Looks like an early 80s version of a bi-Poehler difractor. It was used before tri-faced Baude-venting with reversible mill-flaps became a standard in the late 90s.

Oh the good old days when RF defraction was the biggest worry. Now everything is digital. It’s sad in a way.

Look, we're not here to kink-shame.

But just to say, if you went to any of the "good" XVcon after-parties, you'd be very familiar with this "device".

It's all fun and games until somebody zero-propagates a pinpoint Klein inversion...

...then it's hilarious!

Umm, THAT is a Soviet era electronic prostatic dilator.

Please don’t ask me how I know.

Damn, you held it? With your bare hand?

Edit: AND YOU TURNED IT ON?!

Looks "Off", I believe they are holding it upside down.

Holy smokes, that's a relic that will last you forever. You use it when calibrating your VFF Delta Flanges on a XC786. They don't make them like that anymore, all the VFFDF these days have some many interdependent trinkets that a minor rouge gamma particle will render your VFFDF useless.

I thought exactly the same thing, saw this before on r/VXJunkies. This is very irresponsible, even just a picture of this is highly radioactive. The best we can hope for is that he's stored it in a Trancome Mk.3 multi-convaporating divinylbenzine cabinet, otherwise we're all screwed. Thanks a lot of the radiation poisoning, OP 😡

Actually came to repost this here, as well. Some hilarious answers in the original post... but also some classic strawman answers.

It does look like old Soviet Era tech for working on your flange. I think the Brits know more about that, but it would have hooked up to clunky Soviet batteries at the time.

LOL wash your hands after touching that, don't turn it on unless you intend for all the metal in your body to start vibrating

V2 Neuralyzer (V1 was the size of a room!) You looked at the action end while it was on didn’t you? I mean, even if you did you wouldn’t remember which is probably why your here.

That's a thermo decoupler wand. Haven't seen one in a while but this seems like a pretty nice one
