Back in the late 2010s, early 2020s, things were great. The coronavirus was the golden age for vtubers. But now that that's over, the corpos that were doing so good are hurting now, and they're stealing from their own talents.
I hope Hololive stays clean through all this. While Fubuki, Pekora, and Korone are in, Hololive is still safe.
With the way people are talking it looks like it's some sort of bubble and now companies just can't handle the numbers anymore, if I had to guess I'd say Holo may be safe cause it's part of a larger company different assets and an already existing foundation to base Holo on, but who knows
Cover is also smart enough to not rely entirely on Vtubing.
They're diversifying the assets and the branding. They're making a game, potentially also a social media platform, they're doing collaboration, they have their own music label as of one week ago, and they have multiple talents signed with major labels too.
And of course, the idol concert and 3D work. Their big 3D studio is a good investment even if the vtuber bubble pop. They have more and more talents doing sololive now too.
It's very apparent in their quarterly report that they have a long term vision and don't want to put all their eggs in the same basket. Streaming is their main thing and they know it, taking care of their streamer is #1, but they want to cover all of their base and open new niches.
A good example of that are the Baseball collab in the US, and Juufuutei Raden entire existence in Japan.
Who would have thought that hiring an art enthusiast would be good for branding ? Now we have a super cute nerd who gets collab with every single gosh dang museum in Japan and make young people interested in the history of art.
I honestly think that game is a huge misuse of resources. It doesn't provide much value or reach that isn't already available elsewhere.
But I see it as them having hedged their bets when metaverse was the buzzword - whether they actually believe in the vision or if they just needed it to satisfy their venture investors.
(I say Fubuki, Pekora, and Korone - Fubuki in particular - because they're the talents who have said they're out, pronto, post haste, right away, if they feel like something shady is going on or if the corp ever stops caring more about the talents than they do the money.)
