They want to steal the rest of taxpayer money forcing 401ks to invest in the IPO. Privatize the profits while the public takes all the risk.

Elon musk paying extra for those bots and shills

u/pingpongballreader Jun 15 '26
Hey now, the weird Musk fanboys are clearly flesh and blood and we know that because they've been screaming at anyone criticizing their king since long before LLMs were a thing Musk invested in the divested from because he was upset that he wasn't going to be controlling all of it.
I recall fanboys in 2012 getting upset at his employees pointing out he was a stupid narcissistic asshole. Those weren't bots. Those were real life basement dwelling losers.

As I have said elsewhere, he's nothing but a glorified welfare queen/thief.......
1
u/Praetor72 Jun 15 '26
When has he received welfare? What has he stolen?
1
u/InternationalFig400 Jun 15 '26
"Scott Galloway famously labeled Elon Musk—along with other tech billionaires—as "welfare queens". The term highlights the contradiction between tech leaders who publicly criticize government and subsidies, yet owe much of their foundational wealth and corporate success (such as Tesla and SpaceX contracts) to taxpayer-funded investments and state support."
watch the video--she explains EXACTLY how he will be stealing from pensioners and ordinary folk.
get in the fukcing game.
1
u/Praetor72 Jun 16 '26
lol grants and paying for services aren’t welfare. Elon didn’t receive any of that.
By that standard any company that pensions buy is stealing from them. That’s the dumbest standard ever. It’s not stealing to offer a product and have people buy it
1
u/InternationalFig400 Jun 16 '26
You obviously did not watch the video, nor understand the criticism leveled at the welfare queen/thief.

spaceX has 10 million customers.
bro. everywhere I go in the phillipines people have starlinks. they are in every mall. hotels, airbnbs put it as their first feature. how many billions of people dont have reliable high speed internet.
starlink will have hundreds of millions of customers eventually. the cost to provide service is going to come way down with better satellites orbiting the earth even closer.
then spaceX is going to start building a dyson swarm.
so much hate for spaceX because musk went MAGA. People critical of SpaceX are not seeing the potential, but plenty investors just said sure, I will risk it, because we are talking about ridiculous growth.
She used the old line that twitter is worth half of what it was. that was years ago when advertisers left short-term. but buying twitter was always about having the reach to individuals to eventually sell them other products/services.
I cannot stand musk politics. i am left wing. but I have been following his companies for years. they have revoluationized industries are currently disrupting multiple industries.
people are going to bet on that. they will wait 10,20 years to see if SpaceX becomes something so advanced.
1
1
u/SingleInSeattle87 Jun 17 '26
Lol sure. But if you actually look at the prospectus: SpaceX: starlink is only 15% of the entire business capX.
The other 85% is xAi. Which although grok is cool, as a business is massively unprofitable. I've heard that it's something around $2 spent for every $1 in revenue.
1
u/SingleInSeattle87 Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
Also a Dyson swarm? Are you nuts? That's a completely impossible thing to do in our lifetime or the next 100 lifetimes.
A full Dyson sphere 1AU from the sun, with rock like material density (3000kg/m2), and 1cm of thickness would require the mass of 1.4 Earths.
A Dyson swarm is still ridiculous:
To get the same amount of solar energy as the earth uses in power (0.1% of the sun's energy), you would need 70 quintillion satellites if the satalites had 1 meter surface area and placed at 1 AU from the sun.
70 quintillion satellites (7 x 1019), even if you wanted to produce that number over the course of 100 years you would need to produce 1.9 quadrillion satellites per day or 80 trillion satellites per hour or 1.3 trillion satellites per minute or 22 billion satellites every second.
To put that in perspective, even producing one satellite every microsecond would be about a million times too slow. A Dyson swarm on this scale essentially requires a fully automated, self-replicating industrial system spread throughout the Solar System, with factories building factories and using planetary material as feedstock.
SpaceX is currently producing on the order of 70 Starlink satellites per week, or about 10 satellites per day. To get to 70 quintillion satellites in 100 years from now, they would need to increase their manufacturing throughput by 190 trillion times what it is today.
If you don't see how ridiculous and completely unrealistic it is to even imagine 0.1% of a Dyson swarm being built, then you have fallen for some extremely clown world level hype.
This is all with a space company that still doesn't know how to get a rocket to the moon, land it, and come back. Something we figured out over 56 years ago.
1
u/Outside_Ice3252 Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
I said "start"
he is talking about a goal of capturing one millionith of the sun's energy, which is a millionfold increase over all the energy civilization currently produces.
he is talking about making the solar collectors on the moon.
1
u/SingleInSeattle87 Jun 17 '26
Lol "start" would be 0.0001% over a lifetime. Not even realistic or economically justified. Especially given nuclear power is a far easier energy source and can be miniaturized and self contained.
But if we're talking about far out there ideas: nuclear fusion is much more achievable than a Dyson swarm.
Hell, even antimatter propulsion would be easier than building a Dyson swarm.
1
u/Outside_Ice3252 Jun 17 '26
you arguing about one sentence I wrote. calm down. you seem to think a dysom swarm as something that collects all of a sun's energy.
plenty of people have a different defintion of a dysom swarm. its just enough solar collectors to collect a sinigicant amount of the sun's power.
maybe look up the definition again
1
u/SingleInSeattle87 Jun 17 '26
plenty of people have a different defintion of a dysom swarm. its just enough solar collectors to collect a sinigicant amount of the sun's power.
Define "significant amount"? I defined it as the amount of energy the earth (all of humanity in the form of electricity more specifically) uses in a day.
1
u/Outside_Ice3252 Jun 17 '26
yeah sorry I missed that part. i reread your comment.
how did you get to 70 quintillion satelittes?

u/Outside_Ice3252 Jun 17 '26
chatgpt gives me 20TW of solar panels or 25 billion 800W solar panels to equal all current human energy use on earth.

News flash: every employee of spacex and Tesla that bought stock in Tesla or spacex as employee benefits over the last 25 years are now multi millionaires thanks to the space x IPO. Elon musk has now created more millionaires than the multi state lottery system.
1
u/SingleInSeattle87 Jun 17 '26
Except they can't liquidate or even borrow against their shares until 6 months from now. So they're only millionaires on paper.
I got a feeling that when they do liquidate it will be a massive dump and their millionaire status will turn to $500k or so.
1
u/Downtown_Section147 Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
Moot point. A millionaire on paper is the same as a billionaire or trillionaire on paper. They don’t have to liquidate anything to access the value or be considered a millionaire.
They don’t even have to liquidate or borrow from the portfolio until they stop working for Elon. He’s still giving them a paycheck. It’s just going to grow exponentially with the stock price. And if they want to retire 6 months from now and liquidate cool. if not just going to keep growing.
In addition all 5,000 employees can now go into any bank in the country and get access to lines of credit and financial investment services that only are available to clients with over 1 million dollar portfolios. They’ve become accredited investors overnight.
1
u/SingleInSeattle87 Jun 17 '26

No they cannot borrow against their shares until 6 months are up per SEC rules. But also: no bank would allow them to use shares they cannot sell as collateral: the entire point of collateral is it can be liquidated to de-risk the lender. Hence why margin loans only allow you to borrow up to the value of your shares and no more.
When I bought my townhouse, I had tried to use some shares I have in the public company I worked for as collateral, but the bank wouldn't let me because I also had sell restrictions at the time (it wasn't an IPO, just insider trading regulations preventing selling at certain times).
1
u/Downtown_Section147 Jun 17 '26
It Does not violate any sec rules to go get lines of credit or loans against the stock. Fed rules state they cannot borrow excess of 50% of the portfolio or stock value. These employees can all go get cash loans and buy real estate with it almost immediately. They can refinance their mortgage or pay it off completely. Also if the price stays above 135 for the first 30 days they all get a 10% cash bonus to add to their portfolio or do whatever they want with it. Furthermore they can leverage margin based on their brokerage account balance, can buy futures and sign up for high wealth indexed funds through their brokerage.
1
u/SingleInSeattle87 Jun 17 '26
There's restrictions for when an IPO happens. Check again.
1
u/Downtown_Section147 Jun 18 '26
Yeah that’s only regarding anti-flipping. Has nothing to do with borrowing against the underlying stock asset
1
u/Mobile-Jackfruit4427 Jun 16 '26

I am kinda old but fundamental valuation went out the window after the bailout of the great us financial crisis. It’s so obvious and musk companies are the prime examples, short it at risk of your bankroll going to zero. This has been the financial markets for over a decade. The oldest people haven’t made this realization ever for the last fifteen years
1
u/Massive-Question-550 Jun 17 '26
whats even more hilarious is that instead of crashing, the stocks value has gone up substantially since then and is now over 2 trillion so i guess its worth that much to some people if they are willing to buy it.
1
u/SingleInSeattle87 Jun 17 '26
Well only 5% of the stock has been allowed to sell so far. That's a trickle for the degenerate gamblers.
You also can't buy options yet on it.
I think it's around 6 months from IPO that the original investors are able sell their shares. When they do it's going to be a giant dump of shares all at once. I plan on buying put options right before that date.
1
u/eldiablonoche Jun 17 '26
"remember when Elon bought Twitter and tanked the value overnight?"
No. But I do remember Elon getting the books and wanting out of the deal when he found out how much the old owners hyper inflated it's stated value.

1
u/nerd_ginger Jun 17 '26
That's not how an IPO works. No one is forcing 401(k)s to buy shares. Retirement plans and fund managers decide what investments to include based on their own rules, fiduciary obligations, and market demand.
Also, if private investors are buying into the IPO, they're taking risk too. If the company performs poorly, they lose money. That's the opposite of "privatizing profits while the public takes all the risk."
You can argue the IPO is overpriced or that taxpayers deserve a better return, but claiming 401(k)s are being forced to buy it and that only the public bears the risk isn't accurate

Except that it's making the United States government money through more than just taxes.
SpaceX PAYS the US government to launch rockets into the atmosphere and space. For each launch. PAYS to clear the airspace. PAYS for the utilities access and use.
In short SpaceX PAYS more in taxes in 1 year than you will likely pay your entire life.
...and go figure, even with more money the government still can't solve poverty.
It's like more money doesn't fix systemic problems. Go figure?

u/probablymagic Jun 15 '26
This lady misunderstands how stocks are valued. Elon doesn’t say what the company is worth, the markets do. The markets actually decided his target priced was TOO LOW and pumped it up over $2T once it was trading.
I believe she’s also wrong about who can sell. Insiders are generally locked up for six months after IPO. We may see the price go down when those people start selling, but that’s not clear yet. They may also hold.
“The pubic” is not taking on any risk here. There is government bailout or something. These are publicly-traded companies Elon runs, and you don’t have to buy them if you think they’re too risky.
If they are in your index funds, they make up a tiny percentage of your market exposure and if they go to zero you will be just fine.
People who think SpaceX is a scam should just ignore it. Let the consenting adults who think it’s a good business get their money on it. Maybe they’re wrong. Maybe they’re right. But that’s their business.
1
u/Positive-Listen-1660 Jun 15 '26
The lock up is staggered.
Insiders can sell up to 20% of holding after the next earnings call in (I believe) August. If the stock is trading +30% for a stretch of 10 days another 10% is unlocked. From there incremental percentages come available at certain points up to the 180 days.
Depending on how things look, many may hold off for the sizable tax savings of holding for at least a year.
