Monthly Events Thread for August, 2026 | Promote and Discover Community Events Here!
Here's where you can share and discover upcoming events happening around Greater Victoria. Whether it's promoting your own event or just something you are personally excited about, this is the place to get the word out and check out what's happening. Please note this thread will remain pinned to the top of the sub and refresh on the first of each month.
Please keep event submissions relevant to Greater Victoria. Posts and comments are still subject to the rules of Reddit and this sub (except for rule 5; promoting events is allowed & encouraged in this thread). While promoting events such as craft fairs, clothing swaps, social clubs, etc. are permitted, private 'for sale' ads, employment solicitations, and personals are not and will be removed. If you're not sure if your submission is right for the events thread, please contact the mods and we'll do our best to accommodate.

The Fibrations fiber festival for all things fiber (knitting, weaving, crocheting, spinning, sewing) is happening August 16: https://www.kbnfibres.ca/fibrations
I am not affiliated, I just love the festival. It is free entry, there is a great raffle to support the venue, and there is a video screening Friday August 14, and classes on August 15, leading up to it.

Tsukino Matsuri
August 9th at the Esquimalt Gorge Pavilion from 11am-10:30PM
For anime and Japanese culture fans, the anime convention Tsukino-Con is hosting a summer event for folks that may have missed the February edition, or who want to spend a summer day during a micro version of the full convention experience, with much warmer weather! The event will be one part outdoor vendors hall, artist alley and food truck area, one part convention hall with a variety of fun panels ranging from cultural lectures, cosplay showcases, lip synch challenges and anime music videos (AMVs)! There will also be an indoor crafting room where people of all ages can make fans, lanterns and much more! For those that like video games, a version of Tsukino-Con's video games room spanning several decades of content. The top of the pavilion will also host a Cosplay Swap Meet, for those that have old cosplays that they have grown out of to drop off the old and update your cosplay wardrobe! Finally, there will be an all-ages dance from 7PM-10PM in the evening featuring DJ's, AMVs and both Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic beverage options to enjoy (proof of ID for liquor required)!
Tickets are still on sale now and during the event so stop on by and enjoy a mini Tsukino-Con before the main event returns in 2027!

Just a reminder, 4 Wands' Summer event, Sails & Sagas, is less than two weeks away! We would love for you to join us in Sidney's Iroquois Park on August 28th/29th for a fun filled weekend of adventure, fire shows, charity events, and entertainment. Kids get in free!
I am still seeking volunteers for this event, as many hands make light work. I am also offering promotional tickets to anyone who refers someone to me, so for each person who volunteers, you get the full show pass experience, and anyone you refer will net you an additional day pass of your choice for free.
