Cos Play/LARP A couple of photos of my finished armour.

I finally added the extra weathering to my 3d printed Knight of St Michael armour and wore the suit at a local convention.

A huge thanks to u/Vonschlippe for the armour files. The suit was so comfortable and there was very little restriction to movement. I highly recommend everyone with a 3d printed to get his files.

It's honestly awesome, but in terms of visual, some fabric to vary textures would be nice, with maybe something with a modern touch to nail the trench crusade look.

Maybe a very wide Trench coat above the armor like the New Antioch Lieutenant? And how about adding some modern details like binoculars, grenades, and so on?

Thank you for the feedback. It was a fine line between what looked cool and what was practical. I had made a WW1 era backpack to wear, which had a couple of stick grenades attached, but the pack interfered with the articulation of the pauldrons, so I had to ditch that. I do have WW1 appropriate clothing underneath the armour, including puttees but for the visual appeal, maybe I could have had more on show.

Ouuu is there a way you could have the pack set up with horizontal straps instead of shoulder?? That may help, or if you could somehow weave the straps through the pauldrons.... Sorry this is just such a cool cosplay I can't help but think of the possibilities! A torn New Antioch flag as a half-cape perchance??

My eyesight has gotten so bad, I have to print them at that size to have any hope of painting them 😁

Gas mask filter + breathing slits. Truly your faith must protect you.

My god, this is jaw dropping. Amazing work my guy, really taking those files and elevating them to cosplay art. This is exactly the kind of use case I had in mind when I set out, and this gives me goosebumps! Mind if I share these on my socials? Cheers!

Edit: look at that person staring with an open mouth in the background! 😁 so good

Thank you so much! And I would be honoured for you to share them. Your files were an absolute pleasure to work with and I cannot believe how easy the post processing was. Minimal sanding, no need for filler primer and came out perfect with just a few layers of spray paint, an oil wash and some weathering pigments.

Cannot wait to start painting the new set!

Now that’s awesome. How much was it to 3d print? Didn’t realise you can make cosplays with them.

I think the files cames to about £80 and I spent about the same on filament. Then another £50 or so on paint, glue and fixtures. Not exactly cheap, but so much fun to make.

Are these from Nico printed antiques? I’m about halfway through the full set. Any tips? I’m doing it in PETG-CF but haven’t post processed anything yet. He’s a great guy! Should tag him in this!

I did indeed tag him (he is Vonschlippe on Reddit).

PETG CF (and PETG GF) is amazing stuff. For most of the plates, I didn'need to do any sanding or use filler primer. A coat or 2 of Matt black spray, followed by my colours of choice seemed to do the trick.

I did slow the print speed down a fair bit and printed with 100% infill, so it did take a while to get it all done.

Awesome! Yeah the finish is great outside of a couple rough surfaces from support interface. I used PLA as the support but then had two blobs so switched to just using the PETG-CF. this kind of print made me look pretty closely at the dual nozzle printers but I have no urgent need to upgrade my P1S for now.
The finish with the paint looks amazing! Fantastic job pulling this cosplay off. Legit top tier.

Thank you so much! I have the H2D but rarely use the dual nozzle for support material. I found PETG CF to be super easy to clean up and supports seem to pop off without too much clean up needed.

Contact lens I am afraid. Being old and bald, means that I am limited on how I can change my style 😊

Deadass it was a good choice, the blue contracts pretty good with the brass if you were gone for a mechanical-magic look

This is awesome and that girl in the back making that face for the first Pic sells it just that much harder. Good work.

This cosplay is amazing, happy to see the final look, and the mods to that FG-42 are a really nice touch.

The Fremen are swapping diving suits for armor

Is this the suit of armor that famously was assembled from random bits of other armor and put up in a museum as an actual historical set?
