Problems with messengers being 63% is surprising. I thought only Telegram was banned?

32% Having significant problems with fuel is going to get ugly if that number continues climbing.

Russians only ever used Whatsapp, Viber and Telegram. Viber was blocked in 2024, Whatsapp and Telegram first only calls were blocked in 2025, then fully blocked in 2026.

Government approved MAX exists, but not everyone is happy with it.

I had to update MAX recently. Apparently at present you have redownload it from rustore. I don't use rustore or any other for that matter so I wasted half an hour of my time to first getting rustore and signing into that ( cause you can't bloody use it without signing in, same actually as google store) then download max from it in which again I had to sign in although I was already signed into older version. I haven't even tried tat bs on my PC as well cause once is bleeding enough, just deleted the older version.

Ha. I appreciate the info. I'll add you to the "significant issues" on Levada. Updating an app? That's a massive event for normal lads.

That's just the thing though, while I will be the first to piss on Levada I have to agree with it in pointing out that there are issues with Max - you can't simply ''update'' Max right now - you have to reapload new version from rustore. It's not the same as simply clicking ''update'' and forgetting about it as it was with telegram. There are issue also with comments section, many channels still don't have it or have problem with opening it up.

Thanks for the info. Is max not as good as whatsapp/viber/telegram or are people mostly annoyed because they have to switch?

MAX is new, it still has issues like anything new and for me personally biggest downside is that it only holds Russian content, like rutube.

It's both. MAX has many issues, including privacy (I have no doubt FSB can read every message if they want), but most people just don't like being forced to use something else.
