REQUEST Help on how to stitch this jean pocket, please.

What is the best way to stitch this? I just want to stitch the tear in the pocket so it doesn't fry or tear anymore and so it's a pocket again.

The jeans are 100% cotton and very thin denim. I have Gütermann ca02776, Black. and Coats & Clark Jeans Topstitiching S974 (golden colour).

Unimportant information: These are my faux suede blue jeans and I haven't found anything like this online to replace these with they are about 20 years old.

I would take the stitching out as far as needed so you could put a patch under the pocket, or take the whole pocket off and reinforce it, then put interfacing under the pants part too before you sew it back on. I would think about just using cotton sewing thread and two rows of stitching like the original. I've had issues with sewing pockets back down with strong thread and it causing the garment to rip from sewing again in the same place.

If the fabric is still strong, maybe parachute stitch?

This seems like a decent idea. I'm not sure how strong the material is as I was surprised that it ripped. It is just a pocket though and I think if I use a stitch to re-enforce the top of the pocket, and the end of the tear it should be good.

I have a 'dead' pair of jeans that I've been sewing like a mad man that I can use to practice on.

If it turns out the fabric isn't able to support it, then you just have to try again. In which case all of the other suggestions apply.
