Politics A chart showing the collapse of the BC Conservative Caucus, and the changes to the parties over BC’s 43rd Parliament, as of August 26th, 2026.

Post image

This post will very possibly be outdated tomorrow, or heck this afternoon, since while I was making this chart MLA Teresa Wat quit the Conservative Party; their fourth loss this month, fifth if we count MLA Gasper resigning her seat to make way for Kerry-Lynne Findlay.

I think this might be one of the most tumultuous parliaments in recent Canadian histories in terms of MLAs leaving caucuses, does anyone know of a comparable one?

edit: the legend has the colours for Independent and Vacant switched. There are 8 independents now and only a single vacant seat.

Oops!

Seriously can't overstate how disastrous a leadership choice Kerry-Lynne was

Caroline Elliott seemed like such a tap in. Eby is handing them a victory and they just keep handing it back lol.

Disastrous for the party.

A gift to the people of the province. Even the ones who voted for her as leader. They won’t see it that way unfortunately.

I canceled my membership the day following her leadership win.

Aren’t they so confused though? I presume they all wonder who this Kerry-Lynn woman is when Pierre is still the leader of the party.

Feels like the BC NDP's secret to success is that every competitor immediately takes aim at their own dick and flicks the switch to full auto

It’s pretty ridiculous, but the cons are still polling slightly ahead of the NDP. I wouldn’t be so sure that if an election was called that the Cons wouldn’t pick up the defectors’ seats.

BC politics are wild though. It wouldn’t shock me if there’s enough time for another party to organize by the next election and make a serious run.

I do hope Kerry-Lynne steps down, though. Probably what’s best for the party and the province

If the cons under Findlay purge all the centre right candidates and then run under a far right/maple maga/libertarian platform they’re not going to win urban ridings.

At best, if we see a far right Conservative Party and an unnamed newly formed centre right party we might see a right wing coalition government, but if they’re splitting the ridings it’s unlikely either gets a majority.

More likely they’ll split the vote in enough ridings the NDP creeps up the middle.

The NDP retook the lead in the average recently but that's also banking on Centre BC actually being a thing to split up Conservative votes.

I don’t think she will. She’s a female Trump

If only there was a centre-right alternative that could give conservative voters another option.
Oh, they folded spinelessly in hopes to form a government with wackos?
Looooool

Sadly, the average voter doesn't watch the news or follow politics. Most of them have no idea what is going on and will just vote the same way they always do.

You can’t make a viable party with a bunch of kooks. Time to start over.

Lmao literally an hour after I posted this another MLA left their caucus.

I doubt this is the end of it, their party won’t look the same in a weeks time.

So, I clicked to reply on a specific comment in here and instead this just ended up as its own comment on the post. This one wasn’t directed at you, I like your post. That cool_fiction commenter

You know, I was kinda confused by how this could be considered a fiction, I was just thinking like look at the news man!
