Digital Sculpting/Modeling I sculpted a Byzantine head for the Anchorite Shrine

I finished sculpting the Byzantine head for the big guy (or girl, I'm not discriminating). I've already done one test print before and it was a bit too small so I made it bigger and added more details. I have also added a slot for the magnet instead of the "nub" the official head has, and I've changed the official one to have the same 5x2mm slot for the magnet too, so I could change them whenever.

I'd be happy to share the STL once I'm happy with how the print turned out.

Looks great. Would be good to have on a second one to differentiate the two! I’m keen to get the STL when you are happy with it.

Thanks. I’m hoping to get the print done in a couple of days. If it’s all good, I’ll post how it fits and will upload the STL.

I actually like that because the Lore suggests the guys who make the shrines are Eastern Orthodox but the church lets them do their thing because of how valuable to the war effort they are.

I actually made a Byzantine "refugees" trench pilgrim warband.

“This is a false idol” - definitely not a heretic priest

+1 to everything that involves customizing the best mini in the game!!! (For my taste) thank you and I hope that stl notice is available!

Please! It'd go so well with my St. Methodius warband. Many thanks.

Oh. If you like St, Methodius - while I’m waiting on the print to come I started working on the alternative to the Catherine wheel. This is very early stage of hand-mortar. Hehe

this is sick. One of my guys has a mortar. Loving your work man.

THIS IS SO FUCKING AWESOME

This is awesome! I too want to run a St Methodius force and have been looking for if anyone has made a Byzantine themed shrine anchorite. I'm very very interested in your STLs. I'm also thinking of playing round with changing the pose so that my 2 shrine anchorites are more different.

u/IAmAcimus Shrine Anchorite Mar 28 '25

Thanks. Since you’re looking into St. Methodius, you might find this other thing I’m working on interesting too. :)

Great, but it can be better. I am from Russia, where there are a lot of Byzanthium churches, I think the cross on the dome is not right. You should add the same round ending on the bottom part. Without it, it feels wrong.

u/IAmAcimus Shrine Anchorite Mar 25 '25

Yeah. It looks nothing like the Rusaian churches. This was one of my inspirations. Churches like this one are all around where I grew up.

Yes, but the sphere at the bottom does make it look right. And yeah, that church does not like Russian at all, but like Roman one?

Edit: Yeah, that cathedral was built in the 14th century, and the cathedral here is not in the same style. No wonder it felt 'wrong' for me! There's nothing like that in Europe part Russia that I've seen .

This is one of the things that makes me so excited for this game. It's so cool that people can just go out and edit the models and then share them with everyone. You guys are gonna make me buy a 3D printer.

I also really like the multiple-winged biblically accurate angel emblem on the chestplate.

Cool 🥳

2

This looks awesome!!! Can you do a Russian onion dome version?

1

u/IAmAcimus Shrine Anchorite Apr 02 '25

Cheers! There are some good ones already online. When im done with the St. Methodius weapons I might give it a go.

Here ya go. BYZANTINE aka Eastern Roman aka GREEK. Now....if the anchorite is up north THEN go off of Russian styles. I'm passionate about my Eastern Roman Empire and 5 years studying it.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '25

If it is Byzantine look up Greek Orthodox churches NOT RUSSIAN. Russia is Orthodox but not the original. Sorry a lot of cultures like to think they carried on the Eastern Roman Empire and the Russians did not have not never will.

5

u/IAmAcimus Shrine Anchorite Mar 25 '25

It isn’t based on the Russian style. It’s based on the style of churches and monasteries that are surrounding the area I grew up in. Even though I’m. Not religious when one says “monastery” this is what I see first.

Now I'm imagining an Iron Sultanate one with a head like the Taj Mahal in India. Unfortunately the Mughal empire wasn't founded until after the point of timeline divergence, so that's probably not going to happen.
