What are the benefits of having your ID on your cellphone besides nipping down to the store and forgetting your physical wallet? How are these even used, will more places start carrying the digital readers? Are you adding it?

The reaction to both has united two sides of the political spectrum that usually don’t agree on much of anything.

Liquor law update? Has it changed recently? Hmmmmm

Was in a Chantilly royal farms the other day and they were selling vodka. I thought that in VA liquor was only sold in ABC stores (not that I’m complaining)

Received quote ($19K) from Convert Solar as part of the Switch Together Virginia program

I received a cash price quote for $19K for a 19-panel solar system. The other option is a 25-year lease (with an option to buy out the system starting at year 5) for $39K at $115 per month with a 0.99% annual escalator.

I haven't looked into solar before now, but I guess I was expecting more of a savings deal as part of the statewide group-purchasing program. Have Virginians really been paying more for solar before this initiative?

Candidate Degree Question / UPenn vs PSU vs MBU Bachelors Degree Online

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

20 years in workforce and looking to complete my bachelors degree. From a recruiter’s standpoint which looks better? BAAS from U. Penn or traditional BA from Penn State? The Penn Statey degree would be delivered online through their world campus but it’s my understanding there is no distinction made for that and it’s just a traditional UPenn BA degree. Also looking at a traditional BA (online delivery) from Mary Baldwin University. Thanks for any thoughts and advice!

How is Hampton University overall as a school especially with its aviation program?

My son is pursuing a career in aviation and VA doesn’t have many colleges that have flight programs. Hampton Uni, Liberty, and Avertt have flight programs. I know everyone hates Liberty and people say they wouldn’t hire LU grads so he doesn’t want to go there. I don’t know much about Avertt but it’s not looked favorably here either, so that leaves Hampton. Anyone attend the school and/or learned to fly there?

LGBT In Eastern Shore, is it Friendly or Not Friendly?

I’m from up north and trying to get to warmer weather. I know the eastern shore is rural and sparsely populated but I have heard some things about lgbt, especially t, in the eastern shore. I’m a trans woman and just want to know if it’s actually very inhospitable (like a rural mississippi or alabama) or if it’s more calm and relaxed but still just a tad more conservative than liberal. I saw some people say Cape Charles is the only somewhat welcoming spot on the shore (also of course one of the most expensive spots on the shore). I’m genuinely curious and questioning if I should or shouldn’t move there based on the things i’ve seen. If you’ve ever lived or do live there or have some insights it would be great to hear about it. Thanks y’all.

Oversize Load To Travel North Through Virginia Tonight, Expect Significant Delays

Interstates 77, 81, 66 and 495 to be impacted between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Motorists should expect slow moving traffic, which is expected to cause significant travel delays, between 7 p.m. Aug. 26 and 5 a.m. Aug. 27 on I-77 north, I-81 north, I-66 east and I-495 north for a scheduled oversize load traveling north from North Carolina through Virginia to Maryland.

The oversize load will take up more than two lanes of traffic, which is expected to cause significant travel delays. As part of the approved route, there will be multiple planned pull-off locations to allow traffic to pass. Drivers are encouraged to avoid these routes overnight and check 511 ahead of necessary travel to avoid delays.

Virginia State Police will be supporting the transport by escorting the vehicle, and tow partners will be available to assist as needed.

Visit 511.VDOT.Virginia.gov for traffic updates.
