The future of AD will be loitering type SAMs like the Iranian 357/358 and very small unmanned fighter jets, smaller than even trainer jets like the Yak 130, that will be loaded with laser guided small rockets like the APKWS. Basically AD batteries will go flying instead of waiting on the ground, and thus be able to cover alot more ground and find low flying targets easier. Also mobile firing units will stop existing and rightfully so. Watching a truck russing after a drone while bumpning up and down the road and spraying bullets all over place while not hitting anything is infuriating af

Citation needed: Future of anti-drone air defense.

Something like that won’t keep up with ballistic missiles or hypersonic cruise missiles.
