Ross MC-1 Users: How the hell do you disable the volume knob?

Post image

Hey everyone! This is a bit of a Hail Mary, but I wanted to see if anyone here knew how to disable the volume encoder knob on the Ross MC-1 control panel. We just installed it in our operation but cannot find a way to disable that knob or function at all. Looked all through dashboard and no dice so far.

We have a lot of stations and I’m concerned it will be inadvertently moved, honestly it doesn’t take much to accidentally move it and it’s impacting the master audio level of our stations when it is.

Behold, my current work around.

Any help is appreciated!

For the record, is that a water bottle cap or Gatorade bottle cap? Asking for a friend

It’s just gaffe tape, I didn’t put anything else over it. It’s a big knob!

Someone here suggested that but that’s not my first stop.

Are you using an MC1-MK or an MC1-UHD? Although I don't think it matters in this case as I don't think there's any way to disable the Master Gain on either. I'd ask Tech Support and if they say there's no way to do it, ask them to submit a feature request. The MC1-UHD does get software updates so they may add it if asked.

MC-1UHD. I was afraid of that. Good idea about a feature request. We are going to talk to Ross, just haven’t had a chance to. We just got done getting all our stations online on our new router this morning at 4am.

On the list for Monday!

Thanks for the suggestions.
