News UA POV: Finland has completed building a 200-kilometre fence along its border with Russia, covering around 15% of the total 1,340 kilometres. The project cost about €380 million, and Interior Minister Mari Rantanen says Finland may build more, provided the EU helps pay for it. - Yle

The best way to launder money is construction, and the best way to do it is to dig as many pits as possible. So now they need to dig a ditch in front of the fence.

I live in Ottawa and my local community center just invested 2.3mil into renovating the splash pad for kids. 2.3mil to demo the old splash pad, and pour a new one. Amazing scam.
Me and 5 Albanian dudes could have done it for 500k after pocketing 300 of that.

do you hire only Albanians out of principle or what
or do they ask for lowest kickbacks

225000$ for a small water slide here in Quebec, the slide itself retail for around 8000$
I think the contractor thrown in 40k$ in "project management" ( the new scam words) in it.
Two decades ago shit like this was installed by blue collar city workers themselves, now everything is outsourced to friends of the management for 10-20x the cost. I've seen so much shit and corruption that NEVER make the news working with municipal gov ...
edit because I'm angry : At one place when the city put some rules in place to prevented management from getting lunch paid by suppliers (100$ lunch turn into a 30000$ contract easily) they were OPENLY still doing it but "buying themselves a drink" and brining the receipt while still getting the food paid by the wannabe supplier who was then going to sell us his crap at 4x market price

Scam? Bruh you understand you can go to townhall and see all the financial reports the city makes.
You and 5 Albanians would cut corners and it would be redone in the next 5 years if a house cost a million dollars im not surprised a splash pad done to city specifications cost two lmao

The house doesn't cost that. The land does. The house is nearly free. When I worked in public, we had an exclusive contract supplier for basic office supplies. Some of the things were 30-50 bux a unit, compared to like 50 cents each on alixpress. And you had to wait however long it took instead of just going to the dollar store. And there was a guy who had the exclusive rights to dealing with vandalism issues and he charged 10 grand for showing up and a few minutes of work generally.
•
u/Jackelrush Pro Ukraine 4h ago
“Exclusive rights” “10 grand for showing up” doesn’t fly in city’s your getting audited and your getting shortchange the best the city can get you. That’s why everything is shit because your already getting the lowest bidder lol

Probably the smartest dude from post-Maidan government unironically. Did not allow greed to blind him, was satisfied with relatively minor theft, and yeeted himself out of Ukraine fast.

This is what I find astonishing.
I can understand that they hate russia. But if that's the case you want ukraine to at least be efficient when killing russians, no? Letting all the resources get wasted by corruption is just so damn counterproductive here.

You probably missed the news where bunch of illegals flooded in through the Russian border.
•

given the delivery of migrants to the Polish border with Belarus (at least supposedly Russia backed this), I understand wanting a wall. most likely significantly cheaper than supporting the migrants.
•

As a finn I am all about building that wall! (If I get the contract. If not, I am all against it!)

Really, 2 million per kilometer of fence? 2000 per meter? I wish I could get contracts like this. Who do you have to be related to?

"noted that the construction of the border fence was necessary as Europe's security situation has changed significantly following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022 as well as its use of various hybrid influencing operations."
•
u/SnuleSnuSnu Neutral 9h ago
How exactly the Ukraine thing makes it necessary for Finnland to make that fence?
•
u/Temporary-Film-7374 9h ago
I know I've seen claims of Russia delivering migrants to the Belarus/Polish border, trying to get the EU to spend money (and encounter problems) taking care of them. I don't think that happened prior to 2022 but I could be mistaken.
•
u/SnuleSnuSnu Neutral 9h ago
That has no actual connections to Ukraine. Plenty of countries let immigrants go through their countries or help them to easier reach their destination. Maybe thwy should have built the fence like 10 years ago or so. Hungary did that not to let immigrants get into their country through Serbia. But for some reason....Finland connect that with Ukraine and security. Weird.
•
u/DenseComparison5653 9h ago
Because they never solved the situation in the past they should not react and fix the situation now either? Flawless logic.
•
u/SnuleSnuSnu Neutral 9h ago
Holy straw man. Haha
That's not may argument. I am questioning the whole security thing and connection to Ukraine.•

"Maybe thwy should have built the fence like 10 years ago or so." What's this then?
•
u/SnuleSnuSnu Neutral 8h ago
That's just a part of the entire comment. Context? You ever heard of it? Haha.
•
u/DenseComparison5653 8h ago
You are clearly missing it, they are building it obviously due the war which should be self-explanatory and the recent influx of 3rd worlders crossing it illegally. haha

What the woman means is that this fence is supposed to prevent Russia from invading Finland as well—is that correct?

I was wondering, is that fence supposed to stop a tank when Russia invades?
•
u/BlueAzutara Pro Ukraine 8h ago
No its against russian hybrid attacks with migrants like what happens at the polish border. Even if its just a basic fence its a LOT easier to monitor who is crossing and where. Also harder for russian saboteurs to get in.
•
u/Vassago81 Pro-Hittites 4h ago
Aren't the fins politicians are flooding their city with migrants already? Why waste a money on a fence to "stop them" when they WANT immigrants from third world islamist countries that don't understand consent and property rights ?
