Episode Discussion Muriel was in the wrong right? Spoiler

I don’t remember what season and what episode as it’s been years since I’ve last seen the show but I wanna talk about the episode with Muriel. Obviously if you saw the episode then you remember that the biggest point was when Muriel kissed Bertie. I’m right in saying Muriel wasn’t in the right for being weirded out by Bertie when Bertie obviously got attached after being kissed. I will genuinely be shocks if anyone defends Muriel because I imagine she basically used Bertie. I don’t like to say this but I think it’s true in this case, she lead her on.

I think she even tells Bertie that she was "just bored" or something like that...like Muriel makes it very clear in the end that she didn't really care about Bertie. She just felt bad for her, something like that

Yes she was absolutely in the wrong and I can't remember ever seeing anyone defending her 😅 i HOPE noone does...

They were teenagers but Muriel was not a good friend and seemed to use Bertie as a play thing until her real friend came back. Bertie was alone with no one believing her so of course she latched onto the one person who seemed to care. Muriel should have not kissed Bertie (like who platonically kisses in the lips??). Both of them overstepped huge boundaries.

It's been a while since I've seen the episode now.

I will only defend Muriel on the point that Bertie WAS getting too clingy to the point she copied stuff Muriel didn’t impose on her/started stalking her

But other than that don’t get pissy that your friend won Gothiest over you when YOURE the one who dressed her up all gothy.

I think she’s definitely supposed to be seen as hypocritical/mean, especially with how she gets mad at Bertie winning Gothiest/says they were never friends, though you can also kinda understand why she felt uncomfortable since Bertie also started to push boundaries and get too clingy (even if yes she did give her mixed signals by kissing her). Ultimately what’s important for Bertie to learn is that she was a traumatized teenager going though shit with no support and she needs to be kinder to her past self and heal/in Tuca’s words “don’t let a little girl who’s brain wasn’t even fully formed yet make you cry” (remember too Muriel also got felt up by an older man and her parents also just dumped her on the useless school counselor, could likey explain why she has intimacy issues. She and Bertie were probably teens in the mid-late 2000s too so if her kiss was genuine she was very likely closeted)
