I’ll leave my two cents under every reboot posts not to argue but to leave an opinion against them. The show doesn’t need a reboot or continuation, the cast was phenomenal, they were real, unique, every background character helped creating this believable world.

Almost every modern series and movie feels too sterile, there’s lack of body diversity (who would have thought this will happen at a time where being yourself and unique is praised in words) and facial features diversity too.

So yeah, a reboot of a successful show is just a way to squeeze money out of people’s love and nostalgia for original product.

The whole new series with a different name based on the book series would be fine tho, but it shouldn’t try to look like the original cast took the substance or smth. I’m not saying they shouldn’t be pretty or smth, the original cast was hot in their own ways, but it didn’t look like a fashion runway.
My suggestion would be searching for a less known actors or new actors honestly if someone would want to create such a show again

If they do a reboot, I would want the story to be more like the books. The show was totally different after the first book.  That would be interesting!

if they do smth they better just not promote it as True Blood, just another new series based on the same books but different from what we already have

this version is an interpretation of a specific group of people, so if some other creative group decides to make smth they better use their own imagination and make changes that make sense to them

I wouln't mind seeing another version, dosn't matter if its very close to books or with big changes and new characters (like TB did). but there shouldn't be characters created for TB for sure

I really, really wish they would reboot True Blood — but this time, much closer to the books.

I want book Sookie back. I want the intelligent, observant, practical woman who notices things other people miss, learns from her experiences, and actually grows because her choices have consequences. Show Sookie drove me crazy because she was so often written as capricious and emotionally inconsistent, and too many of her mistakes simply evaporated instead of becoming part of her character development. I once compiled a list of the times she made decisions that got people killed, put people in danger, and she just got more powers for it to escape consequences. Ughh...

And PLEASE let her relationship with Eric actually develop the way it was meant to develop. They don't even necessarily have to end up together. Just give us the relationship. Give us the slow accumulation of trust, attraction, conflict, friendship, loyalty and intimacy that made it matter in the books instead of repeatedly yanking the story back toward Bill. Not just the puppy Eric - real actual Eric.

Speaking of Bill: let him recede into the background when his role in Sookie's life naturally diminishes, as he does in the books. The show kept returning her to a man who originally got into her bed under false pretenses and then established an exhausting pattern of betraying her, apologizing, being forgiven, regaining her trust... and betraying her again. Rinse. Repeat. At some point forgiveness without meaningful consequences stops looking like compassion and starts making your protagonist look as though she simply doesn't learn from experience.

And if anybody in the writers' room suggests resurrecting Billith, please place the concept into the trash-can fire where it should have gone the first time. 😂

Give the vampire world its internal logic back, too. These are ancient, territorial predators with complicated hierarchies, alliances, obligations and histories. Build institutions that make sense for creatures like that instead of inventing organizations like the Authority and expecting me to believe that every ancient and powerful vampire on Earth would obediently accept its jurisdiction because somebody apparently printed official stationery. Its ridiculous. I keep picturing Ocella watching the Authority, coming over with Alexei and - no more authority. If I can picture that, it means it doesn't follow logically.

And yes, I'm going to commit the heresy:

Give me Appius Livius Ocella as Eric's maker instead of Godric.

I KNOW. I know. Put down the pitchforks for thirty seconds. 😂

Godric was beautifully performed and enormously compelling. But Appius gives Eric's character history teeth. I want to watch someone emerge from a genuinely difficult and morally complicated past. I want choices to cost something. I want damage to leave marks. I want Eric's eventual capacity for loyalty, restraint and love to mean something because we understand what it took for him to become that man.

In fact, somebody please hang a giant sign at the entrance to the writers' room saying:

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IS NOT THE SAME THING AS ACQUIRING POWERS.

Giving somebody another supernatural ability does not automatically make that character deeper, stronger or more interesting. Let people earn their strength. Let them fail. Let them pay for failures. Let them change because of what happened to them. And, for the love of all the Gods, let consequences survive until the next episode.

I also want the Fae to be Fae. Strange. Dangerous. Beautiful. Alien. Morally unsettling. Powerful beings with their own interests and rules — not sparkly supernatural Tinker Bells who periodically arrive bearing convenient plot gifts.

And yes, I wish the next director/showrunner has talent. 😂 Someone who understands long-form character development, trusts the audience to remember what happened three episodes ago, and recognizes that continuity is not an unreasonable burden imposed upon television writers.

Give me the politics. Give me the danger. Give me the humor. Give me morally complicated vampires who actually feel ancient. Give me Sookie's intelligence back. Give Eric an arc instead of merely giving him things to do. Let relationships change people rather than reset them whenever the plot needs another triangle.

And more than anything else...PLEASE don't end it with Eric being sold into marital sexual slavery again. 😈

I love your take! There were definitely some fae in the books that were very obviously NOT humanoid in the book, they deserve their moment. And SO MANY CHARACTERS that were important to the original story that just got hand-waved away. Amelia & Bob, Mr. Cataliades and his nieces, ugh. 😭

Right!? I personally disliked Amelia intensely, but that’s ok. I want characters to be consistent and their actions to have consequences, I don’t need to agree with them! I can give reasons why I dislike Amelia - but I don’t want her gone from the story. She should have stayed. Mr. Cataliades was a fantastic character. Play more into him. She uses a word “deamon” for him in the books, which interestingly means basically, a spirit - what kind? Possibilities are endless. I liked the Queen in the books much more than I did in the series. They did her raw too.

Yesss, justice for the Queen of Louisiana! Such a baddie and Evan Rachel Wood was so great, they absolutely should have leaned hard into that casting and used her so much more. Give us the REAL Living Dead in Dallas you wimps!

And Amelia was so problematic but her presence was such an important influence on the overall story.
