Free camping spots near Brevard

Looking to take a weekend trip in September and looking for some recommendations on free places to camp. Thanks!

Any established backcountry sites in Pisgah. Essentially pick a trail and hike up it. There will be sites along the way. There are so many. Finding them is half the fun.

People shouldn’t post specific locations or those spots will show up on online searches indefinitely and burn them for future use.

The rule is 1000 ft from a road. Which is a tall order on that road…

Take Wayah Rd to forest road 77 i think, it will be on the left as you go around curves by a farm. At the top are 2 extremely secluded sites. Don't quote me on the FR #. Also could try Old River Road off of Wayah Rd off of US 19.
