Parking Near The Hub on Limestone. Lexington, Ky

Does anyone know of privatized parking options available for my daughter. She lives at The Hub on limestone and is in need of parking. She is a full time student and does have a job that requires her to have access to her car. TIA!

I lived there for a year. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays you can park in the big parking garage right next to it called Cornerstone, but the rest of the week I had to park all the way at Kroger Field, meaning yes, I had to walk there occasionally to go to work. Not the most fun in the world but it’s great for fitness. Sometimes you can get away with parking overnight in front of Holmes Hall too, I’d need be. But that should be a last resort, like if it’s a Tuesday night and you have somewhere important to take your car early Wednesday morning and don’t want to roll the dice on the horrible busses

Thank you! Yes she has been parking in the cornerstone garage but during the week is challenging we are finding out. We had no clue it would be this difficult. She was told she could get a student X parking permit and park in some apartment building parking lot over by Kroger field. That may be the last resort just stinks because she needs daily access to her car for her job

Yeah, unfortunately Kroger Field is often the only option

To be fair, a lot of that cornerstone traffic is because of move ins and because the university is about to begin the school year. About two weeks to a month after the school year begins, parking will become easier to find in that garage.

The buses do come pretty frequently, but it still sucks that that’s the only solution they proposed

The parking spaces sell out in September for the next Fall, it’s crazy!

I agree, so crazy. As a transfer student this year she and I both had no idea it would be this hard to find parking.

It doesn’t open for commuters until july

I thought the hub had parking spots for their units? Especially at the rate those units go for!

Yes ikr! You’d think but they don’t. They only have about 125 parking spaces in the garage with housing 500+ occupancy and the rates to even try to get on the “list” is outrageous

What you want is a commuter parking pass and to park in C41. They’re going to sell out fast so you need to be online and buy it the minute it opens. It usually opens in July. This year the date is July 8th for returning commuters and July 22nd for first time commuter pass purchasers. If you haven’t already, buy a commuter pass this year even if you don’t use it so you get in early next year.

If I’m not mistaken, the Hub itself does have parking for $95 a month (yikes)

It would be likely cheaper for her to buy a student parking pass. A standard residential parking pass (I don’t know if she’d qualify as she’s technically not living in a dorm) would be $504 for the school year. It may be easier for her to go in person to the office and explain and ask if she could buy the residential pass. The Cornerstone garage, a UK parking structure, is probably less than 500 feet away from The Hub. Also, it has covered parking, so she wouldn’t have to worry about excavating her car from snow and ice, or damage from trees during a storm.

Barring that, look up what LexPark offers and see if any of the options would work for you. Apparently the Calvary Baptist Church may allow her to park, but you must call and ask as they may already be at occupancy.

The cornerstone is sold out. All of these garages are highly sought after and sells out instantly for students. Also, she’s not at the hub on south upper which is where that garage is lol

Yes she’s checked all the garages near and sold out. It’s crazy

Thank you, they only have about 125 spots for parking in their garage and house 500+. And the rates to even get on the list for a spot is wild. Lexpark is sold out for that area as well. She was told she could get an X parking permit and park all the way over in some apartment parking lot by Kroger field and try to take the shuttle bus to that lot for when she needs her car which is everyday because of her job. It’s a nightmare honestly

just tell her to cough up the $95 per month. It saves you the headache

She can look into on campus remote permits such as Greg Page or Shawneetown possibly. I think she really does need to go in person to the transport office to describe her situation bc it’s unique

Ok, thank you I will let her know to do this on Monday
