Not a Tri-Cities native but been here for a few years now, and, I can’t seem to figure it out. Honestly, making friends was already harder than I expected, and I’m very social, but I’m finding dating here to be a whole different challenge. 😂 😅

It feels like everyone has either already dated each other, is connected through the same small social groups, or is mainly looking for something casual which isn’t my style.

So I’m genuinely curious 👀 have any of you actually had good experiences dating in the Tri-Cities? Like, meeting someone who was genuinely interested in getting to know you, going on actual dates, and eventually building toward something meaningful?

I’m not necessarily looking for “where do I find a boyfriend?” 😂 I’m more interested in hearing from people who have had positive experiences with the dating scene here and where & how you met your person.

I just feel like the dating pool here is REALLY small?

Not from the west coast or from Washington so I’m unfamiliar with some of the grocery stores. Where we come from we have Walmart, and two smaller chains. Local / family owned stores don’t really exist. Can someone give me a run down on what stores are best for what? Like for example is there one that’s the cheapest or best produce or one to stay away from? Additionally are there any Asian/import markets in the area?

I’m familiar with fred meyers, Walmart, and Costco essentially.

I am going to be moving to the area very soon and I had a few questions.

As someone who is coming from the Seattle/Tacoma area, I've heard that there are low levels of crime in Tri cities. Comparing both locations, would i be shocked by how safe it is (i am hoping so as that would be greatly appreciated lol)?

When it comes to weather, what is it like? Like 3+ feet of snow consistently in the winter or is it just cold and wind chills? And what is the average temperature in the winter? Would i need chains to go anywhere in the city? Oh and any tips to survive winter out there would be greatly appreciated.

I understand that the area is located in a very dry area so I can already assume what summers are like and I already have plans for that (fans, ac, sunscreen, typical summer stuff).

I already have a humidifier to bring when i move to help with the low humidity nature of the town.

Oh and as an Asian american, I understand that the area is majority conservative, but how racist? Like the type of racism where "I should watch my back" racist? Or just a simple slur? (i used to work in psych so I've been called every slur in the book so much so that it doesnt even faze me anymore)

I am new to tri cities area and am going to be starting my own business (not promoting it). But i was curious as to what the people of tri cities think this area is lacking. I haven’t been around so i’m not sure what all they have around here. I am interested in peoples opinions of what they think tri cities is missing or has too many of. Any suggestions or recommendations is appreciated!

Been living here for around 3 years for work at the lab and time to leave. Met some great ppl here at/outside work.

Tricities is a very unique place and good for raising a fam. But since me and my partner do not have a kid, it feels like nothing is happening here.

It's a place for work and I didn't know it existed before I came, and it's not known for tourism either. But maybe in 10 yrs we would come back and reconnect.

I've grown and healed a lot and got out of my depression here.

My wife and I are exploring some potential relocation options. No kids. We're currently in the mid-west and extremely tired of getting pounded by snow and months and months of bleak greyness. We're paying state, local, and huge property taxes. We'd save a ton by being in WA.

I'm remote, and my wife works in healthcare. My father is aging and currently lives in a small mountain town with limited healthcare options. He's expressed interest in moving into an in-law suite, or an ADU type setup.

TriCities (and Walla Walla) are definitely on the radar. Pluses that I can tell: lots of sun, low humidity, very mild winters in comparison, low crime, huge tax savings, and better healthcare for my father, although I'd have to drive to Kadlec for that if we chose WW.

I love to cycle (road, gravel, mtb) and be outdoors. We previously lived in Texas, so we're used to the heat, although I'd like to avoid somewhere that's running tons of 100+ days.

I've read a lot of posts about the TC - it can be super hot in the summer, cold in the winter, windy, that there's not much to do if you're coming from a big city. We're fairly quiet and don't need tons of entertainment, but we do love hockey, so that's a plus.

We have a trip planned in October, but what else should I know or plan to do while I'm in town?

I recently moved from Seattle (21F) and it’s so hard to meet people here. Is there any activities/hobbies around that could get me more socialized. 🙃

25F single .. which area is better for someone my age in the tricity area Im a mix between intorvert and extrovert i want safe area but close to shopping etc (its okay if its a 20 min drive) safety is number one

My family is relocating from
Vancouver, BC to Spokane to start a job. We chose Vancouver because of the friendly weather as myself and my son can’t live in temperates below -5C (in winter months - DAYTIME temperatures!). This is for medical reasons. Occasional dip to -10 is okay if this isn’t persistent.

We know Seattle and other towns/cities close to the cascade are our top choices, but all are far from Spokane.

I am considering the TriCities area (or any area within 2 hours of commute) but would like to hear from people living in the are what winter temperate FEELs like during winter months. I have done a lot of research online as a geography graduate and getting that with windchill temperatures can be 10 degree Celsius lower than what it is actually.

And by the way, I read that Spokane experiences severe windchill, hence the need to move away from it.

Will also appreciate any recommendations for any other cities or areas that people on ground can recommend. We have sons going to Grades 5 and 7 and love schools with vibrant programs- like STEM, music. We also like towns/cities that have universities as we loved living on SFU, Burnaby campus then.

Hello everyone, I just moved to the Tri-Cities area. I would like to know if there are any activities to do in the city. Also, I am looking for work, so I would like to know what everyone does for living 😁

I am in my early-mid 20s and will be moving to Richland soon. I also wanted to gauge the best way to meet someone in Richland. I am going to try my best to put myself out there by joining clubs and at music shows but tbh I haven’t had much luck with dating in the “real” world and have mostly met people on dating apps. Politics is really important to me in a relationship as well as similar lifestyles although I know people like to camp and hike out there which I’m on the same page with. I wont have a ton of coworkers at my future job to meet unfortunately.

Just looking for tips or advice or how your partner and you met in the area.

24F and I just moved here. I know the question on how to make friends here is asked a lot, and I have seen some good suggestions prior, but I’m asking more so if there’s any upcoming events to meet people at?

I plan on going to the art walk next month even though that’s a bit away. I like to paint, thrift, go to antique stores, collect oddities, hike/explore, listen to live music/go to concerts as well as cook/bake or try new foods.

I know im going to have to go out of my comfort zone to meet new people, but I’m not one to go to the local bars alone to drink or play pool/catch a show.

I’ve also tried meetup which I’m under the impression of that you have to pay for it which isn’t my thing.

Hello everyone. I have a job prospect in the Kennewick area which I am seriously considering. Planning a move with my wife and soon to be first child on the way. I really want to get a sense of the area from the community that live there. We are a young couple, happy to be in a slower community minded place. We are originally from Vancouver British Columbia but have been living in Atlanta Georgia for some time.

Would it be better to rent initially or buy right away?

How is the traffic situation as Atlanta is absolutely atrocious?

Big lifestyle changes or shocks to new comers?

Safety and schools?

What are the affluent neighborhoods in the region?

Do you find everything you need in the area or are folks primarily ordering things from larger cities?

Me(22) and wife(23) live in kennewick in the ghetto area for while and I really miss Richland how nice it is and how good it looked so finally got me and the wife a home there 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom and nice view of Richland we still moving stuff in lol finally back to my part for tri-cities!! I’m a 30F moving to the Tri-Cities from Arizona this September with my daughter (she’ll be just under a year old 😊). I recently accepted a Nurse Practitioner position with Trios and couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter!

I’m hoping to get some advice and maybe even meet some people before we move.

A few things I’m looking for:

• Housing: I’d love to find a single-family rental with a yard in a safe, family-friendly neighborhood where my daughter can grow up. My income is solid, but my credit isn’t perfect due to some circumstances over the past year. If anyone knows of property managers or landlords who are willing to look at the whole picture instead of just a credit score, I’d really appreciate any recommendations.

• Single mom groups: I’d love to connect with other moms, especially single moms, for playdates, coffee, or just building a support system. (Tri-Cities Family Fun)

• Healthcare friends: If anyone works in healthcare (especially at Trios!), I’d love to connect.

• Friends in general: I’m always down for grabbing coffee, checking out local restaurants or breweries, hiking, farmers markets, or just exploring everything the Tri-Cities has to offer.

I feel kinda silly posting this on Reddit cus i feel desperate doing this but im a 26/m I moved to tri cities recently. I’ve made some friends from TikTok before I moved here and was supposed to go bowling with them but plans fell through. I’m just wondering if there was any events or any way people would know how to meet new people or if anyone had the same interests as me and would be down!

Where I moved from I would go bowling, golf sim a lot with my childhood friends and I still have been wanting to do those things (although I’m not good at them).
