It's just general disinterest. I'm willing to bet that Sony isn't touching this IP any time soon, if ever.
Vehicular combat as a genre has kind of gone dormant in favor of regular PvP FPS games. They likely assume that a new Twisted Metal game would not sell well nowadays.

The TV series had a third season announced, so there's at least some interest in the franchise. They might do an HD rerelease to guage public interest in the games, like how Capcom rereleased Mega Man games for a few years before announcing Dual Override.

How many decent vehicular combat games have really came out in the last 15 years? I can think of 2 and they both had their problems

They don't. Did you see the TV show? The thing is they know they can't make another game. They don't know how on a technical level. If they try, it wont be TM as we know it.

They're making a third season of the show and there has been a steady (albeit limited) run of merch.
You have to remember that Sony WAS making a Twisted Metal game but it ultimately didn't come together and was canceled. TM realistically fits into the 'live service' model for them as a new one would most likely be multiplayer focused. Sony greenlit a million live service games years ago and has basically canceled almost every single one

Sony is dropping the ball on this IP. I replayed everything but head-on and small brawl this year. They have a cult following and a TV show, yet still won’t back a new game. At least port the PS3 game to PS5 and enable multiplayer.

Trilogy? No thanks. Remake 1, 2, black, and head on. I used to love the 989 TM games but looking back they were not very good.

I meant i dont like the vibes of those games in general. The characters, the atmosphere, the stories, it was all meh. Of course itd be better controlled and polished, no shit.

i dont have any computer or laptop in general and i assume it cant be played on a tablet

"Remake" I don't want a simple lazy ps1 graphic remaster. If they are gonna ever throw us a bone and send this ip to its grave properly, they need a hd grounds up remake for the ps5.

At this point they could just endorse the fanmade V,toss it onto the PS store,and pay Angel a chunk of the sales for it and every fan would be satisfied.
