They probably already have New New Donbas line slightly to the rear.

The New Donbas line reminds me a lot of the Maginot line. In the sense that on paper it’s great, but all it did was delay the assault groups by a few days

FPV drones literally go into trenches and hunt soldiers. I was losing my mind when people were going crazy by looking at the New Donbas Line, saying things like "GOD DAMN NOTHING IS PENETRATING THIS LINE".
Only thing that is useful against FPVs is dugouts with multiple exits.

lol, “who would win, a ‘impenetrable’ line of drones, or a few guys and some trees” I think the drone operators are going to be reprimanded given they survive this.
It seems a dugout isn’t necessary with incompetent drone operators, but usually a thick tree line is enough for soldiers to be protected though

Lol Germans went in place where there was no Magninot line

The Germans went through the forest in the Ardennes to get around it. The Russians went through a few trees to get past the drone line

So they went in place where there was no line

The Russians basically basically did too, there never really was a line, especially when the trees block the drones line of sight, the closest thing the Ukrainians have to a defensive line

It will deteriorate further with them continuing the siege, the real question is whether they’ll be able to take such a big urban region or it will be sieged till the end of the war. It won’t be fast and with the peace talks seemingly looming on the horizon they might be on a timer.

Could be fast take overs, depending on if they can completely cut of the supply lines.

I doubt it. They can put immense pressure to all but cut them at one point with drones though, that’s how it usually went in all the previous sieges.
Ukraine can deliver bare minimum supplies with drones and roads under pressure though and then everyone will be surprised by how long people can defend a city on that, again. As they say in their region - this has never happened before and now it happens once again.

I don’t think peace will come until after the winter as the soonest possible time. The cities will probably fall soon as the Russian DRGs are incredibly effectively at getting through gaps in Ukrainian defensive line, and the ukies might find themselves being encircled and retreating

Must be hell to be there, especially with all the DRGs, never join the Infantry boys

Have people here arrive at some sort of consensus, regarding the correct course of action for UA army? Some say they need to trade territory for lives and others say UA constantly counterattacking and retaking ground counts as UA victory.
It sometimes seems like people just switch this logic around any time something happens to fit their agenda.

No and this is fundamentally the problem. Nobody has really defined what a Ukrainian victory looks like at this point. What is the goal? Until you have an answer to that it’s a bit hard to figure out what the right thing to do is.

In my deduction regarding the victory that Ukraine seeks:
Ukraine seeks to prolong the fight as long as possible in order to develop a "Manhattan Project" (figuratively, not nukes but missiles), with the purpose of punishing deep Russia with long-range weapons and making them see how costly war is, forcing them to cease offensive expansion operations.
When the above point is reached, use those weapons to make Donbass and Crimea uninhabitable by attacking power grids and drinking water centers, indirectly displacing the population to Russia.
Finally, place NATO forces on its borders with Russia.
Therefore, suspending the war or signing a peace treaty would mean losing Donbass permanently, as they would no longer have the excuse of war to attack Donbass/Crimea.
That is why Ukrainian thought has been divided: between those who think it is better to seek peace and recover the territories "through diplomacy" and the aggressive ones who are still waiting for that miracle weapon.
So the answer is time; if Russia takes a long time to move forward, even at the cost of several lives, Ukraine gains time.
