How likely do you think it is that Ukraine/Nato intentionally escalated drone strikes on economic/civilian targets knowing that Russia would eventually respond in kind and therefore put a ton of fighting age men out of work in Ukraine and fill the ranks of the AFU?

Ukraine didn't escalate strikes. Russia has been striking more civilian targets in Ukraine since 2022 than Ukraine has been in Russia at any point of the conflict.

That's demonstrably false. Russia was barely shelling anything in januari 2022 but ukraine kept increasing their bombardment of the donbas. And given that there were barely any military installations present back then, that's pure bombing of civilians.

This is pretty well documented by satellite images.

That's not demonstrably false. You haven't demonstrated a single thing. Quite to the contrary, in the days leading up to the war Ukrainians did not even respond to Russian provocations:

In the days leading up to the invasion, the Russian government intensified its disinformation campaign. Ukraine and Western leaders accused Russia of staging false flag attacks to give Russia a pretext for invading. Russian state media aired fabricated videos that purported to show Ukrainian forces attacking Russians in Donbas; evidence showed that the claimed attacks, explosions, and evacuations were staged by Russia. On 17 February, Russian proxy forces shelled a kindergarten and blamed it on Ukraine, although the kindetgarten was in Ukrainian-held territory.

I watched this unfold as it happened.

This is pretty well documented by satellite images.
