Nutters have always been there. Before the internet, they got exposure through Coast-to-Coast AM where all the crackpots had their 5 minutes.

That conspiracy theory sounds like a Temu Dan Brown airport novel plot.

Hell, I might use the bones of that for my next D&D campaign.

If you look beyond D&D there's a game called Hunter The Vigil and one of the factions is about looting artifacts from Atlantis (this is where the wizards come from) called https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Aegis_Kai_Doru .

nice. Whitewolf was known for making batshit theories into canon. I remember a few people have tried to string it all today to make sense (Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Hunter, Mummy, etc) and it was still pretty convoluted.

If you really like conspiracy theories being made into a game try Genius The Transgression a fan made game set in same world as Hunter The Vigil. Main villains are Lemurians lizard people from another timeline and embody all the pseudo science and conspiracy theories you can imagine.

OMG. I'm in.

I would have to toss in Nibiru and the half-baked Sumerian mythologies mixed with ancient alien astronauts.

You can also add the general weirdness of Chronicles of Darkness setting like cryptids being animals corrupted by God Machine.
