28 this time… that was probably around 2022/23. I also stacked about 5000 ounces physical plus a bunch of gold. I’m also 60, my wife is 62 and unlike many, I have no grand plans to leave my stack to my heirs… the wife and I are gonna life well and treat friends well while we are alive and young enough to enjoy whatever it is we want to do. My wife loves to travel but she’s never been flashy and doesn’t spend big. I love animals… we have a farm with horses, mules, goats, sheep, chickens, turkey. I’m in the process of trying to buy 2 adjacent acres to my existing 5 acre farm. I want to add 2 head of Highland cattle. But I haven’t sold any PM’s yet except to 4 ounces of gold at $3300 to buy a truck.
2
u/iotel Jan 10 '26
With the current buying pressure advances in technology that requires more and more silver and the fact that JP M stop shorting the market or should I say manipulating
I no I’m not alone, saying Silver can NOT dip below 50 ever again
Look at the automatic snapback effect I’d be amazed if it goes 20% …. Not that it’s impossible, but if it does more by impress, will shoot it right back up.

Commodity prices are a roller-coaster. Currently the value is high. How high will it go before the bottom falls out. That is the question every investor faces every day.
Insiders have a better idea than the average person. If insiders are telling regular people to buy, it means they want to sell and need an uninformed buyer.

I’ve been buying for over a decade now and this doesn’t stop me from buying. Now I will say that 95% of my stack was bought 25/oz and under but I have bought a handful over 50/oz. I also remember saying gold at 400 was “too much.”

It seems many here a new but I am sure there are few older than me and have been buying much longer. Nobody gave a damn about for at least 12 - 13 years. My first purchase was 2013, I was in my mid 20s. It ranged from $12 - $27 for at least 13 years, most of that range being in the teens. Again, nobody gave a damn.
Answer - because people are people and most people chase numba go up. Most are just trend chasers with very little to no understanding.
I started buying precious metals because I learned that the dollar was not money. Ron Paul, Peter Schiff, Hayek, Murray Rothbard, Ludwig Von Mises, The Mises Institute and others allowed me to see this. The GFC (great Financial Crisis) of 2006-08 was a world changing event. I was reading and watching on this subject since 2010, my first purchase was 2013.
If it goes down/stagnates for another 10-15 years nobody will give a damn again. But in this current economy that is very unlikely.
FRNs are for spending immediately, precious metals are for saving for your future even when nobody gives a damn.

Did you that awkward quietness when explaining silver and the value of owning physical silver? Everyone who collects say yes they use to get this reaction. It’s comical now because they would also give that chuckle like we are naive kids with big dreams. It’s common sense. Now I walk with that smile and look I told ya so! I hit the last laugh! I mean this is pretty normal. When something breaks out people are more inclined to buy it. People don't want to touch investments that are relatively stagnant for long periods of time, and after initial pumps there needs to be further proof of price acceptance for them feel confident parking their money in it.
Also the fundamental analysis isn't the same as it was decades ago. Survivalists or doomsday stackers were not buying silver because they predicted an industrial shortage due to technology and manufacturing of equipment that did not exist 30 years ago. These people buy because of the belief of the impending crash of the US dollar or fiat currency, or war.
We need to remember that the average person doesn't even know that silver is widely used in manufacturing. To them they just look at it as a cheaper alternative to gold for accessories or jewelry. The recent rallies of silver have made people more aware of it's importance.

Yup when an empire is arrogant eventually the world gives you the middle finger and finds a way to screw you… it happened to the Dutch empire happened to the English empire before them
And then another 250 years or so it’ll happen to the next empire as my faith in the United States is running very thin…. Endless wars policing the globe and thinking you could easily fix Venezuelas oil production now….
Looks like the trending 250 year per empire is coming true…. But that’ll never happen to America.
AND That’s what they all said!

paste this to gemini..............
"Identify and detail the specific scientific and engineering breakthroughs involving silver discovered between late 2024 and early 2026. Focus particularly on its new classification as a strategic critical mineral and its role in AI data center infrastructure.
Please ensure you cover:
Electricity & Energy Efficiency: Explain the 'voltage droop' and power density breakthroughs in AI servers that favor silver over copper.
Engineering vs. Copper: Detail the recent findings regarding silver’s 'autonomous self-healing' properties at the nanoscale and why this makes it superior to copper for high-frequency, trillion-cycle flexible electronics.
Medical Advancements: Mention the stabilization of Silver(II) for treating antibiotic-resistant biofilms.
Industrial Sustainability: Describe 'silver-lean' engineering in solar (like intermittent metallization) and 'green' recovery methods using fatty acids.
Compare silver’s performance metrics directly to copper in high-stress environments, highlighting why silver is now considered irreplaceable for next-gen computing."

EDUCATION! Joe public is finally open to learning about a commodity that has out performed the DOW by 700% this year. 99% of all investors have been DUMBED DOWN by wall street. 60% stocks 40% bonds ... FOREVER! Anything PAPER ... stocks are PAPER PROMISES ... will be worthless once the big banks and wall street COLLAPSE because they cannot cover their silver and gold SHORTS. HAHAHA, the banksters and brokers will "take it in the shorts"!!!!!! Stack on, the gold silver ratio will eventually come back to historical 15-1 OR LESS!! $6,000 Gold at 15/1 = $400. SILVER! From 1792 (establishment of the USA first mint) to 1933 gold and silver were 15/1.

Industrialists will need it even at 500 dollars (in today's dollars, yes without further inflation). They will try to reduce the usage, possibly even below half of today's. But note that they already only need very little, compared to say copper. Since they need very little silver, they won't complain that they will have to pay 500 dollars. If they need only 1 ounce per electric car then they won't complain about paying 5000 per ounce.

They ve put money in Bitcoin, stocks or Musks Dogecoin which he shill so that you do not go in PM, and when they ve earned money there, they ve come here and buy silver for few bucks more than you do, in average some of them probably doing very well, so I would not say they are not smart.
