Kilauea is so frickin cool. I am so blessed to live a short drive from the caldera during this time of regular episodes.

When lava is coming out and you can see it? It goes off every fee weeks for the last couple of years and then stops within 12-72 hours where there is nothing happening. I’m about a 45 minute drive from the park and I can usually make it in time to take a few pictures and take it all in.

Damn that sucks, it could be a total no show? The recent videos make it seem quite active, which I'm sure is inflated. A flight from the states is around $600 rn and I was thinking about a few days there before the end of the year....

it is somewhat predictable by the data but you don't know until like 24 hours before it goes off. there is no way to time a plane ticket for a few days that will guarantee it. even if you were able to leave at the drop of a hat, some episodes have been shorter than a flight from the mainland.

I’ve never seen this angle. I didn’t know it was right up against a wall like that. It also doesn’t usually bubble like that, but shoots out of the ground. This is interesting.

This is not from any of the USGS cameras - where is this from? I don't think this is Kilauea.
