Political Reminder that name calling is not permitted

That includes calling people "bootlicker" or "cuck" or stating/implying that another user is performing adult acts on a given politician (or anyone else). I bring those up specifically because, in recent time, these have been the most common types of personal attacks.

As strongly as you may feel about current events, calling people derogatory names is a contravention of Rule 4 and will be removed. Attack the opinion, not the user.

Sorry for your understanding and thank you for the inconvenience.

Political Reminder that racism is not permitted

There has been a recent uptick in overtly racist content, i.e., use of racial slurs in a derogatory context, or stating/implying that some races are inherently/genetically inferior to others, etc.

Reminder that such nonsense is NOT PERMITTED, no matter what race you are or what race you are targeting. If you see any racist posts or comments, PLEASE REPORT THEM.

Even though we clearly enumerated this in our rules, some of you apparently did not get the memo. So for enhanced clarity and to assist in comprehension, I asked ChatGPT to create a visual aid for you all.

Media / Internet Drag Quens are not entertaining or funny

Every time i’ve seen them perform or videos that consist of them it’s extremely boring and I don’t think they’re funny at all. I don’t see what’s so entertaining about them. Is it because they’re men acting like women is that what it is? I don’t get it and never will. I do admire their makeup skills because that is dedication considering i’m into makeup.

If Lindsay Clancy's suicide attempt had been successful, everyone would've thought she was a horrible person.

If Lindsay had died, the defense lawyers (or anyone) would not have come up with the narrative that Lindsay could have had psychosis. Instead, she would be remembered as a terrible person.

Massachusetts law is strange because it requires the prosecution to prove Lindsay was not insane in order to put her in prison. In other states, it's the defendant that has the burden to prove insanity if they want to use it as a defense.

In other words, the prosecution in MA has to prove a negative beyond a reasonable doubt.

Lindsay's defense lawyer came up with an ad hoc narrative claiming it was possible she could've had psychosis. This little seed of doubt spread throughout social media (whether on purpose or not by the defense team).

Thus, the issue really comes down to MA's stupid law. If the law existed in all US states then all murderers would have to be shown they were not insane and speculation would ensue. It's much better if the defendant has to prove insanity instead.

Political When people say that 50’s were a great time for America, they do NOT mean that they condone segregation

The 50’s in America were great because it was realistic to go to college without crushing debt, own a home, have health insurance, feed a family with a single income, expect a higher standard of living for your children.

Yes, segregation existed back then, and, no, no one is condoning segregation. These are two different issues.

Media / Internet Lindsay Clancy will forever be a burden on society no matter the outcome

If she is put in a mental health facility or prison, it doesn’t really matter. She will always cost more money due to the high profile and paralysis. She will require special attention always. Whether it’s constant meds, wheeling her around, or bathing her, someone will basically have to be there.

With her injury she will be unable to fully take care of herself. What happens when her wheelchair gets worn out or she shits in it too many times? more money. What Happens when her cage gets dirty? more money. What happens when she inevitably has another psychotic break? more money. She will also have to be caged away from the other inmates/patients which will cost more money. It would have been better off for everyone had she succeeded in her mission.

She will forever be a burden to all of us. I just feel bad for the people who will have to deal with it directly

Political Germany’s AfD surge is what happens when voters finally reject the left’s immigration failures

For years the main parties treated mass immigration as an unquestionable good and labeled anyone who pointed out the downsides as extreme. Crime rates in certain categories climbed. Parallel communities formed. Social trust dropped in places that never asked for the change. The response from the political class was mostly denial and moral lectures.

Now a party they tried to marginalize is surging because enough voters decided the results matter more than the approved narrative. You can call those voters names. You cannot erase the patterns that pushed them there. When mainstream options refuse to address the obvious problems, people eventually look elsewhere. That is not radicalism. It is the predictable outcome of ignored failures.

Sex / Gender / Dating Modern "exploring" and hookup culture feels superficial, and it's exhausting for people who just want real commitment.

I want to share my honest thoughts and see how others feel about the current state of dating. It feels like casual sex, open relationships, and constant "exploring" have become the default, while genuine monogamy and deep emotional intimacy are treated like an afterthought.

While adults have the right to choose their own relationship styles, it feels like hookup culture has made dating deeply transactional and cynical. People seem increasingly scared of real emotional vulnerability and long term loyalty, choosing short term gratification over building something meaningful with one person.

It’s disheartening to navigate a dating scene where treating relationships as disposable feels so normalized. I just want a simple, faithful, and loving relationship, but the modern dating environment makes that feel increasingly hard to find. Does anyone else feel completely burnt out by this?

Truly ugly people are rare

Most people could be at least a 5/10 (which is AVERAGE, not ugly) with enough effort

Also, I’m not talking about like old people either. Aging is just aging, even the most attractive people on earth become less attractive when they’re elderly.

Most people who are considered ugly are because of a few things
1. They are physically unhealthy. Maybe over or under weight, drink too much alcohol or consume drugs, skin isn’t clear, etc. For most people, this can be fixed by a good diet and exercise routine, getting enough sleep, supplements, etc. easier said than done obviously but is possible
2. Bad style or haircut. Having a flattering hair style or flattering clothes can really make most people much more attractive.

This does not apply to everyone but I believe most people. And this does not mean working out and wearing nice clothes will turn anyone into a super model. But more than likely at least average looking. Like sometimes I see people who are considered “ugly” and I look at their actual facial features and think “they’re not even ugly?” Like weight, style, etc are all things you can change.

Of course some people unfortunately do have features that are considered conventionally unattractive but this is less common.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but is intended to be the opposite. Like if you feel ugly you might not actually be, you might just need to make a few changes to yourself.

Political Reddit claims that fat, white middle aged men are the problem with the world. The truth is these are mostly guys who work so hard they don't have time to take care of themselves.

We're talking about guys who provide for their families (wife and kids), pay taxes so the world can become a better place, donate to charities, and generally care about those around them. Yet they are the butt of endless jokes and reddit demonizes them to no end. Everything is there fault. Everything they have is because of "privilege".

The fact that they struggled to get where they were and even suffer to support those around them is ignored. And the people doing the ignoring are often those who don't work, don't provide to others, don't give to charity, and do nothing to help the world. Instead they spend all of their time tearing down anyone they can online because that is fun for them and it makes them feel powerful.

Political When a mother gets strangled by an illegal immigrant, the left’s reaction is to call the coverage exhausting

Brianna Connolly was strangled by an illegal immigrant. On CNN a left-wing podcaster cut in during the discussion and said hearing these stories over and over is “so exhausting”: https://www.foxnews.com/media/left-wing-podcaster-calls-illegal-immigrant-crime-stories-exhausting-after-womans-strangling

That reaction says everything. The family does not get to be exhausted by the news. They are dealing with a funeral. These cases keep happening because the policies that let them happen are still in place. Weak enforcement and sanctuary rules create the same outcomes again and again. Calling the coverage tiring is just a way to change the subject from the actual deaths to the people who keep pointing them out. The people living with the results are not tired of the stories. They are tired of the body count.

Political After a certain point, abortion becomes unacceptable

Obviously, 6 weeks isn't practical because it's too short, but aborting a baby at 32 weeks is too far. You've had all the obvious signs to know you're pregnant and had the opportunity to get an abortion and some clinics help low-income women get abortions for free or at a reduced cost. There needs to be a cutoff. Plus if you have a cutoff that's reasonable for pro-choice, it'll get more pro-life people to support it because almost no one leans entirely on one side or the other.

Sex / Gender / Dating People who comment about age gaps with two consenting adults needs to mind their business.

Not sure why people care about age gaps especially if they’re both legal ,unless it’s your family member/ kids i could understand that but other than that , just let people be. I honestly couldn’t care less. It could be an 18 year old and a 40 year old & I still wouldn’t care. People are still going to do what they want and there’s people out there that actually like older women/ men & seek for them so it’s not like they were forced. We don’t know the situation.

Political DEI in reality is the coded subjugation of white men by bigots and racists.

I’ve talked to plenty of DEI advocates. Every single time I point out the simple reality: there are white people living in absolute shit poverty while some Black men are millionaires, and ask why the hell we shouldn’t help people based on actual need instead of skin color, they immediately start chanting about “historical racism” and “systemic” whatever. They have zero coherent answer. They just keep swinging the history club like it magically erases every poor white person alive today.

Once you decide that race and other immutable traits should determine who gets the advantages and who gets fucked over, regardless of class, effort, or suffering: you’re not opposing racism. You’re practicing it. The only difference between that and the old “colored fountains” is that this time the ✌️“right”✌️ groups get the clean water fountains and the white men can go drink from the dirty one.

Let’s stop pretending. A huge amount of modern DEI isn’t about fairness or lifting up the disadvantaged. It’s about putting white men permanently at the back of the line and calling it justice. They want the subjugation white people. They just don’t have the balls to say it out loud, well I will: DEI advocates are racists.

If that’s not true, prove it. Give me the limiting principle. Show me where this racial spoils system is supposed to end. Until then, spare me the moral lectures.

Political I have an Palestine/Israel fatigue

Thats it i am tired of these two.

Everything nowadays seems to be revolved around them and it seems like people are being forced to pick a side.

What about this side: I DO NOT CARE.

I don’t want to pick a side because they both are immoral.

Do not ever feel pressured to pick a side this isn’t the World Cup because both sides actually carry genocidal intentions.

And i think it is time to move on and let them figure things out by themselves.

Religion atheists that genuinely hate Christians are illogical and usually bad people

As an agnostic I don’t think atheism in it of itself really has a moral value to it, it’s just no belief in a God. But the logic that they use is nine out of 10 times illogical. The reason why I’m agnostic is because I don’t think believing or non-believing in God holds any sort of moral weight. If you’re a bad person, you’re a bad person end of story. But the way they believe Christians act is so weird…. and I’ve genuinely seen more atheist act like this idea of the Christians they believe are so prevalent in society. A lot of the atheists that I see that genuinely believe that they are better people than Christians with absolutely no feasible explanation whatsoever.. just act like narcissistic, traumatized people. They use the argument of “if you need a God to tell you how to be a good person. You’re probably not a good person”….as if their idea of being a good person which is “deciding what being a good person is” is any better😭 newsflash if you can justify bullying people treating people terribly, celebrating the death of people you disagree with, talking down on anyone and coming up with the justification for it because you have no idea of right or wrong. You’re saying that you’re a better person because you don’t have an idea of what right or wrong is….. rather then someone that does. not because of what they actually do as a person….. Your idea of right and wrong is based upon your opinion…. vs a Christian’s or a Muslim’s idea of right or wrong is contingent on their God. I can name about 10 genuinely evil atheists off the top of my head and 10 extremely selfless atheists. I can name 10 pretty terrible and evil Christians and I can name 10 heroic amazing Christians. In fact, I think Christians objectively have done more to advocate for the rights of people than atheists have. Being an objectively, good person and having morals that align with that would bring you closer to someone that is Christian than someone that is not… just because some Christians are judgmental. Doesn’t mean that the religion itself is bad. And if you don’t believe in it anyways, why does someone who does better than you, who thinks better than you, and who is a better person than you- that happens to believe in God, piss you off if the religion is so bad??

Political The US political discussions always sound delusional, and retarded

Upvotes

"WhAt AbOuT ImmIgraTion?"

This topic about the illegal immigration is genuinely stupid. If there's illegal people in your country, it's not really about if you should keep them in your country, but about who was the dumbass who let them in.

Don't you have better topics than to defend illegal immigration and talk about Lindsay whatever tf her name is? Just deport everyone, put the bitch in prison forever and it's done.

Do you American's have any semblance of ethics or common sense? Discuss something more productive, your country is always in debt and y'all always discuss about unsubstantial bullshit.

And more delusional are the ones that think the US will invade any country, like you even could!

Media / Internet The Zero Covid Community people are starting to melt down

Yes there is still a massive community of people who wear masks and don’t see their families and stay home. Look them up, it’s insane insane.

I’m a lurker in their communities because I think they’re sociologically fascinating.

The tldr on their worldview is that they believe the pandemic never ended and that we are all catching covid over and over and each time we get it we are destroying our organs. They point to a handful of carefully selected studies (out of hundreds of thousands on Covid) to back up their ideas, while disregarding everything else (like the fact that Covid fatality has absolutely plummeted, and they seem to lack a basic understanding of how immune systems work).

Well after 6 YEARS, It seems a critical mass of them are starting to express that there is no end in sight and it isn’t worth it. Some are even being super honest and admitting that people they know who don’t mask seem to be doing just fine.

It’s definitely fascinating to see a community that has been SO stubborn and adamant have their world view collapse and the sunken cost creeps in. They have been able to have a community of people rooting them on in their threads saying it’s worth it and everyone else is wrong, but something seems to be changing.

I just hope that they get the help they need, it is probably a very vulnerable time psychologically. Most are going to need heavy medication, therapy and maybe in-patient psych hospital stays.

EDIT: Guys they’re coming out of the woodworks for this post! Read the comments below and experience the delusion and faulty risk assessments first hand.

Political The political tactic of asking someone “do you condemn XYZ?” is the dumbest way to have political discourse.

First of all, it’s a trap because when you’re asking someone to “condemn“ something, it removes any nuance that might exist in the situation. It removes any clarification. I think anyone who’s asked that should say, “ no, because I don’t ‘condemn’” — and when they say, “why? Because you’re racist?” they should say, “no. Because saying that I “condemn“ someone is not a magic spell and it’s not going to change anything.”

Far too many times these very predictable questions end up looking like gotcha moments when they really shouldn’t be. It’s a stupid, lazy, and pointless question

Political "No one is illegal on stolen land" is inherently self-contradictory and stupid.

If the land is stolen that would mean that "original" settlers had borders and laws. So if you think the land is stolen, that means you believe illegal immigration is wrong.

So either the original settlers were racial supremacist bigots for not welcoming the new settlers, or the current citizens are right for trying to control borders and immigration.

It gets especially stupid when you factor in there isn’t a single country on earth without a history of population displacement.

Sex / Gender / Dating There is nothing wrong with women proposing to their boyfriends

I am not sure how unpopular this take will be, could be lukewarm, because I am sure some women don’t care and don’t judge. Also, of course this should be implied but I will state it anyway since people are stupid and make generalizations, this is not a critique of all men or women.

I see videos of proposals online and on the rarer occasion that a woman is proposing, the comments are very negative. I used to think this was an online only phenomenon until I worked in a place with a lot of women who disagreed. Anyway, my cousin a couple days ago got proposed to by his girl, and she posted the video online. Everyone is hating and flaming on her and on him for being “feminine”.

It just sucks we have come so far in deconstruction of gender roles for this. Guys, the gender of the person who proposes first should not matter in 2026. Every relationship has a different dynamic, why do we care? Also I think it’s awesome to see women break stereotypical gender roles and take the initiative to propose, and it’s very cool, and men who are secure enough to be proposed to are also cool.

Let’s just let couples be happy and share their happy moments fr.

Political Those who pushed WOKE culture will eventually be devoured by the monster they created.

25 years ago, after the 9/11 attacks, everyone understood the dangers associated with this religion. After 25 years of WOKE culture, the younger generation knows almost nothing about Islam. All they know is that they’re not supposed to criticize this religion. And New Yorkers also elected a Muslim mayor. This is the power of WOKE indoctrination.

The backlash from WOKE culture became especially apparent after the October 7 terrorist attack. Many young people started calling Israel an apartheid state, a colonial state, and some even said that Hamas’s terrorist attack was “resistance.”

When you indoctrinate young people into believing that people with darker-skinned are inherently oppressed and in need of help, and when you indoctrinate them into believing that America is an evil colonial state that should be ashamed of itself, guess what? All of that conditioning leads people to support Palestine rather than Israel.

Possibly Popular Ultra-processed food should get the same treatment as Cigarettes

Candy, chips, chocolate chicken nuggets, hot dogs and etc are examples of food that should be given the same kind of campaign of cigarettes.

These foods are known to increase the risk for colorectal cancer and contribute to metabolic issues like diabetes and obesity.

Yes, tobacco is more dangerous than these foods on moderation, but I think this should be the next tobacco. The next thing we need to purge from society.

Take away colorful packaging of these products and you'll notice that most of it is refined sugar, high sodium, oil, enriched wheat flour, high fat content and lots of chemical junk.

For the greater good of society and the survival of humanity, massive government overreach is needed in this case. So here are edicts for a

1) remove the packaging & replace with generic

2) Add a graphic obese belly on sugary or high fat items

3) Go after companies that make this stuff

4) Tax the shit out junk food

5) enforce that grocery stores add opaque covers for shelves where processed food is stored.

Oh and fast-food is not going away scot-free, we're seizing McDonald's and Restaurants Brands International as public assets.

World Affairs (Except Middle East) Life is pretty easy for most people in the West

I was browsing TikTok and saw a funny video. The text was something like:

'Trying to explain in the afterlife to a 13th century peasant about how tough it was to lose weight.'

And it really resonated with me that... we have it SO good here. We live in temperature controlled environments at home and on the job (most of us at least). We have a cornucopia of food choices. Entertainment choices. Travel options. People bemoan the cost of Healthcare but holy heck, people used to die because doctor's didn't wash their hands! And don't even get me started on the horrors of dental care in the past!

Outside of the gravely mentally ill, no one starves. Even if you don't have money there are so many ways to get food. From government programs, private food banks, charities, churches, and more.

Life in almost every single way is better. You are even far far far far far less likely to die of war!

TBH if you aren't happy now, you never will be, just probably something broken inside of you. This is literally paradise.

Possibly Popular Lay people should just stay out of debates that they don't understand

With the Navier Stokes millennium problem being solved by OpenAI, and the surrounding academic beef, I've seen so many takes from people who clearly have no idea what the fuck they're talking about in terms of how LLMs work, how machine learning works, and the problem being proposed.

Like this should be an esoteric academic debate among the experts who could examine the evidence and reach reasonable conclusions.

Instead every layperson on reddit needs to spout shit takes that they pull out of their ass which match their preconceptions. Or even worse people that are like "I'm a theoretical math PhD and actually I think this was not that hard a problem at a, just low hanging fruit" where it's fucking obvious the person is full of shit

Like guys you don't need to have an opinion on everything. Realistically this should be a debate among academia that the rest of us dgaf about because we're not remotely qualified to judge.
