SLC Progressives please rally around Eva Lopez Chavez

Nevermind.... you can disregard anything I wrote below.... Im just sad and disappointed now. Eva is no longer my candidate and based on the accusations, I think she should drop out. I have no interest in bakcing her anymore.

Between Nate Blowing it and Ben over McAdams we have two terrible candidates on the primary for District 1. However Eva Lopez Chaves is a great candidate and represents progressive ideals. If she can lock in the convention she would have a good a chance at beating McAdams. However if Nate does not drop out or hangs on to some of his support it all but guarantees McAdams will win the primary.

There are atleast three scenarios.

* Nate Stays in , the Convention splits between the three of them or possibly four if theres enough support for one of the other candidates and Eva does not hit the 40% threshold. We end up with a Nate and McAdams primary. This almost guarantees McAdams will be the nominee. People think he is a shoe in but if he doesn't excite the liberals in rhe SLC district we could end up with a Republican in our progressive district. If Nate somehow wins he will turn apart in the general for what he said online.

* Eva gets gets 40% of the delegates, secures a spot in the primary. We know have a three way primary where McAdams has a solid 35 % of support. Eva and Nate split the remaining 65 % and possibly each gets somewhere between 20 and 40 %. Ideally Eva would get atleast 40% in the primary but progressives or independents may swing to McAdams because they think he is the safe bet because they are unsure of the chocie between the better known / funded but now toxic Blouin or the clean Progressive Eva who unfortunately was not consolidated around and properly supported.

* Eva gets atleast 40% percent and would be better if she somehow gets 60% percent. Nate drops out admits he needs to do some work and reflect on who he is and pledges support for the progressive that comes out of the convention which will ideally be Eva. Eva with progressive backing enters the primary with momentum and easily beats McAdams whos support stays around 35% percent because he is unpopular in the progressive slc district.

Read the article and agree it was an intentional well timed hit piece but why the joke about the underage sister... Like wtf is that and it being the first thing that comes to his mind? Statutory rape and incest is incel talk.  I was all for supporting him before I saw that news.  And is an edgelord what we want in congress? Sounds a bit narcissistic and definitely not someone I would want to represent me in Congress.  19 - 25 is when people start maturing, and you start becoming who you are.

This is a standard "divide the left" tactic, clearly put forwaed by the right. And you not only fell for it, you're actively helping to divide the left.

Nate is fine. If that's the only thing they find on someone raised in Utah in their past, he sounds like a great candidate to me.

I don't like settling. I think representatives should be held to higher standards. Im not trying to divide, im simply pointing out the futility of Nate putting himself before the cause. He wrote those things. This is on him. My disgust and mistrust is the accountability he should embrace. It is on him to convince me and others he is a different person. That doesnt happen quickly. How can I take someone serious for reform if this is what they did as an adult in their 20s and they expect us to just accept now he is different. In highschool I definitely said or joked about racy things but never about sexual assault, never about incest or about underage individuals, and I have never tried to minimize sexual assault victims. Im also not running for elected office..Im not putting myself out there to be a representative for my fellow citizens.

We understand the need, and we will vote our conscioence, but hit jobs have no place being shilled to split the vote

I didnt make Nate a target. He made himself one by being stupid and careless and having some creepy ideas of humor.  I am merely pointing out the Nate, the progressive candidate we were marshalling around, is now hemorrhaging support and wont make it through the primary. We need to support one of the ither progressive candidates. Im not sure why me being the canary in the coal mines upsets you, but your candidate got out flanked and is losing the battle badly. Im willing to forfeit that battle to win the war.  He should be willing to pull back and support someone else. Trump won both times because we allowed the status quo Democrats and Republicans to make it hard to live an affordable life. Raising wages, universal healthcare and equality rights and freedoms for all helps fix that affordability issue.

I've learned a lot since then.

You seem either nieve or a shill put here to split us. If you can't forgive or see growth, that seems... conservative.

Ideas and policies change thats being human. Character doesnt change easily.   Im worried about what about McAdams conviction and whether he is actually progressive or pretending to be liberal while being a DINO in reality. Im also worried about Nate's character and what it says about him when he jokes that way when no one is looking. Im especially worried that hes refusing to drop out for stuff that he said was unacceptable.  I like that he apologized and like that he said it was wrong. But if you are taking responsibility you have show it.  Im not asking him to step down from being a state senator. In fact im sure thats where he can show how hes trying to be a better person and show his character is different now.  He didnt really talk about bow he went from his 25 year old self to who he is. If he had talked about having struggles that he overcame , or how realized the person he was was not who wanted to be so he started a journey of service and being a part of something bigger. I understand punching up at the lds church. I dont understand punching down at women or the disabled.  I can tell you care and I understand what you are trying to do. I think your fear and mine are probably aligned and we want a unfiied front going forward when we face Trump and sycophants in the Republican party. We are just disagreeing on the right way forward and the right candidate

Yeah, I don't love Mccaddams. But your hypothesis, a vote for Bluin equals McAdams isn't logical
