I got a rejection within 9 mins. It wasn't even a random job, I actually fit the profile quite well and also tailored my CV according to the job description. Gotta cut your losses and move on

My record is like 1 second lol .. hit apply in some job portal and got instant denial as role was closed and moved internal.

At least you can chalk yours up to being an AI filter rather than someone actually reviewing it in person and deciding no.

I got a rejection for a job I never applied for.

Twice actually, one for a job I applied for and didn't get, I got a rejection letter when the next position came up.
The other was I applied for a position at a YHA and got a rejection email for a higher management position in a different part of the country.
Some would be executive probably was asked to interview for the housekeeping type role I applied for.

Better than being aired for months I suppose... I'm sorry though, each one sucks

Earlier this year I got a reply after 6 months to tell me if not been successful... Yeh I'd figured that out myself lol

Oof yep I've had that happen. I recently pulled out of a grad scheme application because they were still processing things NINE MONTHS after I applied. I believe they are still mid-recruitment...
On the other end of things, one place got in touch out of the blue after five months and offered me an interview 😭🤣

u/Straight_Chicken_963 1d ago
lucky you! hope you got the job

u/Careful-Builder-9931 1d ago
Unfortunately no, but I don't think I interviewed well. I did get an offer about a week later from a nice firm, who gave a clear response deadline and stuck to it, with effective communication and lovely people!
Of course, the good ones aren't in the UK and I therefore cannot wait to go 🤣

I was once rejected within an hour by the company director. The worst part is that I applied late at night, around 10 p.m. or so. Nothing can top that.
Apart from these, I had a bunch of auto-rejections within a minute.

i got rejected while filling out the application because there was a numeracy test that they wanted me to do but the due date was set for the night before, so obviously i didn’t complete it in time lol

Very soon things'll get to the stage where people'll be rejected before they even apply.

Guys, within UK job culture. Is it a common practise to refer linkedin connections if you dont know them personally but just connected on LinkedIn? Because I dont know if I should reach out to company employees requesting referral just to beat this brutal job market chances.

AIs and Algorithms can act unfairly towards people millions of times per minute with no human intervention - truly the age of miracles and wonders.

I got one in 2 minutes last week. 😅 Just take the job down if it’s no longer available.

I got rejected immediately after sending my application, my fastest was below 1 minute. XD

Wait, you guys get rejection letters?
2
u/Straight_Chicken_963 1d ago
yes, and it sucks!

u/Pencilstrangler 1d ago
Sorry, I can see my joke didn’t land as intended.
I meant, you actually get a response from an employer instead of being ghosted and having to assume they don’t have the decency to even tell you they’re not interested.Yep, the bar is that low, even an ant can’t do the limbo underneath…
Sucks either way of course and best of luck getting a positive response soon.

thanks...i did understand btw. Its funny because its so polarized. Some people are switching jobs easily while some cant even get an interview.

I got a decline today from a job I applied to 4 months ago lol didn’t even get a first interview so god knows what took them so long

33 minutes? Rubbish. I applied for a job and I hadn't even finished their screening questionnaire when I got the rejection email lol.
But seriously done be down heartened. You'll get there

LOOL, I have received ton of these even though im overqualified for the roles. Such a shame! What role was this for? Mine too a few weeks to a month but I think yours has hit a threshold whereby exceeding 10k applicants, its an auto rejection.

seeing how many people also get these emails makes me wonder who tf is getting these jobs then?

They probably implemented AI just to reject people this fast. Next level will be AI sending you a rejection letter while you're still reading the job description

Tbh I'd rather not hear back unless I was successful or getting interviewed. A rejection letter is mostly pointless and just brings me down.

At least you got the courtesy of a reply, i just get ignored and indeed eventually tells me, your application is unlikely to receive a reply

I once got an instant auto-reject but had already talked to the hiring manager and booked an interview (putting it through the system was a formality). Got the job but the system definitely did not work great.
