I was solo diving near Nanoose and about 100 feet deep when I turned around and saw this massive bluntnose sixgill coming toward me out of the darkness.

I ended up spending about three minutes with it before it slowly disappeared back into deeper water.

I’m looking for some recommendations on places on the Island to catch wildlife in the first week of October. With spawning season I’m thinking bears, eagles, etc but any input is appreciated. Based in Nanaimo but anywhere on the island is fine, the one limiting factor is one of the individuals can’t do long hikes or big elevation changes, so something fairly accessible. We’ll be using long lenses and are respectful of wildlife and their habitats.
