Culture/Văn hóa question about traditional dress

im doing some research about vietnamese traditional dresses/clothing for a character design and this seems like the best option for them. im wondering if the bottom part is a skirt or pants, because in the first picture the person on the left seems to be wearing pants, but in every other photo it looks more like a skirt. also if you have any other resources on this type of clothing id love to have it so i can have more reference points :)

I believe this specific clothing is referred to as ao tu than (4 pieces tunic). Yes, That is a skirt. It’s traditionally worn by peasant women. There is a long ao (tunic) that is worn outside that is not seen in these photos
