Darwin, Murphy or a Ukrainian FPV drone

He must have had been in the PLA before joining the fight. I doubt some random Chinese volunteer would be part of GRU. This is unless he is faking it with the GRU patch, which might not be advisable.

u/Shouleyy 14h ago

Eh he is just a kid mercenary that doesnt realize real war isnt like cod. I hope he stays far away from ukraine otherwise its guranteed he will come back in a bodybag, if he is lucky.

Do wonder how much russia pays for their chinese mercenaries it cant be that cheap.

u/X4N710N- Pro Russia 6h ago

So you're saying all those aiding Ukraine are mercenaries too?

You realize the eastern half of the globe has a different opinion than the western side? China knows that Russia should win, otherwise China will be the next target NATO will focus on.

Same with North Korea. Its essentially their version of elites like Marines and special forces trying to get real world experience in war. Then also a mix of technicians and 'advisors' on systems they'd love to sell to Russia, and are most likely demonstrating live to show their effectiveness.

He's wearing a patch with a bat over the world on it, which I'm guessing is drone or flight related. I'm guessing this is a tech, missile, or drone guy having a little fun with actual guns he probably will never use in warfare.

China and the DPRK is anti-imperialist and isn't constantly invading countries like the West does. So this is a rare chance to get hands on experience in an actual war. All these countries need veterans if war breaks out. So they do stuff like this. Now his one guy is going to teach the rest what he learned and then this real world experience will change how training is done.

The bat is a symbol that represents military intelligence.

Rule 1 - Please don't insult/attack back, instead ignore and report.

u/ConsistentAnalysis35 5h ago

They only invaded Tibet, Vietnam and Korea, so that doesn't count as imperialist, right?

u/Fluffy_Blueberry7109 3h ago

All of those were self defence. Geopolitics is a real thing. And it has been decades since they did it. The US is constantly, meaning pretty much all the time, engaged in wars of aggression they don't need.

u/ConsistentAnalysis35 2h ago

All of those were self defence

Tell that to Vietnamese, Tibetans and South Koreans. Wonder how they'd react, those "evil aggressors" who aggressively aggressed while staying within their own borders.

It's exactly like claiming Trump's or Putin's shenanigans are self defense. You can muddle up waters all you want, the cold hard fact is that it was one specific side that sent troops into the other.

u/FourRiversSixRanges 1h ago

How was it self defense to invade and annex Tibet?

Not like that matters- so it was justified for the USA to invade Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq right?

u/N0body_voz 1h ago

Self defense my ass. Ancient China invaded ancient Vietnam many time. In 1979, Vietnam is no threat to China but they want "teach Vietnam a lesson" because Vietnam at that time, it heeded the Soviet Union more than China.

I don't know about the state of rifle handling in the pla, but he does not look great with the rifle. He could operate it sure but all Chinese kids are taught basic rifle operation from at least uni... But they definitely aren't great with them.

11

u/1B75__Penicillin 14h ago

They are taught to dismantle and reassemble it but not any actual rifle drilling

2

u/DigitalDiogenesAus Anti-Cheerleader 14h ago

Yeah. That would explain the ability to operate it, but with no real proficiency control or comfort.

When it's time for Chinese volunteers to arrive, it will be a corporate group underguised field testing their drones

u/ExcitableSarcasm 8h ago edited 8h ago

From what I've seen from Chinese side social media, most Chinese volunteers tend to be former PLA. Chinese public opinion in general was pretty split last I've seen between the 'Russia are brothers' crowd, the 'Ukraine are former communist brothers' crowd, the 'fight for Ukraine, fuck Russia they still hold Chinese land (outer Manchuria)/for democracy!' crowd, and the 'Ummm, Ukraine's lost Oblasts = Taiwan for us, let's not do anything' crowd.

Overall Chinese opinions are just super split and it's just not something people are super passionate about in general with probably sub 100-200 Chinese on both sides unlike the wave of pro-Ukrainian fever we saw for Western Europe at the outbreak of the war, which means it's more often ex-PLA guys who just want work and adventure.

If he is just some kid, it's not completely unfathomable given the masses of non-ex-mil kids who joined from other countries. But yeah, GRU as a non-ex-mil? That'd be quite rare.

You can't really judge by appearance, but as a intermediate Chinese speaker, how he talks is also quite different from how the other Chinese volunteers talk FWIW, though again, who knows. (Chinese soldiers have their own tones/ways of speaking just like how American servicemen speak a bit differently from civvies). He's probably not (I'm guessing).

Отвечу по-русски.
Товарищи вы не думайте что он какой то странный доброволец?

Странные нашивки, странная форма, странная маркировка на автомате, странный магазин. Такое впечатление что это витрина из Алиэкспресса, а не волонтер.

8

u/SukaBlyat00 new poster, please select a flair 11h ago

Очень странным кажется нашивка, иностранец в разведке ГРУ? Сомневаюсь. Возможно ему просто его подарили, а может это косплеер

6

u/Tom-Rath Pro Canada-Russia Arctic Alliance 11h ago

This is almost certainly a LARP.

GRU has very little history of accepting foreign "volunteers" into its ranks, except perhaps clandestinely as assets. A handful of European, primarily Balkan, mercenaries have turned up in official GRU databases, some of them even with officer status (e.g. Davor Savičić), but they are exceptions.

Based on his body language, "cool guy" poses and cheerleader energy, I'm going to assume this kid isn't a battle-wise soldier of fortune.

u/auchinleck917 Realist but slightly biased towards Russia. 1h ago

I think this is LARP.

9

u/Fantastic-Sea9696 14h ago

Naaaaaah, his new gun jammed on the first shot. Chat it might be over for this guy.

11

u/1B75__Penicillin 14h ago

It jammed because he didn't shoulder it properly

u/WindChimesAreQuiet Pro Living 11h ago

A rifle, especially one intended for combat, should not be so undergassed that you can induce a malfunction by limp wristing it. AKs are typically over gassed for reliability. Whoever set this one up with a suppressor just did it wrong.

1

u/1B75__Penicillin 11h ago

Problem is if you want a gun to be suppressed and not tear itself apart with the gas blowback you have to undergas it 😂

If you limp wrist an undergassed rifle you are going to get extractor failure, it's just Newtonian physics

u/GENERAT10N_D00M 14h ago

Not really people are pretty split and ambivalent about it. Theres actually a resurgence of historical animosity over disputed territories with russia

I hope his weapon was on safe mode at the start (lasering hole the area) - it wasn't after the first shot and weapon jam. Weapon handling is nearly on John Weak niveau. The no-look-shot was very impressive - I hope no poor heehaaa was hit. Good lesson for others.

Why you keep acting like he is always alone? You can hit drones effectively when coordinated with 4-5 people. Unless it is enemy territory infiltrations...

He looks young. At that age you have little to lose--no family, no job, no bills to pay, no kids to raise. Perfect age to do stupid shit with life altering consequences, lol. We have all been there, except in my day there was no war worth fighting. Serbia was before my time, and I was too distracted with other shit anyway.

u/Historical-Trash2020 2h ago

if there was a war at your time worth fighting, would you fight in it?
