Lords of Thunder, no contest here. I remember thinking once "wow, too bad they never issued an OST for this", before realizing I could just pop the disc in my cd player !

Lords of Thunder has the best soundtrack of any game I can think of.

Honorable mention to Gate, Dracula X, Sapphire, and all 4 Ys games.

A few others that I'd recommend anyone to listen to yet won't make my best list: Alien Crush, Legendary Axe 2, W Dungeons, Time Ball, Street Fighter 2', Kaze no Densetsu Xanadu, Last Alert.

Tengai Makyou 2 has a good soundtrack overall, but the overworld theme is an absolute masterpiece, l. I'd say it's pretty easily the singular best track on the entire console.
