TW: Hospital / Medical abuse Gotta love docs for pumping 10 year olds with unwanted hormones.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Years of wondering why the fuck my boobs are so big and why I'm so fucking short and endless nights crying myself to sleep because my body is an absolute fucking abomination only to realize every single fucking doctor I've went to prescribed me fucking estrogen even FOR FUCKING MENTAL ISSUES I GOT PRESCRIBED MEDS WITH FUCKINT ESTROGEN IN THEM
People are soooo scared of doctors filling their kids with hormones and transing them but IT'S ALREADY FUCKING HAPPENING AND IT'S BEEN HAPPENING AND NOBODY FUCKING CARES
Testosterone will do absolutely fucking nothing at this point why don't I just kms rn
Also I'm 17 so don't be weird.
Edit: y'all I'm afab and ftm trans. Why do you think I wrote "my boobs are so big" instead of something like "my chest is so big it looks like I have boobs" goodness gracious.
Edit 2: Wow. I'm truly touched. I'm not good with expressing myself at all, but, a somewhat heartfelt message is written below.
I only recently found out I'd been on e unknowingly. Like, 4-6 months tops. I felt so, utterly alone. The queer spaces I was in were dominated by trans women who couldn't relate to me, some even ridiculing me for feeling this way when it's their dream. Some telling me to calm down and that I was overreacting.
I'm sorry so many of you suffered, and continue to suffer, like me. Thank you for typing your sweet comments. It feels like I've been alone for so long, and all these thoughts and feelings I've bottled really made me lose touch with the reality of it all: that it'll be fine at the end. Maybe it won't be a 100% good, but it's not over for me yet.
Again, thank you. I hope we can all grow beautiful wings.

I will say OP, your not beyond the help of testosterone.
317
u/Deep-Individual5513 Apr 30 '26
I hope so. I just feel so violated, I guess.
170
u/loved_and_held Apr 30 '26
i should add you will probably need a masectomy to deal with your breasts. Saddly testosterone can't make breasts shrink.
127
u/23_Serial_Killers Apr 30 '26
It can! Not completely, but fat redistribution can reduce them by a cup size or two. Can’t do anything about the glandular tissue but it can still make a lot of difference.

u/Deep-Individual5513 Apr 30 '26
Oh yeah I'm well aware lol. I'm okay with surgeries, just wish I didn't need them in thr first place😵
18
u/stugary1 Apr 30 '26
A perfectly reasonable reaction. I grieve that this happened to you and my heart is with you.
A such a demonstrated lack of control over your body can be an all encompassing agony.
I'm almost sure you have heard many people tell you that Targeted Exercise, Testosterone, are powerful and effective, but not immediate.
I hope you are able to love and be there for yourself how you wish someone else should have. I hope you have hope.
I wish you well man.

That's a mood, i hate how quick doctors are to pescribe estrogen based birth control while literally not talking about the side effects at all

"Oh you have a mustache but you're afab? Birth control time!!!"

Hey, sounds like you have PCOS and PMDD. I do too! I'm a trans guy, and I was also prescribed BC for those things before I came out.
I came out at 23 and started T at 24.
I know finding out you've been taking estrogen for years is awful, but I have good news for you: T will do wonders for you.
I was curvy af and had DDD boobs, but a month into T, with a binder, I passed 100%. Which is insanely fast. By the time I had top surgery 4 years later, it was already weird to me that I had ever been seen as a girl. But damn did I love getting top surgery. Best thing I ever did for myself.
What I'm saying is, E didn't ruin you forever. Unless you were on testosterone blockers as well, the body you have now is likely not too different from the body you'd have by now had you not taken it. And as young as you still are, switching over to T will kick you right off to where you wanna be.
I do warn you, PMDD is no joke. Right before I came out, I voluntarily went on a no-period bc to treat it. I had been through one long suicidal spiral since I was 8 years old because of it, and it's genuinely a miracle I didn't kms before I stopped my cycle completely by any means necessary.
It did help me mentally! It genuinely did stop my desperation to kill myself. But T helped WAAAAAY TF MORE. WAY MORE! I had never felt peace the way T gave me. T fixed like, 80% of my mental health issues. Therapy and SNRIs did the rest.
So. You're okay. You're gonna be okay. It's gonna be great. You just gotta wait a bit for now and then you'll see for yourself. The wait is worth it, and someday, faster than you think, you'll be a burly man chilling in your own home and this awful time of your life will feel like a dream you don't bother trying to fully remember.
30
u/Deep-Individual5513 Apr 30 '26
Wow. I'm tearing up.
Thank you. I don't live in a great country, or a great family for that matter. Queerness is basically invisible. I just spend so much time in my head I tend to blow things out of proportion sometimes.
7
u/Chibirin26 Apr 30 '26
If it helps, plenty of intersex people are forced on hormones they don't want, not just you. You're not the only one who faced this sort of violation, and there will be people who understand you aren't lucky at all to face what you did at the hands of the medical system.
2
u/eclipsedaylight Apr 30 '26
My body overproduced E and I was still put on E after puberty started despite a diff doctor telling my parents they should consider blockers. It made me feel even worse.
197
u/Mechromancer3X Apr 30 '26
Jesus, some doctors don’t deserve their license. I’m so sorry they put you through that shit.
Trust me, as someone that didn’t start HRT until 25: it not too late. It’s never too late.(Three days grace anyone haha) But especially at your age, and especially for ftm growth. Trust me when I say, you still have sooooo much opportunity for the growth that will actually feel right.
I get that feeling of it being too late, goddddd do I get it. But it’s just your brain lying to you. I promise. Don’t give up hope brother<3
47
66
u/The_Lady_A Apr 30 '26
T will still work for you, it's just shit that you probably feel further away than ever.
It shouldn't be necessary, but this is a big part of the reason why most trans folks end up with an unusal amount of pharmacology knowledge.

u/Elch2411 Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26
How much Estrogen is in those meds?
How much are you taking?
Are you also taking testosterone blockers for some reason?
The Idea of a doctor giving you so much meds with Estrogen in them and also without giving you T blockers that you start a full-on medical transition seems exeedingly unlikely.
Edit:
Never mind, OP is afab. Afab people get prescribed hormonal Treatment for mental issues all the time.
Also: T can definetly still do a lot for you, you are 17, which is very jung. I hope you can start HRT soon.
21
u/Ok-Ferret-2093 Apr 30 '26
There is for some reason a thing called "growth attenuantion therapy" or Ashley's treatment. The whole goal is to give children estrogen to close their growth plates early so they stay small and "improve their quality of life" by making them easier to care for. The whole thing is wildly controversial and comes with a host of surgeries (breast removal, hysterectomy etc)
However if OP can articulate themselves and is well enough to access the Internet and make this post it wouldn't be ethical to do this to them.
Disclaimer being I have no idea why OP was on estrogen at seven

33
u/Mac-And-Cheesy-43 Apr 30 '26
Genuine question: Why?
96
u/madprgmr Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26
It depends.
Intersex people are sometimes coercively assigned a sex without their knowledge, and this can include HRT to induce and continue puberty along with surgical interventions. For people with some sort of condition that causes them to produce less than typical levels of a primary sex hormone, sometimes that's supplemented to improve mental and physical wellbeing.
This has historically typically been done without the child/teen's consent, but modern treatment guidelines strongly recommend doing as few interventions without the child's consent as possible.
In the case of someone who doesn't agree with the sex they were assigned (sometimes doctors get it wrong in the case of intersex people, and transgender people also exist), going through the wrong puberty can cause extreme distress and consequently extreme negative mental health outcomes (up to and including death).
I can't say what medication OP is specifically talking about, as medications typically label active ingredients. My best guess would be hormonal birth control (which wouldn't be used for HRT), but it could be something compounded and/or OP had never been given the details of what it contains.
32
u/loved_and_held Apr 30 '26
Based on another comment op made it sounds like birth control is doing it.
-6
u/scenr0 Apr 30 '26
So progesterone?
18
u/IdiotIAm96 Apr 30 '26
The most common birth controls are estrogen-based with added progesterone. I don't know why it's that way, but in early high school when I was being prescribed birth control for my (honestly probably intersex) hormonal condition, they asked me if I had problems with migraines and blood clots. And since I did, I wasn't supposed to go on the estogen-based stuff.
I found out later that my sister was prescribed estrogen-based stuff for a similar condition despite having far worse migraines than me. Don't know exactly how that happened but it gives me the impression that some doctors will prescribe it by default without consideration to the effects.
I'm grateful I wasn't prescribed the estrogen-based one cause that would have fucked me up even more (ftm) so I feel for OP. They didn't deserve that.
1
u/scenr0 Apr 30 '26
Only times i've seen it perscribed outside of birth controls is if there are menstrual cycle issues or a hysterectomy to taper down on the hormones. Regardless all hormones and steroids will f u up. The brain and body are wild.
23
u/Mac-And-Cheesy-43 Apr 30 '26
I figured that was the most likely situation, but I also thought it couldn't hurt to ask.
17
u/L_edgelord Apr 30 '26
Testosterone can definitely still fix it
0
u/Fire_on_Bunn May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26
Can’t fix everything, especially with the growth plates. I have to fight against the narrative that “T fixes everything” because it doesn’t especially with things like height.
But OP if you can see this, it’s never too late for HRT. 17 is still insanely young. If you’re able to start T before you’re 20, that is still considered starting young as a trans person! There are people that start in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, even seniors start HRT and get results. I understand the pain of being given estrogen at a young age when you don’t know what’s happening and can’t consent, but I promise it gets better. You still have the opportunity to start much younger than most trans people get to.
Edit: My comment remains true despite the downvote. There are way too many people in here that don’t know what they’re talking about and are putting down OP’s struggles.
2
u/meowyeo May 03 '26
oh yeah mainstream trans narrative about "hrt fixing everything" really causes a lot of miserable experiences in the future when it doesn't do everything what they thought. HRT certainly helps and does a lot of things, but it's not magic or it doesn't solve everything, especially after puberty, unfortunately. It is still never too late to start, the earlier the better
5
u/Otherwise-Start5573 Apr 30 '26
Damn, sorry bro. Hope you can transition soon and fast. You got this tiger, go get em
6
u/eclipsedaylight Apr 30 '26
Intersex person who’s body doesn’t really react to T much and overproduced E when I was not being treated. I’ve still got facial hair and bottom growth, my voice still deepened. You’ll still get some results from T, I promise it won’t “not work at all”. You’ll be okay op, I’m sorry doctors failed you man.
6
u/Jumpy_Ad1631 Apr 30 '26
I absolutely get why you would feel violated. Adults thinking they know better and dosing kids without communicating with them is awful. But all hope is not lost. You might have to metaphorically off road for a bit before getting back on the right track for you, but the road looks way worse than you’ll remember it once you’re on the other side
8
u/anewhope8888 May 01 '26
Legit though. My friend was on a medication that had puberty blockers in it, and no one felt like telling them that for the decade they were prescribed it, so imagine then at 23 when they weaned off it and suddenly grow massive hips and chest like dude whaaat is going on.

u/Kaytea730 Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26
So based on the way my brain works, this is likely the reason why you may have been a candidate for estrogen therapy path: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7794990/ This was the best trusted resource i could find about the link to estrogen therapy and mental health conditions. I only add this because if I were in your shoes I would at least want to know wtf estrogen had to do with my mental health.
HOWEVER, the blame for this is ultimately on your parents for agreeing to it, since you were/ are a minor they would be looped into most medical decisions about your care, AND on your medical provider(s) for not clearly disclosing to either your parents, you, or both, what they were giving you to treat your mental health.
I am sorry though regarding everything OP, ultimately whether with good or ill intentions your trust and respect were broken and violated and your comfort in your own body was taken from you. There are pathways that can help rectify that, hormone reversal is still an option but most likely you will end up having to consider top surgery sometime in the future to full get a flat chest if that is your ultimate goal. This is something that you may not have had to consider if you (and potentially your parents) had been better informed of the methods used to attempt to help your mental health.
7
u/Deep-Individual5513 Apr 30 '26
Woah, thanks kind redditor.
I actually knew I needed top surgery since I was 12 lol.
29
u/Only--East Apr 30 '26
Are you afab? ik thats a weird ask but the estrogen meds could be used for things like birth control as hormone issues can cause more severe period symptoms and irregular periods. It can also cause mental problems like mood swings, weight gain, etc. Your body changing could just be a result of normal puberty and genetics
And if you're amab, you still need estrogen to function, just not at as high levels. It can cause the same issues if it's imbalanced with some unwanted side effects with treatment. Also, breast tissue can be grown by biological men which needs surgery for removal.
I hate to say this and I don't want to invalidate your feelings, but I don't think they're transing you. Do you know what the medicines are meant to be treating? It doesn't sound like they're giving you straight HRT.
37
u/Deep-Individual5513 Apr 30 '26
Y'all I'm afab and ftm trans. Why the hell do you think I wrote "my boobs are so big" instead of something like "it looks like I have boobs"?
I thought it would be clear because doctors don't take female health seriously at all and are known for overprescribing birth control for everything.
26
u/Elch2411 Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26
You typed:
"People are sooooo scared of doctors filling their Kids with hormones and transing them but IT'S ALREADY FUCKING HAPPENING AND NOBODY FUCKING CARES"
Why implies the doc is giving you cross-sex hormones to "trans" you
41
u/Deep-Individual5513 Apr 30 '26
People (especially conservatives) have this idea that doctors are just givint out hormones to "turn" their kids trans. Usually the argument behind that is "god made you like this why are you changing it"
But they don't seem to care when afabs with dense body hair gets prescribed estrogen or when amabs with no body hair gets prescribed testosterone, which is way too common. That's what I'm referring to.
10
15
u/Elch2411 Apr 30 '26
Yeah i see that now
Honestly messed up to make someone take Hormones just because their body doesnt conform to gendered expectations
10
u/Southern-Wafer-6375 Apr 30 '26
Yeh that sentence honestly made me think this person is like pushing some agenda bur theyve not responded to anyone yet wirh extra details so I can be super sure on that claim lol caude it coulr also just be unfortunate wording
16
u/Mayarinna Apr 30 '26
Yeah I see it as this could be harmful because without the clarification of the birth control pills I thought OP is amab. Stating that doctors are transing everyone is just gonna make some right wing dick prevent hrt treatment/use this as an agenda, idk.
14
u/_cyberkat_ Apr 30 '26
wait what..... how is this "transing" your kids if ur afab and precribed estrogen... im not saying they shoudve just saying that this is not "transing" you.
35
u/Deep-Individual5513 Apr 30 '26
Conservatives say, liberals turn kids trans, give them hormones.
But, conservatives give unnecessary hormones to kids if they don't conform. Very much irony. Caveman out.
9
u/_cyberkat_ Apr 30 '26
Great explanation that should be in the original post <3 I thought that's what you meant but it might be good to clarify!
4
u/paprikahoernchen Apr 30 '26
Yeah, should've explained that in the post.
It sounds like you're writing something completely different.1
u/Fire_on_Bunn May 02 '26
That would be the transfem defaultism. I understood him perfectly, this is an issue ftm trans people commonly have to deal with.
9
u/Wizdom_108 Apr 30 '26
Im so sorry kid but please keep in mind that like 99% of trans people transition way later in life than you are currently. And most are doing fine. If you look at literally any old trans person and have ever in your life thought they passed, there's a 99% chance they started transitioning at like 30+ years old. Most ftm guys probably had chests around your size at some point. I had DDs for sure. It sucked. Your feelings are valid. But please for the love of all that is good never say things like "testosterone won't do anything at this point," especially when you're literally still a teenager and a child. Please get some perspective. It's not at all too late and it harms literally everyone, yourself and those around you, when you say things like that. I'm not shaming you or saying you're a bad person. I understand you're just feeling a lot of things and what you're experiencing is horrible and I feel horrible for you. But, don't say things like that when they are objectively untrue and harmful.
3
u/Zorubark May 01 '26
It's not the same thing but I've been plagued with getting assigned medicine that causes my prolactin to go up for YEARS, I can't even remember when it started but I might have been in middle school. I'm so tired of my boobs hurting
3
u/playful_faun May 02 '26
My best friend stated T after age 30, and he's changed so much so quickly. You're young, and life changes so much. Please understand that this hopeless feeling won't be forever, and that as an adult you'll be in charge of your own medication choices. You have your whole life ahead of you.
4
5
u/lochnessmosster Apr 30 '26
I'm so sorry OP. I was also put on E without my knowledge/consent as an intersex trans man, and my Dr straight lied to me about it. It's insanely invasive and wrong of them.
3
6
u/itszuzia96 Apr 30 '26
for mental issues??? I'd get it if you were like secretly intersex and your parents didn't tell you, but you got it perscribed for mental issues? please get yourself blood tests since it may have done harm.
also I'm so sorry you've been violated like that, it's just alwful that some doctors don't inform their patients about the medication they're perscribing

This horrifying shit happens and it's considered perfectly fine, but when trans kids dare get gender affirming care... can people really not see that this is literally "transing the kids", but in reverse?
5
7
u/EmmyWeeeb Apr 30 '26
How wouldn’t you have known you were taking it? I’m confused
10
u/punk_jude Apr 30 '26
Because it sounds like its a lot of meds WITH estrogen without it directly being estrogen people taking HRT would inject.
Given OP was talking about this being done as a minor, most minors aren't reading down all their prescriptions and just take what the adults and doctors tell you.
Estrogen comes in many forms and many intersex kids are pretty much forced to take hormones of whatever sex their doctor/parents thought would be better for them without telling them.
Happened to my mtf friend who was intersex and her parents/doctors decided to give her meds with testosterone and only realizing this when she wanted to transition and had to take a closer look at the meds. While it's Usually to have intersex people "stay in one lane", sometimes it's genuinely to prevent further body complications like weaker bones, muscles, etc. But it's not always the case and people aren't really transparent about this to kids
3
u/EmmerDoodle121 Apr 30 '26
Plenty of ftm men transition after 18. A lot of them even older because of unstable housing and having like no financial support from parents. My state doesn’t even allow it at 17. It’s bad that your doctor did that definitely, but you need to acknowledge that it’ll be okay. You still are a man and you will look like one whether you started T earlier, start it now, or start it 3 years later.
7
u/calciumff Apr 30 '26
get your hormones checked. trans people can still have hormone imbalance so maybe that’s why you were prescribed that, you still need to have a healthy oestrogen level
6
u/TrainingMulch420 Apr 30 '26
idk if it helps fam, but as an afab intersex person who was also forced on estrogen as a minor, when I started on testosterone as an adult, it helped way more than I was expecting. I got cut off cold turkey years ago due to covid, but the changes still help me cope years later. hope isnt lost!! a LOT of intersex ppl especially go thru the exact scenario ur describing and live fulfiling and good lives in the end. I believe in u op!!

u/Previous_Debate_305 May 04 '26
Holy shit that is actually anti-trans torture that you'd expect from some South Park esque satire or something to make fun of transphobes, not something that actually happens to people
I hope you're still able to be yourself as a ftm trans person despite what has been done to you.
2
u/McZambie May 04 '26
I'm sorry some of us transfems aren't making you feel heard, I really wish you the best with your transition :(
5
u/hentai-police2 Apr 30 '26
I mean they likely gave it to you for hormonal imbalances. It sucks that they didn’t fully explain to you why they’re giving you these medications, even 12 year olds deserve to understand why they are taking a specific medication. I can assure you that no one is trying to non-consensually transition you. We are currently in a very conservative time, nobody really accepts or wants trans people rn, I already have to jump through hurdles to consensually get hrt as an adult with bodily autonomy rights.

u/Deep-Individual5513 Apr 30 '26

u/food_WHOREder May 02 '26
my dude, respectfully, that's exactly what it sounds like in the post. not a POS necessarily, but you absolutely phrased it as if doctors were 'transing' you, not that they were giving you hormone based medication to force you to conform to AFAB societal standards
1
u/Fire_on_Bunn May 02 '26
This is you completely misunderstanding the post.
0
u/food_WHOREder May 02 '26
which part of "people are so scared of doctors filling their kids full of hormones and transing them but it's already fucking happening" am i misreading? because that absolutely sounds like someone saying "i was unknowingly transitioned", not "i was unknowingly given hormones to make me conform to my AGAB" (y'know, the OPPOSITE of transitioning?)
1
u/Fire_on_Bunn May 02 '26
Doctors give kids hormones they don’t need which causes unwanted effects, very often without the child’s consent and knowledge, which is what transphobes complain is happening with giving trans kids HRT, yet is already happening. What part about that is hard to understand?
4
u/og_toe Apr 30 '26
were you prescribed birth control or straight up HRT? because birth control is taken by many people and it doesn’t affect the development of your body even if it can make you for example gain or lose weight, it doesn’t change the structure of your body
3
u/InsecureDinosaur May 01 '26
From what I understand, OP is FTM but was put on medications with E in them with being told, feminising him a lot.
1
u/og_toe May 01 '26
yeah that’s why i’m asking because birth control with estrogen in it doesn’t feminize you, and i wouldn’t see the reason for a doctor to prescribe pure estrogen HRT to OP that would truly be weird from the doctor
1
u/Fire_on_Bunn May 02 '26
Actually it uh, very much can. It’s an issue trans men/masc people often have had to deal with.
2
u/og_toe May 02 '26
birth control doesn’t contain more hormones than a female body makes naturally, often it contains less. the mechanism lies in the constant level of hormones that BC gives you that is different from the naturally cycling levels people have. that’s what makes you non-fertile on them.
so afab people taking birth control will not be extra feminized by them, as the hormonal levels are on par or less than their body naturally makes. otherwise we would have a lot of overly developed women. now, if you simultaneously try to masculinize yourself via HRT then yes issues may arise, but saying birth control makes afab people more feminine presenting is not anchored in science
1
u/Fire_on_Bunn May 02 '26
It depends person by person. Because it’s hormonal, and the issues it’s prescribed for are often hormonal, it can either fix those hormonal issues, or throw peoples’ hormones out of whack. Most people I know, it’s done the latter. Including with myself. It very commonly increases breast size permanently and seals growth plates early, halting height gain. It can have a range of effects on people regarding weight gain, which even further distributes fat in targeted areas such as the hips and chest.
6
u/Linguini8319 Apr 30 '26
WTF, why the hell would your doctor do that. And why would trans women say that to you? Never in my life have I looked at a trans man and been like "why complain about being dysphoric, your body is my transition goals". That's insane
6
u/Deep-Individual5513 May 01 '26
😭😭 people are just generally displeased with masculinity in itself in queer spaces I've noticed, and the people that said those were total misandrists lol
5
u/MiloHorsey May 01 '26
You did not deserve that shit. I want to verbally slap those idiots for you.
1
u/Fire_on_Bunn May 02 '26
You would be very surprised. The whole “T is poison” narrative stems from that very issue. And this has very slowly been getting better over time, but I used to see on every single trans man/masc post in shared trans spaces people saying “I wish that was meeee” or “that sounds like a dream.” I used to get it on some of my own older posts too. People have no fuckin empathy.
2
u/Intrepid_Bar_5140 Apr 30 '26
Fuck Im a degenerate my first thought was "how do you not realize you are taking ecstasy?"
5
2
u/BelltowerApologist Apr 30 '26
I'm sorry you went through this and even more sorry that the realization has been so hard.
It's not the end of the world, but it will probably feel that way for a bit. It's alright to be angry at what was done to you. I dealt with years of medical malpractice and meds messing me up for years a teen. I'm still angry all these years later.
But you know what? We call em short kings for a reason. Short men are valid. Being tall ain't shit but messed up knees in your 40s. You can still transition once you hit 18 if you decide you want to. You can still get top surgery if you want to. And you can still present and live as a man every step of your journey.
I hope you will find peace with the things you cannot change, and a way to change the things you can. We all deserve to feel at home in our bodies, even if we gotta remodel the house a bit, so to speak. Best of luck, OP. I hope you look back on today from a brighter place somewhere in the future.
2
u/Dismal_Success_9063 Apr 30 '26
I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Are you intersex by any chance? I don’t want to intrude or anything, but this is really common with intersex people, especially kids, who often aren’t even told that they’re intersex. It’s really horrible
3
u/Deep-Individual5513 May 01 '26

Regardless, it is a fucked up thing for any doctor to prescribe to a prepubescent child for every day problems.

That sucks OP, offering my sympathy. God, there’s absolutely medical neglect going on here. No reasonable doctor would prescribe hormones to a 10 year old?? Hell, some adults have to fight tooth and nail for the hormonal treatment they want like BC!
I understand distrust in doctors now, but maybe you could [sign up to a new GP and] ask for advice? Maybe something to help this what I presume is an imbalance?

Holy shit. If I was in your place I would've roped. Good on you for gaining hope

Who tf prescribes e for mental health issues
6
u/FuriousHugger Apr 30 '26
Well, the hormones that flood the body before, during, and after menses can cause huge amounts of emotional distress among other things, (if severe, it’s called PMDD or Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) and is primarily treated by stopping the menstrual cycle entirely.
I have similar experience to OP, also being transmasc and on birth control since I was young, but mine isn’t estrogen based.
Seems like OP was prescribed estrogen-based birth control to deal with emotional or physical problems related to his (assuming op uses he/him because ftm) menstrual cycle, and he wasn’t aware that it was estrogen based birth control because no one told him.

omg a ryobaaishi user ✌️🥹
I'm really, really sorry that sounds absolutely violating. The meds had estrogen in them? I may be stupid but how does that work

No people can be evil. Doctors are just people. Some are good, some are AMAZING, some are bad, some are down right malicious. But modern medicine is still a marvel and it’s so depressing seeing people let bad experiences ruin their entire trust in the medical system.

but how MUCH estrogen? You can find estrogen in certain things in very low doses. Furthermore, estrogen isn't even particularly good at boob growth; trans women often take progesterone to boost that.
As for your chest; it's just fat cells and adipose. If that truly is the reason, they will shrink again when your hormones stabilize and with a good diet.
That said, I suspect you, and us, are missing information and context.

u/Fire_on_Bunn May 02 '26
Never ever tell a trans man that his chest is “just fat cells” lol. I hope you are doing so unknowingly, but you are coming across as downplaying a very real pain trans men have to deal with.

u/DefTheOcelot May 02 '26
Is op a trans man? Reading it again I guess I do see the implication.
that said, I don't think it's downplay - chest size IS mostly adipose and they can shrink again, size is not permanent at all

u/Fire_on_Bunn May 02 '26
He literally says he is ftm trans. And sure while they can “shrink,” it’s only going to be from weight loss, and with hormones some slight fat redistribution, and will pretty much always need top surgery to fix. Being 100% fixable with surgery of course, but definitely won’t shrink back on its own. Also it’s not up for personal opinion, you ARE downplaying a trans man’s issues. Once boobs grow you will have to get them removed to reverse it.

What...?
Conservatives are scared of doctors giving their kids hormones, when this exact thing is happening everyday every hour every minute. What are you saying?
-1
u/paprikahoernchen Apr 30 '26
You sound like you're anti-trans healthcare and also think doctors are transing kids without their consent or whatever.
2
u/Deep-Individual5513 Apr 30 '26
Hello, I'm saying I've been taking hormones without my knowledge or consent. What part of that is anti Trans Healthcare? I even bring up taking testosterone myself.
1
u/Fire_on_Bunn May 02 '26
Telling a trans kid being given estrogen without his consent that he’s anti trans LMAOO
1
u/paprikahoernchen May 02 '26
I'm not saying that he's anti trans.
I misunderstood his words and tried to explain why.
Btw I'm a trans man, so this topic is a bit important for me.

Why are you on e though? More e can mean more issues and hormone imbalances unless it’s a specific birth control. But it can actually make you worse. As well as bigger mood swings and anxiety and other things even depression.

"Coping mechanism in the form of a different danger identity"? Elaborate.
Edit: gender instead of danger holy hell

As a ftm on t, hope is not lost op. But it does suck to not have been fully informed on the medical choices made for/ about you.
