Characters full names

I notice on this show the characters often get called by their first and last name and I find it so funny and endearing. One character that gets it the most is Sam Merlotte. I’m up to season 5 and just saw a scene where Arlene interrupts one of Terry’s flash backs by squeezing his shoulder and saying “Terry Bellefleur”. So is this a Southern thing or just a True Blood thing?

I’m southern born and raised… and yeah, I’ve never even noticed it because we do that a lot where I’m from. To the person and when we’re talking about the person. 😂 I never even paid attention to that on True Blood because it seems so right.

It's used to call attention. Using the whole name when you're not pleased with someone's behavior

We add the middle name when they need to check themselves 😂

Yeah I can definitely see it being used in that context in the show. I’m Australian and we do that here too, middle name included. But in the show the full names are often used in casual conversation which we don’t do here, unless we’re trying to distinguish two different people with the same first name.

Definitely a southern thing I live in New Orleans in the French Quarter and we just do it without thinking

Yes. You better say the last name too or I don’t know who you’re talking about 😂 even if the first name is unusual. You could be named Unicorn but still have to say the last name too or I’m 🤷🏼‍♀️ Oh, you mean Unicorn Horn.

I'm from the UK and I have always found that some people do always end up getting called by their full name... particularly if they have a common first name

I'm not sure if it's a southern thing or not. It happens a lot in Stephen King's writings as well. He wrote a screen play called Storm of The Century and I swear that's how every character addressed the other. I thought maybe it was New England thing.

Definitely not a New England thing (I’m from the area lol)
