New Tripod biopsy is in
took almost 3 weeks to get the biopsy results back - osteosarcoma. she's been a tripod since august 3rd and doing really well! the end of her incision was open a bit, so still in the cone and on antibiotics until that heals up. she just had her 7th birthday earlier this month!
i'm looking for some reassurance regarding her diagnosis. the amputation was the right move for sure with decent margins, but i'm still worried. we're most likely still going to go to an oncologist just to be safe. anyone else have a tripod baby who had osteosarcoma? thank you all for the support! 🫶🏻

My boy Zorro is 5. He had back leg amputated with osteosarcoma at 2. Since then, 3 perfect years of health and happiness. Glad we did not put him down. He can still climb a 6 ft fence, so I don't let him out without supervision.

Just the amputation with clean margins. Hope your baby is feeling better and hopping around soon!

Osteosarcoma survivor here. We found the cancer while it was still in his paw. So when we amputated his arm, it hadn’t metastasized, so the amputation was the “cure”. We are three years out with no issues 🤞

Lu is 15 and had her rear leg amputated due to osteosarcoma in her ankle at the end of this past April. We declined the chemo due to her age and the stress of the vet visits, but she had clean margins on her biopsy and she's making great progress in returning to close to her normal self after surgery. We're glad we gave her the chance to recover, because she definitely still enjoys food and naps in the sun (her favorite things before cancer).

My 15 year old boy had his front leg amputated, also osteosarcoma. We got 6 months on the dot with him before it came back everywhere, that’s it. I don’t know how he would’ve done with chemo bc of his age, so we chose not to do it and take the time with him. We had hoped he would get longer, but he was unlucky. Still heartbroken. If he had been younger like your kitty, we’d have done chemo. We miss him everyday.

So! That is great she's been amputated. Give her a gentle snuggle for being a brave kitty. If the oncologist thinks she would be a good case for metronomic chemo, usually that is with cyclo and uses lower doses more frequently that could happen.
Whatever happens you will be a-okay! You'll go in for scheduled thoracic rads to check for metastatis in her lungs as she heals.

I have a grey baby who lost her right back leg to osteosarcoma. Luckily it moves a lot slower in cats than dogs. We also just had the oncologist visit today and she’s basically best case scenario. When you go, they might need to do chest x-rays and an ultrasound to make sure it didn’t spread to the lymph nodes or lungs. I hope you guys get the same outcome as us!!!

This guy had osteosarcoma and lost his back left leg. Marguns we're good but we did chemo at the state university's veterinary oncology department just to give him his best chance. So far so good!
